Later than normal.
1. Snowdrops nestling in the snow by the church when I walked to the post office.
2. Stopped and talked to a few people I knew on my walk.
3. Chat with my parents on the phone.
4. Messaged a coup!e of friends. One has decided not to go for a promotion.
5. Electric heater. We have reduced heating here as have a coup!e of radiators out of action so Bala keep warm as it's cold enough here.

Colder than ever today
Bala - hope you can get something sorted, one way or another.
Trip to garden centre gardens to meet DD, but very brief visit because it was so cold. Good to see her though and she's recovering well from her operation. Managed to walk round for a while nursing a cup of coffee to keep my hands warm.
OH occupied talking to Alexa. She doesn't answer back like me!I
Pleased that all my friends of a similar age have been vaccinated. The powers that be seem to be on the ball round here.
Happy freezing cold day everyone

Bala - hugs.
Foodie type pleasures when the diet is relaxed for the weekend…
1 Cooked up a chocolate brownie valentines, which sounds more romantic than a diabetic friendly sweet its part 70 percent dark choc, coconut flour and cranberry concoction, made to look like brownies. With a heart on top made of brazil nuts.
2 Cooked up a decent meal, put marinated pork chop parcels, and veg parcels in the oven to cook through and served with minted pots.
3 I took some things out of the freezer for meal planning, including the rather large Turkey joint.
4 A pleasure I am not de cluttering today as it’s the weekend.
5 I’m about to light a candle and curl up with a book, ohh and dessert when it’s cooked through hich was a Christmas desert I found in the freezer from Lidl a Rhubarb and custard crumble.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son made a cooked breakfast.
3) Hens ok and I took some warm water down, hoping that would keep it from freezing for longer.
4) Finally sorted the incredibly bureaucratic NHS app. I was looking forward to looking at my medical records but it only shows the last year and I haven’t been for about 5 years.
5) Popped to my parents’ (waved from afar) as I had run out of firewood.
6) Bigger son reinsured his car (it has been parked on his father’s drive for 3 months) so we walked up to get it. If we’d driven, I couldn’t have driven my car home whilst sitting in his car supervising. It is about 4 miles across the fields and bitterly cold today.
7) Bigger son’s car went berserk and locked us in repeatedly. There was then no way out (even manually pulling the door locks up did nothing). He had to climb out of the window, opened the car from outside, got in again, drove off and it locked us in again! We decided to drive up the Clee Hill (far enough to recharge the battery) and sort it out up there, but there was a mini blizzard... so we came down off the hill and had to sit imprisoned in the car while we searched online to find out how to reset it.
8) Picked 3 bags of muck up from the usual farm.
9) National Trust magazine arrived and an EBay top - haven’t got round to reading/trying them on yet.
10) More snow and bitterly cold. Lit the fire and 6 lanterns in the living room.
11) Made homemade wedges, chicken nuggets and PSB for tea.
12) Can’t get warm so an in bed with my hwb waiting for Casualty.12 -
Hello. Much work. Much getting up early. Much working later in evening to prep for following day, Much alarm clock setting. It is bitterly cold here. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as cold. Such a frozen tundra like feeling! ( not that I’ve ever been to the tundra...I just imagine it to be be blastingly cold.
There has been work. There have been dog walks and much rejoicing in me returning from work. Both from the dog and myself!
Got a load of very RTC flowers last night after I’d finished work late. Valentine’s Schmalentines! I’m happy with a bouquet or two for a couple of pounds bought for me by me!We had snow.Bed time for me as up in a few hours...is it Tuesday lunchtime yet? That’s when the madness stops!11 -
Hugs Bala
Frith - hope you got out. How bizarre
Pleasures for today
1. more Peaky Blinders
2. fetched a tin of Frenchic chalk paint that i bought online yesterday. Very well organised with the click and collect. Now when i am inspired to repaint the unit in the hall, I have the wherewithal to do so
3. A long walk with OH - 6 miles across the frozen fields
4. Wales v Scotland - Cymru am byth. Real edge of the seat stuff to the final second.
5. now i'm jammies on, fire lit and a film awaits. I think it's going to be Anna Karenina.
have a good evening all. (hey, look, for once i've not mentioned food!!)I wanna be in the room where it happens13 -
Had engineer (3rd or 4th one) today. Weirdly the radiators upstairs were warm. Definite need for power wash/flush. Sadly sludge in system has made a few components (heat exchanger, expander, pump and 2 valves) break down, lose efficacy. My instinct, although costly, would be to have the power wash and a new boiler. Repairing/replacing all the separate components, plus labour, will be a false economy as what will go next ? There are schemes out there where you can pay monthly with no interest charged, for a new boiler. I wouldn't chose this path if our boiler was in good condition and had been regularly serviced.
As it's going to take a month or 2 for OH to make a decision I decided to buy 2 heaters to see us through. Well, bet you can guess what happened. The ones I want are like hens teeth. Screwfixit told me they have none left in the country. Am looking at alternatives. However, lesson learned ! Always have a back-up.
Talking to my Mum today about pending blood test results I told her that I wasn't worried so as not to worry her. Her response was that she wasn't worried as I am as tough as old boots !
Eh ?
She listed some of the things I have been through the last 10 years and ended with 'yes, you are as tough as old boots'. It made me laugh and so told my Mum that that is the second nicest thing she has said to me and it will be treasured.
Blackbeard, I have told OH many many times over the last 10 years (at least) that this particular insurance is a waste of money and to just set aside the same amount in a separate account or premium bonds. He won't listen because he wants the security of the insurance but not abiding by their terms (regular FREE service) has meant they won't pay out anyway. I reckon that we have paid for 3 new boilers over that time 'cos it ain't cheap ! Thankfully my Mum uses your method.
Stuck Like Glue, is..........in a duvet next to me. I have her all cocooned with just her little nose sticking out. She is lovely and warm and seems happy enough.
I am learning a lot through something as mundane as the boiler going kaput, the threads and forums on here. Somehow, I just feel stronger, more centered. That's a long lasting pleasure.
Keep warm and well

Hooman Watch News.
Yesterday at about 3pm watched a fox watching me in the kitchen. One of my foxes that is secure enough to stay at the bottom of the garden whilst I am working/cooking in the kitchen.
I had put out some offcuts of fat/meat at about 6am but there were no takers until this one came along. Very thin with 2 black front legs. Now named Nero. Am sure food was frozen at this point and am sure it was burying it. Fascinating to watch. I then put out a tin of sardines with bread soaked in the oil. Eventually taken but not sure who took it.
Always watching out for my Grace but no luck. Sadly haven't seen her for at least 6-8 weeks. Hope she's okay.

1. Long Chat with a friend. We speak each Saturday. Not sure what we chat about for so long.
2. Went for walk to the post box. There were so many cars that I had to keep stopping for - no pavements and a narrow road still with snow in it.. I didn't recognise any of the cars so used our road as a cut through. Not sure if all the journeys were essential travel.
3. Chat with DS1 on the phone.
4. Changed our bed sheets. Also cleaned the bedroom and it looks good.
5. Had an Indian takeaway. It was very good.11
