For yesterday,
Hearing MacKenzie Crook on the breakfast radio show say that he hadn’t discounted another series of The Dectectorists, one of my very favs.
A day of constant rain, out early to cathedral city and their open air market. There were big queues for the F&V stalls, we are ok but did visit the cheese & pie man for a few well chosen treats. The Brie is so ripe it could have walked home by itself!
A very bedraggled looking Robin sitting on the kitchen windowsill.
At the yard, it was coming down in stair rods so left girlie snuggled up in stable, one hardy child was just finishing their lesson so then a very wet Shetland came back into the barn but was towelled down and rugged up quick. Then the yard owner and myself had a good chat whilst watching the rain coming down.
Tasty tea of Moroccan chicken with lemon couscous.

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday...
Last morning at my friend's house before Christmas and we finished clearing things from downstairs. Her Christmas tree is up and my reward was two bags of potatoes from a large sack of spuds that another friend had dropped off to her.
Two bags of potatoes reallocated to my cousin when we socially distanced dropped off her Christmas present. Cousin was very pleased with the potatoes and with the present.
Yummy dinner - fillet steak and chips with beans for the HT and with mushrooms and port & stilton sauce for me.
The HT and I watched some flix of net together untl he was tired enough to go to sleep.
Being snuggled up in my own warm bed thinking about how lucky I am. Lovely (most of the time) HT, warm house, comfy bed, enough food, heat and light and clean clothes when I want them.....lots of things to be thankful for.
Merry Christmas all of you, take care and stay safe13 -
Merry Christmas Cranky. And to HT, of course.
Just a quick update on Hooman Watch.
Saw a Robin on the fence, xmas is here !
Had some flakes of tuna left over, not enough to do anything with so put them at the bottom of plastic tray. Then I lightly buttered some brown seeded bread (rtc and deliberately bought for the birds as pet shop closed) and put that on top of the tuna. Just watched the crows chuck all the bread onto the table and eat the tuna. Then one of my wood pigeons turned up and was quite happy with the bread. Phew !
A great day wished to all..........

Pleasures today -
Walking doggy in the snow. Yes it has been snowing on and off since this morning.
Putting fresh linen on the beds for tonight. Junior cat was trying to help, then plonked himself down for a snooze once the duvet was back in situ.
Going back out to bring in the green. Bits of spruce, leylandii, and ivy now dotted around the house, smelling gorgeous.
Buffet lunch full of goodies, we're just going to pick at stuff for the rest of the day now.
Listening to son's favourite radio station Berliner Rundfunk 91.4 where carols in German are currently being sung. They played part of the Hallelujah chorus earlier, magnificent.
All the Christmas lights on in the house.
Watching and listening to Rock Choir on You Tube, day 12 of their 12 days of Advent. Some of the leaders from the south were able to gather in an outdoor location and sing for us. Love their version
of Fairytale of New York, performed acapella, only first verse and chorus naturally.
We will be following the German tradition and opening presents later, then some mindless TV.
Tomorrow I will be at work but home by 14:00. Son will have instructions to put the turkey crown in the oven, as he would like us to eat at 15:00. Vegetables and side dishes can just be slung in the oven once the turkey comes out, and the Christmas pud can be microwaved. Brandy butter in the fridge. Much falling down liquid will be consumed.
Merry Christmas one and all.One life - your life - live it!14 -
