5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Glad you told us which one is you , Frith. Could have been confusing otherwise!
Noticeably cooler today but it was nice while it lasted.
Going back home today so that we can see DGD tomorrow. Had a good time including :-
A meal in our favourite Thai restaurant. It's only tiny and only open four evenings a week so it's a struggle to get in at the best of times. We didn't manage at all last year so it was a real treat. Lovely food and great atmosphere.
Lots of walks by the sea. Nourishes the soul.
Lots ( probably too many) coffee and cake stops. Back to the diet next week.
Being warm enough to sit outside in an evening without huddling in coat and blanket.
Drinks with friends one evening and a much needed catch up. All the restrictions do make you appreciate the simple pleasures as they gradually return.
Happy Saturday everyone10 -
Lovely picture Frith.
1. Menu planned for the next week and went shopping. It was a cheap shop.
2. House is cleaner and a couple of phone calls made that needed to be made. My curtains may arrive next week but may be not!
3. Watching the chickens and the ducks. I can waste hours watching them.
4. Chat with my parents on the phone. They are going away for a couple of weeks.
5. Garden weeded or some of it is.11 -
Fab picture Frith.
For yesterday,
My usual early morning wander around the garden and noticed that we have two bee orchids coming up in the grass, they didn’t appear at all last year.
This warm weather means my bread dough is a lot quicker to prove, just an hour for the first and under for the second so a fresh loaf made before I went out at 10. Haven’t had a loaf of the day post for a while so this one was malted wheat with added pumpkin seeds.
On the way to see equine girlie and stopped at the side of the road to pick a few bits of cow parsley, she loves them and they are good for her digestion system.
Afternoon spent in garden, my climbing rose has really picked up after feed but noticed loads of aphids on the rhododendron, where is a ladybird when you need it ☺️Watched the first half of the footie but switched over before any of the goals to watch Gogglebox.9 -
Lovely to see lots of you out and about, especially Sue, nice photo Frith 😊
Recent pleasures:
Brunch out with OH on his day off, at his favourite cafe, he had his usual full English plus most of my chips, I had omelette and salad, very tasty 😋
Decided on my new bathroom and ordered it, then changed my mind and compromised by not having my “needed” cupboard and going for a much larger walk in shower, as we are losing the bath 🛀
Waved my neighbour off to her 2 weeks respite care, fingers crossed 🤞 she likes it and decides to stay.
Met my old Headteacher colleague for coffee and a chat at favourite cafe, it’s her favourite too.
Enjoyed the French men’s singles tennis 🎾 semi finals with a dip in the hot tub in between matches.
Friday takeaway was shish kebabs, no chips.
Scales showing weight loss of half a stone in less than 2 weeks, hope I can keep this up!
Have a super weekend everyone ☀️😘11 -
1) Oh the sunshine...going to be a nice day!
2) Granddaughter stayed in her own bed all night for the very first time, she woke 3 times and had to be comforted but went back to sleep on her own and her mum got to sleep again too, I hope it's the beginning of a new era in their house.
3) 7 year old Grandson has completed his Khan Academy Maths module and his Dad promised him a treat and he could choose what he wanted.....A pub lunch with my two best friends and a good walk please Daddy and their Daddys can come too.....??? so that's what he's getting today!
4) Garden arbour bench was oiled with preservative yesterday and smells wonderful, look so much better too.
5) Looking at the back garden from the garden room, it's neat, tidy, mown and growing visibly every day greener and more 'ours' than ever before in the time we've been here...it makes me happy!9 -
Pleasures for yesterday (Friday)
1) Hens OK.
2) A smooth drive to Chipping Norton where I met my friend from sixth form college. We did the charity shops and I found the book "Mudlarking" that I had fancied reading for ages.
3) Had lunch in CN.
4) Went to Jeremy Clarkson's farm shop, purely as smaller son is such a fan, and there was the man himself! I asked for a photo (everyone was saying hello to him) and we talked about both having hayfever and also that he had a bad review in the Guardian. I reminded him that they gave him a fantastic review earlier in the week.
5) Carried on down the A44 to my friend from school's house! Had a cup of tea in the garden and watched the red kites above.
6) A 2 hour drive back home again (traffic in Evesham) then bought fish and chips from the van.
7) Watched the Last Leg.11 -
Hello. Day seven done and only two to go ( my normal two) an 11 hour shift today.
Up far too early ( and same again tomorrow as also have loads of catering to do)
Very quick doggy walk this morning. Just enough to do business.Work was worked. Much laughter and chatter...my kitchen companion has been good fun.
Tips...very blah but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as they say!Looks like a very pleasant evening so I think me and my jammies are going to recline on the garden sofa for a bit. Probably with a doggy by my side.11 -
Mhags. I made a point of tipping at a local cafe this morning due to your posts. I admit that previously I'd not thought to do so in a cafe..
Pleasures for yesterday
1. A walk in the hills
2. And a pub lunch
3. Which meant no cooking so we had cheese and biscuits for tea. Though I did make a crumble
4. Reading my book
5. 2 episodes of ozark
And today
1. A doggy walk with a friend
2. And a coffee I'm the sun
3. Cleaned up the house a bit.
4. Baked DSs favourite Nigeria gingerbread cake
5. On my way to see sister in law for a couple of days. I'm paying my debt for her editing of my thesis by helping her clean and sort out her house.
Have a great rest of the weekend everyoneI wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
1) We finally made the decision and bought ourselves a pair of garden recliner chairs from Argos yesterday, they are lovely and comfortable and I spent most of yesterday afternoon in the shade reading my kindle with my feet up...blissful!
2) An evening walk when the temperatures fell a little across the rugby field and along the lane where the trees meet overhead and into the arboretum where it was cool and dappled shade and comfortable.
3) It had been too hot for me to fancy any supper until about 9 last night and I made a bowl of porridge which was just right.
4) Finding that the two fields of cereal crops that are the boundary for the arboretum have grown apace in this warmth and are in fact oats! thus ensuring my mummy bear bowls of porridge for the winter...made me happy.
5) Honeysuckle in the hedgerows which was smelling delicious in the evening air and elderflowers the perfume of which I like and it makes me think of the essence of summer as we walked by the field boundaries in the arboretum.

1. Met a couple of friends in local tea room for coffee and cake. A lovely start to the day.
2. Good journey to watch rugby - trains not crowded.
3. Enjoyed watching rugby. A good win and leaving players given a good send off.
4. Went into London after with DH for a meal. Meal was good and nice to be out.
5. London was busy but not crowded. It was good seeing buildings rather than a mass of people.
