Good afternoon
Gosh, it's cold. No chance of an alfresco coffee when we went shopping today. It would have been iced coffee before it was finished.
Supermarket trip. Today's random sold out - coconut milk! I was going to try vegan whipped cream. Another time!
I did buy a dress though in the sale. DH says it will be nice for Christmas Day. That's forward planning indeed.
Lasting Power of Attorney ( well, 3 out of the 4) delivered today. Just need to photocopy now and give copies to DD and DS. Ridiculously pleased that I managed it all by myself!
Made some butterfly buns for bubble friend's visit tomorrow. Ages since we've had them.
Happy November-style day everyone

Happy cas - we've been going through the POA stuff too. Grim to think about but necessary. I keep telling the kids "it's just admin..."
Pleasures for yesterday
1. An excellent solo drive home from Wales. Singing loudly to the Smiths "Heaven knows i'm miserable nooooowwwww". Fab
2. Called in at Alidi on the way past so could avoid an extra journey in the torrential rain.
3. Saw DS before he went to work and DD when she came home
4. Lit the fire and shut the weather out.
5. Watched another episode of Giri/Haji
And today
1. Last formal teaching session - next week is a 'rounding up / summary' session. Hopefully also the end of on line teaching.🤞
2. Only had 6 in this afternoon's class - there should be over 40! - so finished super early and read my book!
3. went for a walk across the fields at lunchtime.
4. Another fire lit
5. Had parmesan crusted turkey steaks for tea - was nice for a change.
NGL i really need the return of some warmer weather.... 🌨I wanna be in the room where it happens15 -
Happycas, well done on sorting out the POA, things people don’t like to talk about.
1 Managed to get through to the doctors receptionist and made her laugh a lot, pleased to be able, and actually managed to get two routine appointments booked in.
2 Hmm tea very nearly was ordered in but instead I put together a turkey bolognaise with rice, as we have had lazy freezer to oven cooking for the past few days.
3 Usual tidying, cleaning and wash loads achieved.
4 Polished off the strawberries with some elmlea.
5 Enjoying all the bird and fox visitors to the garden, I think if I had waited today the robin would have eaten from my hand.

Very quietly puts head round door and whispers hello everyone and grins.
I can't even remember how long it's been since I was last here.
Life continues to be a roller-coaster and I feel pretty swamped with stuff but one really excellent thing is that I have a job at the moment where I can work from home so that's a big change since I was last here. Am keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue for a bit longer. I've gone properly vegan too which had been on my list of things to return to for some time so that's another big plus.Sue, I'm sending you the biggest virtual hug. I hope you are surrounded with lots of love and care at home.Five pleasures for recently:-1. Staring eyeball to eyeball with a round little brown-feathered bird balancing on a rose bush just outside the kitchen window. I couldn't place what sort it was, especially because of its size, but it certainly didn't seem very with it. I was about to look it up online and then suddenly an adult robin came along, fed it and flew off again. It was a fledgling, was quite a lot bigger than it's parent, obviously expected to be cared for even though it had left home, had no sense of danger... I really felt for that parent!2. DS1 gave me a cable to link my new laptop to a second monitor (one of my sons' cast-offs) to help with work and DS2 helped me over the phone this morning to get the two screens to work together properly.3. Not being afraid to open the bank statements any more.4. Realising that I forgot to watch Call the Midwife at the weekend - treat in waiting.5. Managed an afternoon nap.

Hello, Broomstick!
SuffolkSue - hope things are going as smoothly as possible.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Packed smaller son's PC up and it is now in the workshop of a chatty man in floody city.
4) Picked smaller son up from college at 12 and he had had a good day. I'd forgotten that he made me laugh the other day. His back was aching as he had been bent over the table trying to mend his computer. We talked about backs and our general lack of stomach muscles. I said, "Perhaps you could do some sit ups?" and he said, "Well, perhaps you could do some shut ups?!"
5) Went geocaching after lunch. Some lovely scenery along the footpaths.
6) Watched Holby.15 -
Good morning! What a beautiful sunny morning ( though it’s frosty it’s sunny) after the dreary starts to last couple of days. Sun is streaming through my windows. Was too tired to post last night.A day of no going in to work though did have some work stuff to do.Hairdresser at 9am. Oh my goodness. What a difference. So much cut off, all coloured, eyebrows waxed ( oh I’d forgotten how ouchy that was) much chatter and laughter. Needed a scarf later as my neck felt rather bare and cold! Had a work call to deal with so had to stand outside in my cape and hair dyed head! A treat for anyone passing by to behold 😆
Supermarket on way home. It feels like ages since I’ve done a proper shop.Walked dog over the fields with DD1 and my scarf! We could see snow on the mountains! Amazing. Then we went to choose a new phone for me. So I’m trying to get to grips with that as it’s a wee bit different to old one. Old one had got oil into it at work and I’ve spent the last 7 months saying I need a new phone. The volume was so low , new one seems so loud...but I think it’s just normal.Went into a nearby charity shop and came home with a beautiful wooden trug. It’s solid wood and hewn from one sole piece of wood including the handle. Also got two tops and DD1 got a little brooch.Round to mums twice. I walked back , DD1 ran 5km back...she went the long way!Broomstick how lovely to ‘see’ you and hear your news.Sue much love being sent your way. There will be much to be done and a sense of bewilderment at times and a loss of ‘purpose’ ( I really struggled with that). I hope that with easing of restrictions you’ve at least been able to see real people and to have their support.Do have a lovely day!14 -
1. Managed to get to post office after work. Door was closed and locked after I left.
2. Free lunch at work. Sandwich was tasty - hummus and salad.
3. Worked with colleague I rarely work with.by herself. Interesting talking to her - in a good way.
4. Started DH end of year accounts- the first hurdle is out of the way now it's started.
5. Painkillers for a badback.14 -
Hey Broomstick ☺️ good to see you.
Ouchy Villagelife, hope that back feels better soon.
For yesterday,
After a wild night weather wise it was good to see our roof still intact!
Into horsey town and all the racers were on their toes in the windy weather, did a food shop which wasn’t a pleasure as prices seem to go up week to week.
Out to the post office to send off a auction sale, so glad that I had added a scarf to my coat as the wind was bitterly cold, have we skipped summer and gone straight into autumn?
Soup for lunch and then watched an adaptation of Austen’s Emma, it was a bit meh but I enjoyed the costumes etc.
Received an email to say that I had finally reached the pay out level from a survey company so cheque on the way.14 -
nargleblast I watched Blinded by the Light last January when i was in Singapore. My last trip away for who knows who long? Growing up in Luton I also enjoyed spotting places from my past.
Chap on thought for the day has just said his father gave him 'power of eternity' 🤣
for yesterday
1) the beautiful yellow roses i bought dd2 on Sunday
2) meeting friends for lunch (!) - first time we've met since just before Christmas - I was the only one who hasn't yet had her 2nd Jag - I said that's ok, my other car's a Porsche 🤣
3) then quick walk home for important meeting which went well, but do feel i'm slowing down - very tired, need a holiday!
4) long walk with dd2 and the boys after work
5) then an episode of death in paradise, hm spicy bean soup with end of hummus stirred in, and bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Vl, your bad back is too often on duty with you. Thought of you yesterday, hearing this from Peter Ustinov's autobiography:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000vqmb.
1. So bitterly cold again yesterday and thrice hail-bombed, 1st as setting off, 2ndly with armful of CS bits, 3rdly stowing rugby club teatowels hurriedly in boot, over 20 miles and 3hrs.
2. Bleachy boilwashed rugby club teatowels out before 6am. Will be keeping a watch. Rain forecast mid-dayish.
Exciting pic😁
3. Far end fence still up, but only because propped up by walnut tree trunk. Lots to sort there before the annual stain/paint, overdue.
4. Use-up rtc's dish cobbled together several days ago = lush mid-day lunches in icy weather - butternut, ham, basil, cheese, leeks, mushrooms, cottage cheese, end of cream, garlic galore. Cut into 20 portions! It's gorgeous, says & immodestly😋😁
5. Drumroll appropriate, lit. and fig.🥁🎵🎶🎼 Out of the blue comm. reply, yesterday😃. En bref, 'a little song' composed/titled for &!, will be recorded when C. is back in USA next month! & has given £ittle from OAP wkly. C. has been continuing his Berklee USA studies online and has gained Dean's List Award for straight A's! & posts passim on this young man's bg, met when & popped up to Scotland - Inchyra, Glasgow, Edinburgh - for Fistful of Spookies gigs❤.
