Ha, very true VJS but think how much better for toning thighs!
Good news on the docs appointment Bala
For yesterday,
Capt S has received a referral to hospital clinic and has an appointment for next Tuesday, GP offered steroids to help with pain management but beloved decided he wants specialist to see true picture so declined. Good thing is that help is happening quickly.
Baked bread so cheese & pickle sandwiches for lunch, sometimes simple is best.
At the yard, worked girlie over poles in the school and she was an angel compared to day before, my mercurial mare. Good chat with fellow livery owner, suitably distanced of course, her lad has heat in a fetlock after acting like a loon in his field so no riding for her.
As I was leaving the rain clouds were drifting away and the sun coming out, sunglasses on and 12 degrees showing on car thermometer, brief tease of spring coming.
Full moon rising in evening sky, Wolf moon and the last before Imbolc.

The highlight of the last few days was fish and chips for tea from our favourite restaurant. Just take away now of course, but a tasty treat.
Am feeling so 'stalled' I even contemplated approaching the board re marking ( sorry, BoP. Another red pen pusher here - though it's a mouse to push nowadays) Then I gave myself a good talking to and reminded myself that by May, perhaps we'll be able to go to our caravan.
Sausage, chips etc for tea. And apple crumble and custard. That should cheer me up
Happy afternoon everyone

Smoked salmon and Scrambled Eggs yum!MandM90 - great big hugs & long sleeps to you, DH & Roo! Dear gods yes, do not attempt to do everything you used to - your me- & our- time has just been invaded, so prioritise & if that means only hoovering before the midwife is due, Fine. (Mine grinned at the two toddlers & a newborn mayhem, and cheered me on bless her. An immaculate house always worried her, professionally!)Bala - a man who can make a cup of tea without prompting is above rubies. Flowers are a special pleasure. Sneaking lentils into the mince in the slow cooker - atta girl!Happycas - Pilates & treacle pud sounds an admirable combination! Hope your jab comes along soon. Fish & chips are stunning after a break.Cranky - don't set yourself back with the housework. Well done, HT! Downside of weight loss is you do feel the cold more. A phone interview & conditional place - oh fingers crossed for you both! (You still get funded while he's in education, yes?)Frith - Adult Mental Health First Aid course? Well, at least you don't have to do any "hands on" learning. Ah, custom mattresses. These chaps https://www.purrolux.com/ can't spell (on their website) but phone them, & you should get solid Bury sense & folks who've been making mattresses for decades.ampersand - Absolute power - oh gods & the NVQ references - my aching aching ribs! Argh technology <reaches for mallet>Purple kitten - I regard Neil Gaiman as one of the great storytellers of our years - he was working on something & wanted to see how it worked read aloud, borrowed a space in a Liverpool Uni hall & next day they had to move him to a bigger (300 folks) room which was packed... OS Pleasures recently (well, the last fortnight or so, ye gods)The rustling of tinfoil “what doing?” “Making headgear” “and?” “Ribs”. Youngest taking care of evening meal & mental health. [Middleson now searching for ribs for lunch - just hope youngest’s was right & there is a pack in the crypt.]“Hand him the chocolate mothballs” - the Maltesers survived the first opening?! Awed. The fun of Facebook is I see my fellow leaders subbed in for New Year Scout activities & the “show me the strangest utensil” Scavenger Hunt strikes me as, um, a bit hazardous. Still, having family occasionally sharing the space makes for “hullo!” & waving opportunities - we’ve “recruited” three younger siblings & a cat (so far) this year.Yes! The digital bat (hi pitch 3D printer) has been relocated to engineers own room. Two door between me & headset - hopefully enough!National Rifle Association has filed for bankruptcy. Seeing exactly who’s paid membership will make for affordable journalism for several days. Not quite as embarrassing as the dating site data, probably.Someone figured the “lick your own elbow” as a parenting hack when homeschooling. Now for English, find words that rhyme with silver, orange, marathon, wolf & purple.... Loved the tweet that youngest had mastered telling dog to Sit & was now working on his brother. We finally finished Game of Thrones! As a tv show, it was intended to shame films & then it did. Now the production techniques used on the Mandolorian are rewriting special effects.Made mango chutney with youngest, who is both Hero of the Day & snarling serf depending on which parent he’s vented to. I think he’s Wonderful. He’s writing the labels & we’re suggesting Best Bolshevik Mango Chutney Jan 2021...Channel hopping, the audio track went “the Proud Boys, last seen demonstrating in California: the xylophone is a newcomer to brass” - I love a brass band, & had flipped to a behind the scenes brass competition. Would have made a lovely documentary, but the producers played up the jeopardy bit.We wimped out of Stardust - the lad would watch it again & again. It’s a very good film, but I haven’t the courage yet. Soon, I hope.Family zoom, sister’s eczema has flared & she plans to show the rash to her pharmacist. I suggested both an appointment & having a chaperone handy to avoid misunderstanding & as we roared with laughter, there was a peeved “I was trying to sleep” thud on the wall. Ah family comms...E street band horns “Pay me my money down” live in Oslo 2013 - glorious! (Also more able to get me up exercising than the virtuous lady leading the chair yoga.)I have slippers. My toes are warm. Himself is muttering something about “how many times” but oooh warm toes.Son-in-Disgrace (telling me I Cannot go drive to get the shopping) has learned a valuable lesson in the Bad Translation of “I love you & I worry” then redeemed himself by adjusting a bit of window catch so the cold draught doesn’t get in.Oh my scouts! Online Pictionary of a sort just we chose our own strange item & trying to live down the bazooka, all my room did very impressive drawings of a Star Wars Jawa (small, robed, technical - my family gave it to me as character I most resemble...)Lidl have haggis - but only in Scotland. How can we celebrate Burns without haggis?! [Sorted but oh my poor cousins in France, enjoying the Auld Alliance but lacking the haggis on Burns Night.]The Internet is erratic. New supplier & router, lost all wifi extensions. Vociferous complaints from all to whom wifi is as cherished as food...“He’s debaucherous!” a harsh judgement of your brother for loving an occasional kebab....Husband tried one bite of chutney “needs thickening” - ah, vinegar fumes again....Why is it the bickering over the washing up takes longer than the washing up?! Ponders she swapping slippers (amazing invention!) for boots to haul the rubbish & recycling out - an easy alternative to the washing up.I really miss the eldest lad when his brothers row about minor things, partly as they’re hungry & partly as they enjoy the yellings.Corned beef hash! I ate too much, but it was delicious.Oh, my Scouts! Rewrote the country code to mandate cafes, compost toilets & Really strict enforcement of clearing up after dogs.Conversation at stair head “You want to overtake, or are you checking I don’t do anything stupid?” “Think it’s a bit late for that, mum” as he hurtles downstairs.Torn between amusement & horror at the Redditors giving Wall St a sharp lesson. Mostly amusement but a slight twitch of is my pension safe from these humourists? (Yes - short held stock is very different, it’s just the same market square.)Spotted a bloke changing a wheel, cars one way sensible, the other less so as only one red triangle. So I puttered out with mine, just as he’s tightened the bolts on the spare. Still, he was touched someone saw & cared.Right, health strength love & courage to all as have need, & may a wonderful weekend await? Says she eyeing Storm Justine, supposed to share snow - we currently have a team aim of snow angel photos for Monday....15 -
I often come along after a DFV novelette!Work worked. Struggled to get going this morning but once I did was okay. And the catering I did was made into a reel on the purchasers Instagram account so I was quite chuffed! Then time to go the mothers. Sigh! Tidied up again. It just gets messed up so quickly again. But hoovered. Dishes. Shopping away. Stairs hoovered and bedrooms where I could reach. Bathroom cleaned. DD2 came along. They sat and compared hospital tales! Then home and just pottered around quietly. Where I was a dog usually wasn’t too far away.11

D4V, I am in awe as always, a shared love of Mr Gaimen’s work. I’m not sure on this but I vaguely remember in the book Stardust there are different endings to the film, that I am sure you will love again with memories one day.
&, Sorry about the lost posts, is it worth typing it out in a draft email and copying it over to the forum, that way there’s a backup in case?
Bala, glad you have been able to get appointments so quickly.
1 The nearly full moon visible from the sofa.
2 A lot more paperwork dealt with, and I found a work award I was nominated for an won, 15 years ago now, I had forgotten about.
3 I’m feeling motivated, well more motivated than I have been in a while at sorting things out, my laptop is now on it’s way out, HDD errors, no longer charging you name it, so I am just making sure everything saved off centrally and not on the desktop as is my easy way out.
4 Online messages with MIL and DB.
5 Hoping to finish a book I’m reading.

Pleasures for today (Friday) whilst waiting for the next lot of snow:
1) A lie in.
2) Smaller son’s new mattress and cover arrived so he now has 6 feet 6 of mattress, rather than 6 feet then pillows to rest his feet on! He could do with a 7 feet mattress really.
3) Hens ok.
4) Bigger son had a lucky escape. He was climbing today when a piece of rock sheared off, where he had attached some sort of extra clip. As he thought “oh, this will make me drop about a metre”, there was a bang and the other emergency clip pulled out under the weight of him falling. He dropped another metre and all that was holding him then was the original rope and he ended up in the grass on his bum with some force, but no harm done.
5) Had muntjac steaks for tea, with leeks and chips from the van.
6) Did an online quiz.
7) Bigger son applied to be an extra in a medieval based film that will be shot locally. Took about an hour to fill in all his measurements etc. They want yokels so we sent a photo of him without his false tooth!
8) Watched the Last Leg.15 -
Good Morning OSPers.

Friday
1. Smaller Greyhound was allowed a short walk today. She enjoyed it, but was flagging even before we left the park.......She is slowly getting back to her normal self.
