Hello again
Ampersand - we have Solomon's seal that would take over the garden given half a chance. I do love them though and manage to keep them in check
PK - how exciting. Fingers crossed.
S Sue - still here x
For yesterday
Main event - a haircut!! First since the end of Nov. My hair is fine and straight and just hangs about unless cut properly - like a yard of pump water ( my dad, again). I'd nearly forgotten what it was like to have hair that looks like it belongs to somebody.
Power of Attorney turning into a saga. We have received 3 out of the 4. DD rang yesterday. She has received a different 3 !! I know three out of four ain't bad, but it would be better to have all four, and not work through different permutations! Will ring DS this weekend and see which ones he got.
Sunny today, and actually warm too. Might do some gardening today ahead of tomorrow's promised downpour. Our water butts are already full to the brim!
Happy Friday everyone

I think I'm getting mixed up, ampersand. The one I call Solomon's seal doesn't look like that. It has little bell flowers hanging down.
I've just looked it up and its Latin name is polygonatum ( sorry, don't know how to do links!)
A colleague gave me some years ago and that's what he called it, so we've always called it that!
Where's Monty Don when you need him?12 -
My fault for confusing you, Happycas. Pink bleeding hearts and Solomon's Seal burst up together in a funny little triangle near my no.1 shed.
A few more raspberries sprout there every year too, as now.
CUBG's white bleeding hearts are new to me.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Hello. The sun is warm coming through the patio doors ( shut) it is not warm outside.Oooft at alarm going off this morning. Note to self...turn the ring volume down a bit! New phone and very loud!Quick doggy walk.Work for an hour a half.
Home and did two jobs that were in the mental to do list. Tidied hall cupboard. And under kitchen sink cupboard. Put computer games up for free to a good home.Went in to town for a late lunch. I had a voucher that went towards the total cost. Girls paying their share. Had three courses! Oooft! No need to eat again today! But all delicious.Had parked car at top of hill so had walked down in to town and then had to puff our way back up with full bellies!Had a chat with my sister. It’s been a very long time. And now just planning on relaxing the rest of the evening, another early start tomorrow.14 -
hugs to suffolk sue
lovely photos ampers thanks
annual leave today but was very stressed last night so
1) sending work email and getting reply that all ok and being reminded i'm on annual leave then marking dissertation - really need to get the hang of annual leave in the house better 🤣
2) meeting friend at botanic gardens then having coffee and cake (my treat) in the cafe, now open (and may have stopped for quick chat with Dr No about the footie - bop i miss our footie chats)
3) then lunch with gbf - we discussed end of line of duty in great detail
4) then we went to botanics (so 2nd time in same day) - church friend now on duty (dr no does mornings on friday), pub friend popped his head round corner and reminded me not long (like i need reminding - as i've said before it's not the alcohol i miss, its the community and oh boy have i missed it!) - saw juvenile red squirrel hooray
5) online drinks with the boss at 5 and now watching Death in Paradise with dd2.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1 Routine docs apt, done and dusted for another while.
2 As we were out we dropped into Aldee for the first time in a very long time. It was possibly was a mistake on a Friday, but lovely to pay their prices, and lots of rtc very tasty tomatoes. Treated myself to a carnation spray which I keep staring at as they really are colourful.
3 Fish and greens for dinner.
3 I have made Nigellas old fashioned chocolate cake in preparation for tomorrows birthday, and I wasn’t good there was much tasting along the way, chefs privileges and all that, I’ve also moved quidco money across to cover his birthday take out meal.
4 I’ve moved the home improvements I have to do over to next week, as I needed to get on with the baking which took a lot longer than I allowed for, it’s kind of a weird pleasure it will be nice to cross the home improvements off as they get completed, a lot to do next week.

Pleasures for today (Friday, though it has felt like Saturday all day!)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son stayed here overnight so we had a cooked breakfast of sausages, bacon, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast and hash browns.
3) Hens OK. They are older ladies now so occasionally lay eggs with no shell but today we had one egg and one perfect yolk in a membrane!
4) Popped to the local nursery for a bag of compost.
5) Have had a dispute with O2 for some time but gave up arguing with them (almost impossible to speak to on the phone) and paid their silly bill. Will never do business with them again. I'm sure my lack of custom will lead to their collapse! Also sorted money out generally online.
6) Took bigger son back to his work and my mum, dad and brother visited him as well (all outside). The weather was bright, if still rather cold. Everyone was on good form, really quite cheerful and positive. My brother went on the fan descender and the zip wire. The grounds are so large there is something to interest everyone, from various mature trees to birds or a nice view.
We had a cup of tea and slice of cake outside also. I hadn't been for a walk with either of my parents for a year (as they have been isolating up to a fortnight ago). Very shocked at the downturn in my dad physically. He's been in heart failure for 26 years (yes, this is impossible and it is due to modern science that he is here at all) but suddenly he no longer walks but shuffles slowly and asked more than once where the next seat would be.
Bigger son's friend messaged to say he had passed his driving test.
7) Popped in to Waitrose on the way home (there isn't a branch near us so I often go there when I've dropped bigger son off).
8) Planted nasturtiums all round the garden and a few in pots, then sunflower seeds in more pots. Thought of the weather forecast and put all the pots in the shed temporarily.
9) A good weekly update email arrived from smaller son's college. A teacher had challenged him to a game of chess so smaller son said he wasn't very good (he certainly hasn't played since before the pandemic). He then played an "incredibly competitive game" ! I bought smaller son chips and kebab meat from the van and he says he's had a lovely day.12 -
Evening all
Five pleasures:
1. Stopped work a couple of hours early this afternoon because I felt tired. Will catch up over the weekend.
2. I've just seen that the pub garden I can sort of see from my bedroom window has strung lights all around the edges - very pretty, looks like Christmas.
3. I've discovered an online jigsaw site and there's no tidying up afterwards. Have to do them only as a treat though, otherwise it gobbles up time but it's meditative and makes me feel comforted and calm so it's easily as good as traditional meditation (that's my excuse)
4. H/m veggie soup and almond-butter sourdough sandwich for lunch, lovely.
5. Got my act together and printed out the Power of Attorney paperwork for myself to sort out appointing my sons. Plan is to get it sent by the end of next week.
Sweet dreams,

Sounds like some real progress is finally being made by college Frith, good stuff.
For yesterday,
Woke up to sunshine, always a good start.
Friday clean which isn’t so good, although opening windows to let the fresh air in felt good,
Plain old egg sandwiches for lunches, bread still slightly warm and delicious. I know you are supposed to wait until completely cold but come on, who can!
Afternoon spent with my girlie, think we both felt a bit CBA so groomed then grazed her in hand, love watching her sorting through what she wants, baby dandelion leaves are a big favourite and she makes soft snorting noises when found, bit like me and my bread ☺️Home and Capt S had given up for the day and was digging in the garden, today is forecasted to be wet all day so as he said make hay while the sun shines.14
