Hello again
Bala - that sounds very frightening. I hope the meds get sorted And your dear dad starts to pick up. But don't forget to take care of yourself too.
Am very envious of those ' related to royals' on here. My family tree ( and DH) is made up of miners, mill workers, farm labourers etc. Not even a notable criminal! We'll never be on Who Do You Think You Are. The only real surprise to me was how far people 100+ years ago were prepared to go to find work, often moving across the country.
A glorious day here. Have washed our winter coats. Hope that doesn't jinx it.
There seems to be a strange time lag thing on my kindle. I'm not a fast typist but the screen is way behind me.
I give up! Will try again tomorrow
Happy 🌞day everyone13 -
For yesterday
We didn’t get the smallholding, there’s no doubting we are sad about it, but hoping it’s all for a reason and something else will come along. Meanwhile we are now planning to sell. We do think there was something rather squiffy about the auction thou, it sold for a lot more than it’s worth and there is something very local to compare prices to.
1 We went for a walk in the glorious weather
2 Turned my annoyance to housework, and clean bedding for the upstairs.
3 The bathroom is complete and refreshed so one house tick off the list.
4 Various woodpeckers, crows and starlings having food and using the bird bath.
5 HM burger and oven chips was tea.

That's a shame about the smallholding, PK.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Went to Floody City on the way to pick smaller son up. Very little money until next Thursday but I was nipping through a shortcut to get back to my car and went through a glass roofed court and everyone was having a cooked breakfast. So I had a small one of those with a cup of tea! Also got smaller son an Oasis CD from a charity shop (£1) as he has really got into them recently.
4) Went to smaller son's college and there was no sign of him at midday. Went into the office to do some paperwork and his case worker was there and said how well he was doing. One of the deputies appeared and was saying "Its been ups and downs but...." and proceeded to tell me it is going well now. Then there is another meeting room behind the office and you can see the people in there through a large window. The other deputies (or one is possibly the head) jumped up and we couldn't hear each other so they both did 2 handed waving and big thumbs ups ! Smaller son had been out playing golf (!) with his favourite TA and the teacher who has been given the job to engage him in conversation (so he finds her very irritating).
5) Put lots of stuff on EBay after lunch, which bores me to tears but might be worth it.
6) Burgers for tea with Lidl's nice brioche buns and a HM onion marmalade thing. Strawberries for pudding.
7) Messages from bigger son who has passed his paddle sports training so he can teach that unsupervised now. He was a bit wary of it to start with (hated having to keep capsizing when you have the plastic "skirt" so can't escape your canoe) but is OK now.
8) In bed now to watch Taskmaster then Mock the Week. It's still raining...13 -

Hello.DD1 set off on her mammoth journey back to Australia this morning. By getting the bus at the bus stop across the road! You’ve got to start somewhere! I have raised an independent happy young woman so I’m not sad. I’m glad she’s doing what she wants to do. Won’t relax properly till I know she’s arrived. My Monday night.
so to keep my mind busy I had a massive clear out of wardrobe! Four bags full which have just been dropped off at charity bin. Looks much better now.
Round to mums. More phone calls.
Hoovered upstairs and downstairs. Cleaned bathrooms.Went for a hot stone massage. Bit ouchy but think that’s more a me thing than a hot stone thing!Lovely walk over the fields with doggy ...we surprised 2 ducks.13 -
Hello
PK, sorry it hasn't turned out the way you wanted....this time ! More opportunities on the way I'm sure.
Well, a horrendous week. Last year when Dad was hospitalised I couldn't praise all the staff enough. Something has changed.
The first paramedic (absolutely brilliant) was trying to convince 111 doctor to prescribe pain medication to no avail. Her reason was that my Dad was/is not her patient. (??????????) So she left an 81 year old diabetic in agony with Solphadeine.
2nd lot of paramedics took Dad to hospital at midnight. 8am next morning I get call to pick him up. He is wheeled out in his pyjamas without a blanket, his stomach was bare and on show in the cold. He was about to be handed over to me until I pointed out that I needed to know what had transpired so he was wheeled back in. When we left we left with medication that you can buy over the counter. Lots of staff standing around laughing and joking. My Dad still in awful pain.
The three mornings that I tried from 2 minutes to 8 to get through to surgery I was always 37 th in the queue (?) and had to wait up to 50 minutes to be answered each day. This morning, in the most blase fashion,I was told that all appointments were normally gone by 8.20..... and then told to call 111. If only corporal punishment was legal....
By this point I had had enough so got lift to surgery. Asked to speak to practice manager whose attitude deserves consideration for some kind of reprimand. She told me that there were no rooms available so gave me a choice of talking outside or in reception where there were people waiting. I pointed out that I was there to complain so perhaps not prudent to speak in front of others. Her response was a shrug and said that lots of people complain. I became animated at this point (no bad language) and eventually after 4 days I now have the right pain medication for my father who is now not eating or drinking.
I know all have been worn out by the pandemic. I know most are to be thanked but this attitude, callous and uncaring and down right bl***y rude, needs to be tackled on some level. I don't blame those that lose their temper.
I don't know how to express my feelings. In a different world I would scream and swear in the hope that it would release the tension, disppointment and anger I feel.
Sorry. Only pleasure I have had today is to see my Dad finally sleeping and a photo a board member sent me of her beautiful animals. You know who you are.....
Love to all

Bala - and anyone else who appreciates/needs a touch of real wit, brilliance and humour. Have just hugely enjoyed Craig Brown's '1966 and all that', from 2006, with many of my fave voices, too. Hefty recommend😁❤👍😅:

Bala, I’m sorry you had all that trouble for your poor Dad. Sadly, our surgeries and hospitals down here seem all going the same way, inability to make an appointment etc. I do feel for the staff who are doing their best, it must be awful. Hope your Dad is doing betterCarolbee15

Bala sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your Dad and the treatment he needs.
1. Long chat with DS1 as it was his birthday. He was having g a good day and enjoyed his day.
2. Work was busy which was good and a Dr was found when needed.
3. Easy tea of fishcakes as felt tired after work.
4. My new passport arrived but may not need it for a while.
5. We have tickets to watch a rugby match. Quins v Bath as we're successful in the ballot. It would be 15 months since we watched them.15
