Morning all - what a horrid wet one it is too...
pleasures for yesterday
1. Hair cut and coloured - finally! IT's much better but i've kept the length - i quite like having long hair again.
2. Got some bitty academicy admin jobs done. Procrastinating from the marking really.
3. Nice chat to hairdressers - i was in there quite a while.
4. DS got his new guitar back - it was his 21st birthday present that he's only just bought and was many hundreds of pounds. it had a fault on the back of it so he took it back. It's now been mended perfectly (i suspect a new back) and he's very pleased with it. I'm pleased that he had the confidence to go and complain and get it sorted himself.
5. Gin!
Have a good (wet) day all. I'm marking 😢

Good afternoon
It's wetter than wet here.
Ampersand - I see what you mean now! No, I've not seen white love-lies- bleeding either.
Frith - so pleased about younger son. And breathe.....
VJ's mum - good weather for marking. At least you're not missing anything else!
Final part of power of attorney arrived. When I filed it I found a letter from the solicitor who did our wills. It offered LPA for £550+vat+ current admin rate. Thank you for everyone, esp Frith and BoP who encouraged me to do it myself. A huge saving!
Long phone call yesterday from DS. There's a lot going on in his life at the moment. The pleasure is that he does talk to us about it. ( The non-pleasure is there's nothing we can do to help.)
Lots of bitsa jobs ticked off this morning. If ever there was a day for curling up under a throw and reading a book, today is it. So that this afternoon sorted
Happy ☔☔☔ day everyone15 -
Hello. The most stunning sunrise this morning. I was struggling to get up and had kept hitting snooze button on alarm then I saw the sunrise and that got me up. So a very quick doggy walk as we watched it, all crimson. But the adage about sailors warning was quite right as it was an absolute stinker of a day...until now when it’s actually quite pleasant.Work. In at 5.30am till just after 8am and same again tomorrow. Which will be another oooft at the alarm clock .
Had to go round to mums and then into supermarket. Bought 10 lavender plants using my tips. Just stood and put coin after coin in the self serve till!Too wet to plant them and too cold. Actually had fire on late morning but let it die out later as sun decided to make an appearance . Had a snoozette on sofa near fire.Nice doggy walk though we got wet feet.15 -
Happycas - glad the POA went OK. I've noticed a lot of ads for companies that can "help" gain people Irish citizenship and those are money grabbing also.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Did bits of housework, dried washing, cleaned the floors downstairs.
4) Made a cooked breakfast then a tasty tea of potato salad (chives from the garden), green beans and BBQ ribs.
5) Took the borrowed mesh from the greenhouse back to my brother's. It had been used to keep the hens in there during avian flu. Also took him the t shirts I had picked up for him during recent charity shop runs. Had a conversation with dad about why he had been so slow and stumbling in his walking yesterday and he showed me that his heel had split open! He has almost no circulation in his feet so this does happen from time to time. He can't get any shoes or socks to fit. The trouble is that there are extra wide socks but they don't expect old blokes to have size 14 feet!
6) Smaller son wanted a trip to Tesco so we went there.
7) Watched 2 episodes of Casualty.
8) Went to the shop in the village for boxes for more emptying of my aunty's house next week.15 -
Missed posting yesterday.
1. Back is much better - almost at normal levels and have been doing slightly more.
2. Been enjoying reading my book.
3. Went looking for furniture with DH. Couldn't find what we were looking for. Luckily I had measured as DH liked a sideboard that was too big for the space.
4. Sat in the garden on Friday and the rain in Saturday was much needed.
5. Long chat with a friend on the phone.
6. DS1 called in to collect some post.13 -
For yesterday,
A lie-in on freshly changed sheets followed by a leisurely breakfast.
The forecasted day of rain and wind happened so busied myself in kitchen, batch cooked for the freezer, made rock buns for the cake tin and some houmous for next week’s lunches.
Biting my nails listening to the footie on the radio but the U’s came good in the end and got promoted to League One.
At last the rain eased and we got small dog out for a walk, think we all needed the fresh air.
Made time to light a candle and join in with online friends for a healing session, nice to think of us all spread out across the country, united in our wishes and endeavours.12 -
Morning all
Five pleasures:
1. Was feeling rubbish so cancelled the idea of a day of batch cooking yesterday - too much standing - so moved it to today. Have woken up feeling better.
2. Did lots of sit down tidying up/decluttering and have started a box of small things to sell.
3. Listening to my latest audio book while I was busy.
4. Treated myself to a hot drink at the local village cafe just to have the pleasure of sitting outside and doing something different - can't remember when I last did that, could it have been six months ago?!
5. Negotiated a £100 drop in the cost of my AA membership for this year. It's not due yet so once I have the paperwork in front of me, I'll ring round and see if I can find anywhere else that does it cheaper then go back and see if I can squeeze a further reduction.
Have a good Sunday

Morning all
Pleasures for yesterday - a rather frustrating day but we'll see how we go..
1. Spent the morning doing an admin chore for OH - the pleasure is that if he'd done it, the ranting and swearing would have put huge tension in the house. At least with me doing it, everything was relatively calm. Anyhoo, it's done
2. OH then went to ICT - so it should stay calm for a few days (don't get me wrong, he's great but if there's something to be done that he doesn't want to do then he likes us to know that..)
3. Managed to do some of the marking - i wanted to do 10 courseworks and managed 6.
4. Went for a walk up the lane once the heavy rain stopped.
5. We watched "Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri". Enjoyed it
Have a great day all.

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
Work was OK. It's a long day but no problems and everyone was happy. No after effects from my covid jab number 2 either. Not even a sore arm.
Looked after Person watches tv inbetween our outings and meals so while he was busy I sat down and wrote a list of jobs/travel/miscellaneous stuff that I want to achieve, some sooner, some later. It's not exactly a bucket list as it includes ebaying the junk precious things that the HT no longer wants and cleaning/decorating various bits of the house. I'll be adding to it as I remember things too.
I started running again. My sore knee isn't ligament damage and the effects of not exercising are backache and sciatica so it makes more sense to take a painkiller and run. Resting it won't make it better and running won't make it worse but running makes me feel better so off I go. I was going to start C25K again but I can still run for 5 minutes so I might start it as a way of keeping track but not exactly follow it until week 3 or 4.
I had a chat with the HT about some things that need doing to be able to cross them off the above list. He's amenable to helping so all good.
A photo from my niece of my two great nephews fast asleep on the sofa. The eldest turned 2 at the end of April, the youngest is 3 weeks old. So cute.
SSue the best advice I had was that if I felt that I wasn't coping then just think about what I was going to do for the next hour or next 24 hours and not to try and look at the bigger picture. Also don't make any big decisions in the first year. Biggest hugs.
Take care all of you 😊13 -
memory shot, what on earth did I did yesterday?! oh yes, woke early so
1) watched the rest of Syndicate - very sweet - long soak in the bath during the last episode
2) took the dog to the vet's for a post-surgery check - he's fine but still doesn't like the vet
3) then carried on with an application for a fellowship which has been hanging over me for far too long - on the final straight
4) walked up to mum's while dd2 drove the car back - it actually wasn't raining!!!!
5) we stayed for a cuppa and kitkat (be rude not to) and then walked back - light drizzle, bloomin' cold!
and so far today...
up horribly early, breakfast, carry on with the fellowship, go shopping with mum, back to the fellowship, and tis done. hooray. about 250 words too long (it's max 7000 words). has now gone to mum for proofing / snipping out words. i cannot look at it anymore (well not today anyway!) right, 2nd half of the wolves game and a bowl of hm asian noodle soup - i may have been a bit heavy-handed with the chilli and gingerMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
