For yesterday,
Watching Mr and Mrs Blackbird taking turns to hunt for worms on the back lawn.
Out to pet store for dog food and met the most adorable rescue dog called Monty, he was enjoying the benefits of the tasting table. He had been a welfare case but was clearly now living his best life.
Then into horsey town to pick up small dog’s meds from the vets, parked at top of town to walk in and forgot my umbrella so glad the showers stayed away.
I was meant to be meeting some pals for a picnic this weekend but weather looking dodgy, we then realised that as of Monday we can have a meal inside instead, oooh so long since we did that.
Feta and spinach pie for tea with roasted veg.

Good afternoon
Bala - are you ok? I hope the blood test results weren't a problem.
Yesterday we had more than enough weather. Really torrential rain in the afternoon, then in the evening, about half an hour of sheet lightning followed by a proper thunderstorm. I'm pleased to say that today is much calmer. Quite pleasant in fact.
Took my bubble friend to A+E yesterday with an eye problem. Less than 24 hours later, she is at the next big town along having an operation. How wonderful is the NHS! And while watching Grey's Anatomy, I did think, how much would this have cost in America!
Have sorted out my sewing/craft box. Not thrown much away, but at least it's in categories now ( until the next time I make something, when it will
get all muddled up again)
Happy calm day everyone14 -
Hello. It’s the most beautiful evening after a mixed day .In to work early.Home and into town with girls. DD2 went and got her nails done and DD1 and I went for a brunchy croissant. Popped in to a couple of charity shops. Got a top that DD2 has claimed, a pair of chino/jegging style trousers, a nice stripy top ( just because!) , a lovely spotty green skirt ( linen with pockets 75p ) and a fabulous jumper for the great nephew. It cost a whopping 25p and is new! DD1 got one of the Enid Blyton parody books ‘ Five go Gluten Free! ‘
Also got some flowers from my favourite florist. Just some eucalyptus and a yellowy Pom-Pom flower that I must find the name of. Simple, inexpensive and looks fab.
Home and then out to the mothers. She’s been in hospital past week so had to sort out all her new meds and make what seemed like loads of phone calls.Home for a bit then time to take doggy to vets. He needed a review of his medication. So the vets happy with him. Continue as before. He just love the vets.Had just pulled in to driveway and met a friend going by so we chatted for ages. Then OH best friend came by to see DD1 before she goes. So we sat in the sun in the garden and chatted and laughed.Dinner has just arrived courtesy of DD2.14 -
Pleasures today.....
Lie in with lemon and ginger tea after two busy and poignant days at work. I need my time off to recharge and get my head together again.
Donated two grandmother clocks and an exercise bike to British Heart Foundation. They were collected today, and the study no longer looks like a dumping ground.
Dog had her weekly outing with the dog walker, out nearly five hours, very well behaved apparently. She is now totally flaked out on the floor next to me.
Mediterranean style beef stew and dumplings cooked in the Remoska for lunch.
New recipe tried out, almost-vegan fudge chocolate brownies. Delicious.
Painted my nails bright red because I have fourteen days off. No point in wearing nail polish when I work two days a week.
Lounging about watching last year's Eurovision entries on Youtube.
One life - your life - live it!14 -
Recent pleasures:
Did my first Lidl shop for 14 months on Monday. So nice to pick out my own groceries and much cheaper than Tesco click and collect! I had to get up to speed at the checkout, well out of practise 😊
Friend and I were due to go out walking on Tuesday but the weather which couldn’t make up its mind whether to pour with rain ☔️ or to let the sun come out, put paid to that, so we just had a cup of tea and a catch up.
Then went up to elderly neighbour’s to carry and unpack her delivery of “personal” supplies upstairs.
Today my sister came to me as she wanted to visit the next town to go to the abbey gardens that I regularly visit.
We were happy to see a beautiful swan with 8 gorgeous fluffy cygnets on the stream.
We went to a cafe with a courtyard garden for lunch, but were a bit fed up waiting for an hour for our salads ☹️
We then had a wander around the Main Street and the rest of the gardens before huddling under our umbrellas ☂ in the rose garden to eat our buns in the rain 🤣
Night all 💤

Evening all.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Last teaching of the year (although there is a little bit of outstanding marking for that uni)
2. Had a looong lunch break and took a walk by the river
3. Had a headache that the walk couldn't shake off (not the pleasure) so just sat and watched TV for a while once i'd finished teaching.
4. did the shopping before i started work so the fridge was full again.
5. Discovered that OH could well be descended from King John of England, Robert the Bruce and various stewart kings of Scotland, Llewellyn ab iorweth of Wales and some earls of Munster. So he's got the full set - oh and throw in that, if this is true then he's vaguely related to David Cameron, Churchill and Princess Di 🤣
And today
1. Did a walk in the park with a friend. Due to muddy pathways, we took a different route which made a change.
2. We bought coffee and sat outside the cafe to drink it - it felt very decadent
3. Washing dried on the line
4. Finally made some progress on my paper writing.
5. watched episode one of 'Three Families' - alternately heartbroken and outraged.
Have a good night all.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
VJsmum - family trees go very quickly once you hit the aristocracy. My dad's went back and back until I chanced upon Queen Margaret of Scotland and the Normans (which we knew anyone, with his mother's French maiden name).
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son had a reasonable day at college.
3) Hens OK.
4) Did a bit of geocaching.
5) Sorted out the 1950s and 60s Christmas decorations I cleared from my aunty's house. Some for us and sorting some out for my friend.
6) Made HM chicken nuggets for tea.
7) Watched Great British Sewing Bee.13 -
Hi Happycas
Had to postpone/reschedule Doctor's call. Dad took ill, am in Kent. Awful week for him. Just got pain under control. Rounds of paramedics until he was hospitalised. He is home now but pain is still not completely managed so may have to up meds. Will be talking to someone tomorrow.
There are pleasures but am too shattered at the moment. Why is pain alwas so much worse in the middle of the night ?
Keep well all

Sending GWS wishes for your Dad Bala.
Curtsies in the general direction of the more royal members of the thread 😊
For yesterday,
Busy morning, housework then seed planting, with no greenhouse I am rather in the hands of the weather but have taken the risk of getting the carrots, salad leaves, rocket etc going.
Time spent with the equine girlie, long-reined her over poles in the school and she was a little treasure.
Something had got into our bin bag and spread rubbish all over the grass verge, pleasure was after tidying it up and also picking up other bits of litter.
Tasty tea, one pot meal with chicken, chorizo, peppers and cannellini beans.
Watched the Davina programme about the Menopause, good to see more attention being paid to something that 51% of the population goes through.13 -
Much on and off rain, more forecast, so -
1. Quel surprise! Rugby club teatowels, dbl boil+bleachy washed, out by 7h, in by 11h. Down to manageable 20/30-ish each time now. They'll go back on Saturday - home v. North Walsham.
Saturday soddit moment saw & head to Letchworth for cathartic scream'n'shout. Excellent results: Shelford Ladies 1st XV 58-5, Shelford fellas 1st XV 22 - 14, despite extraordinary sudden punch-up/rolling maul brawl and red card!😁🏉❤
2. Chats with Spain. All vaccinated there❤🤞👍. Also, long and lovely call with France. Missed Fête des Muguets en situ, but &'s are growing.
3. Emporium seedlings rtc, well-grown. Trays of 6 courgettes, pumpkins, £1 each. Took 2 for old Uni friend, 2 for &. Beloved Yurp looking less likely this year with profiteering crony test fees, even if France and Spain make the Green list. On verra.
4. A sudden day of use-up cooking and baking, so - scrummy strudel with end-of-jar mincemeat, apple turnovers, a vg veggie soup, gorgeous braised lamb casserole, big garlic mushrooms. Yeast on hand for next bread.
5. Finished reading what is always a treat, another Martin Walker Bruno Courreges. & is easily there(2nd old stamping ground) or anywhere on the sacred hexagon🇫🇷. Meanwhile, NZ friends are counting down the days to their Aotearoa rtn, 15 June. Is it really 5 years since & collected them?....how so?
