Good afternoon
A much better day today. Sunny and quite warm.
Barnado's in the village had said they were accepting donations. DH went yesterday, to be met by a sign on the door which said they weren't as they had too much stuff already! He left the clothes in the Sally Army big bin thing in the supermarket car park and brought the books and other things back home! They can sit in the garage for a while.
My pretty bunting, which I put in the garden in 1st May ( aka Beltane) has suffered rain, hail, frost and gales! It did look very sorry for itself yesterday, but now it's dried out, it looks pretty again!
Met DD and partner outside at the garden centre for coffee and cakes. It was almost too warm in the sun, but I'm definitely not complaining about that.
I'm going to sort out the house plants this afternoon with some re-potting and some planting in the garden. Will be a nice gentle Sunday afternoon job
Happy 🌞 day everyone

For yesterday
1 Using some luxury sanctuary things that were gifted at Christmas they do smell lovely.
2 I think DH had a lovely birthday, I dug out a big birthday banner, and recycled a birthday card, there were a few small things to unwrap, and I was surprised by the oh wow its great to the cake. But I am really glad as baking is not my talent.
3 I went direct to a local independent café for dinner, and wow they went all out the meal was amazing, but they also threw in 2 brownies and toffee birthday cake thrown in, wonderful, and portioned up in the freezer as we were full.
4 We binge watched Tony Robinsons travels by Train.
For today.
1 On my aim of doing something to maintain our current house daily, I mowed the front garden lawn and just made sure it all looked loved at least.
2 I washed down the bathroom tiles in prep for me grouting tomorrow.
3 I didn’t do much else today really, dinner was from the freezer, grilled potato waffles!, fresh veg and a chicken kiev, it’s all working down the freezer nicely.
4 A slice of hm chocolate cake, wow it leaves me feeling very full, it’s a heavy cake.
5 I’ve dug out my exercise weights, I have now started on strengthening my arms something I have wanted to do for a long time.

1) the yummy bowl of hm asian noodle soup - my fears of being over-zealous with the ginger and chilli were overstated - hot but very very edible
2) walked the boys to magdalen with dd2 who had hoop class in the bandstand - very classy!
3) then I took the boys to mennies where I was the only punter, but joy he will be open next Saturday and the football will be on - he assures me i don't need to book a table so there will be trouble if i don't get a seat
4) after what turned out to be the last rain shower of the day went for run 3 week 6 C25K - am amazed, thrilled, exhausted in equal measures
5) finishing at mum's who just happened to have just cooked supper and there was plenty for me tooshe has read through my application and spotted a missing apostrophe
she'll read through properly tomorrow so i can edit tuesday and send the thing off Wednesday. That's the plan. It's only taken me 7 years to write so a couple more days won't hurt

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did a load of washing then washed my bedroom curtains. I've booked a slot at the Repair Cafe next Saturday to have them repaired (last time I washed them the curtains shrank but the lining didn't!) I might sell them on Ebay after that as the room/view looks better without them up.
3) Hens OK and my brother gave me a gooseberry bush so I planted that in the soft fruit patch then planted nasturtium seeds randomly.
4) Seem to have cooked all day! Bacon sandwich for smaller son for lunch then an afternoon of food preparation. I keep buying the same cheapy bags of vegetables that I bought when bigger son was here so I chopped all the peppers and onions for the freezer as we won't use them up quickly enough. My brother had left my a carrier bag of leeks so they got the same treatment. Various bits and pieces in the fridge (2 mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, 2 peppers plus a pineapple) so I made them into kebabs with pork cubes. Used left over tomato ketchup and puree plus the end of a jar of mango chutney to make a glaze and that worked well. Made brownies later with chopped dried apricots (to use them up!) and they were good also.
5) Asked Hari the Shop for some cardboard boxes for some more clearing of my aunty's house tomorrow and he asked all about her. I was quite touched.
6) Phoned my school friend.
7) Bigger son has just sent me a few messages. He is doing his paddle sport qualifications tomorrow and Tuesday.
8) Going to make a cup of tea then watch Mock the Week in bed.15 -
A good day.
1. Tidied up some more bits of the garden and the fruit cage looks seed free at the moment.
2. Had a coffee in the garden and we were warm.
3. Went to local nursery and DH had to buy a tree to replace one he had dug out as it was dead.
4. DS2 came round to collect his post (a common theme) and we sat out in the garden.
5. Had a drink in the garden in the evening in the rain!!
6. Watched rugby and somehow we won and still 4th.14 -
Recent pleasures:
Met my friend and her doggy at our local park on Friday. The sun ☀️ was mostly out, there were lots of ducklings 🐥 and it was her turn to pay for lunch, so a good day 😊
On Saturday I cooked a full English breakfast, OH’s favourite.
It was my neighbour’s 91st birthday so I popped up there with a card, 💐 and a couple of fairy cakes 🧁 I had made and sat and chatted with her for an hour.
On Sunday OH had gone to work at 5.30 am and when I woke up the sun was shining so I text my sister to see if she was going to the car boot sale at the town half way between us and arranged to meet her there. It was warm walking around and I bought some fruit and a few bits and we decided to get some lunch near the river. It was where we had seen the swan’s nest the other day so we walked up there and there were 7 very small cygnets out for a swim with their parents 🦢. So a good day but tiring with lots of steps in the warm
Roast chicken dinner and a glass of wine in the evening.
Happy Monday all 😊13 -
Aw, love that the boys are so interested in what their human sister is doing DD.
Hope Bala is ok.
For yesterday,
After a day of relentless rain on Saturday it was nice to wake up to sunshine.
Caught up on things Ambridge, oh Alice 🥺
Pleasant drive over to home village to visit parents grave as it would have been my DM’s birthday, tidied up and left flowers / plants for them and my DB.
Saw the beautiful grey one and heard the cuckoo again.
Late afternoon cuppa and reading my book in the garden, the birds are so used to my presence now that they happily come to the feeders while I’m sat out.

Lainey - 'Oh Alice' indeed. Glad they are doing a slow burn on this story though rather than having it all magically be ok.
Pleasures for yesterday.
1. Getting through the marking - the main pleasure is getting through the marking although there are one or two submissions that gladden my heart.
2. A walk to the shop, the long way round. Was pleasantly warm in the sunshine.
3. A yoga session with the barmy yoga teacher
4. Washing largely dried on the line.
5. Gin!
More marking today - have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Hello Lovely Lainey
Am okay, except for the dizziness and an awful cold. Doctor's phone appointment today to determine what's not quite right with me......
My fingers are crossed that I don't have to have another blood test. 4 is enough and as they made me wait over 40 minutes last time I started getting anxious went bright red and heart racing. Silly I know 'cos it's all in my head. They quickly got me seen to, I must have looked awful.
Hope you are all well

Hello. Hot shower and jammies time!Well I was a tad adventurous and didn’t set my alarm clock as I didn’t need to be in till 8am. Phew! I’m just so over the alarm clock shouting at me to get up on the new phone!Busy day today. And can I just say for the first time in a year I think....excellent tips! One of the younger girls was counting them out and every time she went up an extra pound we were so excited! In the jar with a satisfying tinkle! After work meeting . Changes afoot! Positive ones.A very warm welcome home from the dog. And DD1 was trying to boo me ( which I’d anticipated) and I saw her reflection in the big window of the extension where she was hiding round the corner...so I boo’d her! Two days of booing left 😢
Had leftover baked potato and salad from work for tea.
Yesterday I’d worked only a couple of hours in the morning as I was swapping a shift with other kitchen colleague. So was in early to do catering and then had rest of day at home. The girls went out to the niecelys in the afternoon so just me and my doggy, we were gardening.
Was out planting peas at 5.30am before I’d went to work but later on planted coriander, parsley, radish’s, spring onions, lettuce. 10 lavender plants and some wildflower seeds. We’ve had lots of wind and rain. Kind of over it all now!13
