Well okay, I'm kinda making this bit up...
Adage Alert : The pain Will stop when you stop slapping yourself.......
Which leads me nicely along to one of my recent pleasures. We have Sky. The box is ancient as is the remote. Recently managed to get a new remote (second hand) for a pound. The surprise I still feel after pressing the buttons and the action having an immediate effect is.....surprising ! See above......tee-hee
have a lovely day

Good afternooon all, pleasures for yesterday....
Gardening mostly
Planting my cheap plants out in their pots/allocated spaces (even happier with this now given today's weather)
I didn't cut the grass while I was gardening first as next door had visitors. Rain stopped play so I went to my bubble friend's house for coffee. By the time I came home the rain had stopped and next door had gone inside so I managed to get the grass cut.
Chat and some crossword puzzling with bubble friend and best friend (we've been together as a slightly larger bubble since I went into hospital and they both helped out looking after the HT).
A roast dinner - the HT claimed to have been looking forward to it all day
Online gaming and a chat with best friend.
Happy Anniversary PK. Anniversary fish and chips sounds perfect.
Take care all of you 😊15 -
And the workety work is done! Hurrah! Was a crazy busy shift. Back to ye olden days of dine in!Alarm was set for 6am but woke 10 minutes before. I’d crashed last night about 7.30pm and had slept the sleep of a very tired person! Not waking up once which is most unusual.Watched LOD this morning before work. It’s rained most of the day here quite heavily which is so needed for the gardens. Was expecting DD1 to boo me so was peering round corners to get her first, she wasn’t even in! Only 5 days of boo time left.Tips were a wee bit better than of late ( though not by much) so added to the jar.15

Quick pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Made French toast with blueberries and banana.
3) Went to see bigger son in the afternoon. Not entirely sure he wanted me there (he did ask me to go!) so I spent 1 hour 20 doing his and his colleagues' washing up...
4) Popped to Tesco with smaller son.
5) Watched the film Sully. First film I've watched in months.14 -
happy anniversary PK
wonder if it's due to the pandemic frith? i too haven't seen a movie in months
1) boss and I finished (I hope) addressing responses from referees for a paper
2) due to weather forecast decided to go on run at lunch time. week 6 # 1 C25K. This has been my fave run so far - all 3 I felt I could have run further (exactly 5 months till 10K)
3) yummy hm spicy bean soup for lunch with a big dollop of lo hummus stirred in, by which time the weather had deteriorated
4) some good meetings this afternoon as the weather got worse and worse
5) mum came round with the car cos dd2 was going to the gym. dd2 dropped us and the dogs off at mum's then came back after the gym. We decided to walk home - very wet and cold so change into onesies, fire on and an episode of death in paradiseMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Weekend pleasures:
OH at work on Sunday so I went to visit my sister in law who I had not seen, apart from a Christmas doorstep drop off, for months. We sat in her large kitchen/diner next to the large open patio doors. Good chat and catch up.
Back home and sorted out dinner, roast chicken etc. Haven’t cooked a whole chicken for years, it was small and cook in the bag, quite tasty.
Watched Line of Duty.
Monday morning and OH was off work so he went to cut elderly neighbour’s grass and then back home to finish pressure washing the drive and then cut the grass. I planted up more pansies in baskets and pots and generally tidied up.
We knew the storm was coming so removed my new mirror and new owl wind chime to safety. Torrential rain and very windy so glad we got jobs done before hand.
I had made Yorkshire batter mix earlier and converted the remaining chicken into a casserole to have with the Yorkshire puds with mash and veg, very tasty and filling. I had also made a sort of trifle with some leftover sponge, butterscotch angel delight (not had that for years) and strawberries 🍓. Quite retro food this weekend but very good 😊
Have a great Tuesday everyone 😘

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday
Looking out through the pouring rain at my tidy garden
Collecting the HT's partner in the car instead of him having to get a bus
Coming home to a warm and cosy house
Easy dinner for the teens - pizza. I had leftover curry from the other night so my dinner was quick and easy too
Hot bath and pjs on - one of my most favourite things to do (I do it every night when the weather is cold, when it's warm I shower - it's the only way for me to get warm if I'm cold).
Take care all of you 😊14 -
For yesterday,
Over to the yard, fun with equine girlie who was ahem bouncy and on her toes.
Following a car on the way home which had a sticker in its rear windscreen saying “ my co pilot is a Staffie “ cute ☺️
Warm sausage rolls for lunch.
The weather deteriorated and the house all of a sudden felt cold so heating put on, in May!
Chatty texts with eldest niece about crystals, she wanted to know which ones I had and what I use them for.13 -
Yesterday's Bank Holiday pleasures....
Online choir rehearsal, first one of term, always a joy and really energising.
Home made chicken curry (chucking in a few leftover cooked veg and some leftover coconut milk) for lunch with rice and saag aloo (to use up some leftover potatoes). Get me being all frugal. It was tasty.
Moving stuff around in the study to clear space for son's new piano, a treat he decided to splash out on. A couple of grandmother clocks are going to the BHF (being collected next week) to make room. Those clocks were my OH's pleasures, we have had them for years but I am now tired of having to keep winding them so someone else can have the pleasure of their company. An exercise bike also going to the BHF, I mean, the intention is good but I never get to use it. Once those things have gone the study will be a study and music room, not a dumping ground. Good Feng Shui, Zen or whatever.
Dog missed her morning walk so I girded my loins, got the wellies and raincoat in and took her out in the rain late afternoon. Yes, we got wet, but she had a lovely time and found a massive great "sticky thing" for her collection. We have a small pile of tree branches outside our house from her walks.
Watched a feelgood film, Blinded by The Light, about a British Pakistani teenager growing up in the 1980s influenced by Bruce Springsteen. Enjoyable, some cliche characters but a good depiction of generational and cultural differences and a reminder of those times. And good music of course, both Springsteen and bhangra.
Reading Terry Pratchett's Maskerade on my Kindle in bed whilst the cats and dog snuggled up out of the rain.
