Good afternoon
MandM - 'all safe and healthy' is a pleasure to surpass all others😃
Bala - making up your own recipes! Masterchef!
After yesterday's walk, my hips ached dreadfully so I promised myself I would walk again today. But the day started off icy, and then turned to rain! Best laid plans.... So I did some yoga instead.
Am making a peach and blueberry crumble, making up recipes, Bala style. We had some peaches that are very sour and some frozen blueberries that have been hanging around for ever. We'll see how it turns out.
Have been doing lockdown v3.0 spring cleaning in the hope that when the real spring arrives there'll be more interesting things to do. Or that we're allowed to do, I should say.. There are always more interesting things to do than housework, I think.
Happy ☔Wednesday everyone

Happycas you're right!
1. Got up at 4 this morning, due to baby. Thankfully I went to sleep at 9 and he only woke at 10 and 2 so I got some sleep. Pleasure is, I managed to make a crumble - apple and frozen blueberries lurking in freezer - and a three bean chilli for later today.
2. In laws brought round some Sabra houmous they got RTC for 45p. It's usually £2 but is my absolute favourite, so luxurious. Enjoyed by at all lunch, me on homemade bread and the rest had with carrot sticks (I had carrot soup for lunch so didn't want more carrot!)
3. Dinner last night - DD made root veg and herby dumpling stew from the Veganuary budget free print out cookbook. It was a hit all round and is on the meal plan for next week. Under 60p per serving and packed full of good stuff.
4. Work going better today. Still crazy busy but feeling on the ball and appreciated and massive support from the Directors which is good.
5. Managed 20 mins reading last night, despite the madness. Am re-reading Year of Wonders about Eyam during the Plague. Pertinent right now and a beautiful book.
6. DH and DD have really stepped up with housework so the house is OK. Woke up to a perfect kitchen this morning, for instance, which is always a good start to the day.14 -
mhagster said:Lainey can you share your tea loaf recipe? I used to make one when we were first married and it was lovely. But no idea where the recipe is /was/ gone! Thank you 😊Simple really, soak 375g of mixed dried fruit and 250g of light brown sugar in 300ml of hot, strong tea overnight, having given it a good stir first.
Then mix in 300g of self raising flour together with 1 beaten egg, grease and line the bottom of a 2lb loaf tin and bake in a 150C / 130 fan oven for approx 1.5 to 1.75 hours. Leave to cool in the tin for 10 mins and then turn out on wire rack to cool completely.13 -

Afternoon all - i'm afraid i'm struggling to find pleasures atm (nothing serious just general fed-up ness at the same old same old).
However, here goes
1. Some walks - including one round the block with a friend and her little doggy
2. Nice food - we have been menu planning rather than each day going "what shall we have for tea". The menu planning is better.
3. Have been sleeping a little better than i was
4. Work was OK
5. Still ploughing through Outlander and we watched a very gentle, lovely (apart from gratuitous sex scenes) BBC 3 thing called "Back to Life"; OH and i watched a film about Helen Reddy too which was better than IMDB would have you believe.
Hope everyone is doing OK.
I wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
Happycas, let me repeat this in suitably imperious tone, from a friend who no longer remembers from whom she 'borrowed ' it😁:
'My idea of housework is to sweep💃the room with a glance.'

1. Excellent Addenbrookes again. Again & gratitude. Again(amazingly), doing as told. Final op. date awaited, & said prioritise others, please.
Vl - DG you are receiving both jabs in timely way.
2. Hairwash with thumb care, but both hands bare👐. Felt wonderful after 2 months.
3. Yes Lainey, long-tailed tits back in number. Always good to hear and see. Aerobatics similar to NZ fantails. Also green woodpecker, rare here, though woodpeckers' 5-note falling call is sometimes heard far off in summer. 2 days in a row he's come now.
4. Lucky emporium times last night, especially for....ahem, chocolate torsades+similar, but shared🙂. Well, pains aux raisins DO contain fruit....
Also excellent seedy birdy loaves - everything rtc 10p.
5. 4 lovely book parcels collected.

Last night & fall meant tea everywhere. No blood, just whopping head lump and a bit doo-lally. Doing near nil today.

Closing with sign of the stupidity of current times. & took a dozen labels. How long things will take to be anywhere, qui sait?!!!
Pic to insert.
Osp is &🤬rant about whole disgusting situ.

Hello. Just been on my very first zoom call...slightly late to the zoom party! It would do my head in to do that all day every day so I’m thankful I haven’t needed to!Anyway a disturbed night with a vomiting doggy! Grrrr ( me growling not him) watched a program in middle of night in case I had to go out again so woke up at 7.55am which is like the afternoon for me!Chatted to niece on phone.
Then whilst getting dressed the door was knocked and a friend had popped in to collect something I was giving away. She’d said she’d message...so I had to grab my top and run downstairs...top on back to front and inside out. Duh! Anyway nice chat at front door...she’d to stand in the rain but had a big coat on!Oh for the days when you can have friends in your house and even more radical give them a hug! Then time for a big doggy walk. Mostly wet with a few icy patches along the way.
Mini snoozette in the afternoon. Had the fire on.Started and have almost finished a book I was sent, very kindly!Didn’t bother with tea as we ate late lunch when DD2 came in from work.
Been doing a facial massagey thing on zoom so I’m all aglow and smelling delightful! Thanks for the recipe Lainey hope it tastes as good as it looks!16 -
Vjsmum I know the feeling.Ampersand fab photo, and love the housework saying, I'm going to use that one. x
Lainey, ohh one of my favourite birdies, we nickname them Drumsticks, they come down most days en mass.
1 DHs hair clippers have more than earned their keep with another lockdown haircut for him, I don’t think I will ever get used to cutting hair, but saying that I am managing to make it passable.
2 The first shopping since the 23rd arrived and it was all there, tonight’s food is grilled marinated chicken boiled spuds with HM coleslaw/salad. I spent time today learning to adjust the diet again this time for blood pressure, still reading up on it tonight.
3 The house is hoovered up a pleasure for a day. Animal bedding all changed and various wash loads cycled around, a strange pleasure but feels nice to be up to date.
4 There was a nap, for all of 10 mins but still a nap.
5 I'm making a to do list not sure if it's a pleasure as it seems a bit long and daunting at the moment.
