Welcome back BoP
Pleasures of the last two days
1. Everything is ready for the big day - well, almost
2. A couple of walks - one in the countryside and one into town. Both briefer than usual but at least i got out
3. Started my marking - marking is not a pleasure but the hurdle of beginning it is
4. It brought forth a gem "collateral warranties remove the need to have to negotiate and get the warrantors to execute large numbers of people"
5. wrapped the kids' pressies - just OH's to do.
I wanna be in the room where it happens13 -
Edited to add, Welcome Back BOP
1 Well Christmas baking has arrived, I decorated the cake using Mary Berrys Royal Icing recipe, it was met with wow it looks great. Phew genuinely my first decorating that doesn’t look like a toddler flung it on, I then followed it up with my first chocolate yule log first and last, goodness what a faff more of a Christmas stump, never again, however it does taste great! All to Christmas music in the background which helps. Given it’s just the two of us I am sure lots will be frozen down, but nice to have made things.
2 Food today was chicken soup for lunch, I was in the process of making the stew when I opened the meat and had to rapidly open the door, it was very off and now I don’t want tea anymore! So it’s a veg stew hopefully the smell will be out of my nostrils by then!
3 Obligatory Christmas film.
4 The house has had an obligatory clean and tidy up.
5 A chat with DB lovely to catch up.

Up and in early at work. One more to go! In supermarket twice for work and then twice for me and mother! Totally over busy shops and queues!Had a lovely walk with girls down our woods went to see OH tree and then had met his best friend and other good friends, who all go out walking once a week. So had a nice chat with them.Popped over to friends to drop off her daughters presents so quick chat with them.
Back to work for an hour to go over prep for tomorrow. ( mahoosive day for catering)
Just got takeaway for tea. Then just been a very big doggy walk and posted cards that didn’t get done last night. Tis 1o and chilly! Beautiful star filled sky.10 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) A lie in.
2) Rained all day and it is now still pouring down but with a storm as well. The proper flood defences are in place on the far side of the river - in February they had to rush to put temporary defences up and the river went over the top.
3) Hens OK and I took down 2 corn on the cobs to keep them busy.
4) Made and iced some cookies.
5) Smaller son's favourite pork loin chops for tea in sauce with wedges, broccoli and carrots.
6) Watched and very much enjoyed the Christmas episode of Ghosts.12 -
Welcome back BOP. As a relative newbie, only been reading along for about 2 years! I still don’t understand all of your post but it usually makes me smile 😊
OH now finished work until 4th January as he is using up some annual leave
Finally wrapped the last of the presents 🎁
Finished my foliage table arrangements- look quite good
Easy dinner - pizza for him and picky bits (as my niece calls them) for me as we won’t be having any visitors to eat them ☹️
Mince pie and ice cream for pud accompanied by a glass of Baileys
Night all

For the past couple of days.
For Tuesday
1. Spoke with some nice people at work and was complimented that I had reassured someone.
2. DS1 was well enough to work but was shattered at the end of the day.
3. Had spare wrapping paper to give to DS1.
4. Turkey collected
5. I have received the first part of the vaccine. My arm feels heavy but feel much better than after every flu jab I have had.
For yesterday
1. My sister arrived at 7.30 to exchange presents.
2. Work ok and finished for the year. Had to go to a ward for a while.
3. Dropped presents of at a friends and had socially distanced chat. Her dogs weren't good on the socially distanced part of it.
4. DS2 had cooked which was lovely.
5. Lighting my advent candle.11 -
VL - pleased one of 'ours' has had the vaccine. MiL and SiL (a nurse) had theirs on Sunday. Niece (also a nurse) had hers on Monday. MiL said "oh but (SiL) couldn't get one for (BiL)" to which i fair exploded - neither should she, he isn't elderly, isn't vulnerable, isn't a front line worker! He is terrified of getting the virus but we're all afraid of that.
Pleasures for yesterday will be tricky as i had my first ever flu shot on Monday and began feeling terribly ill yesterday lunchtime!
Anyhoo pleasures must be found
1. In Alidi at 7.05 and home before 8. Woke up at 6.45 and checked when they opened, as it said 7 i threw on some clothes and quickly brushed teeth and dashed down. It was quite busy but not madly so.
2. decorated the christmas cake - this rarely gets done prior to christmas but it is very basic. I'm not artistic enough to do owt fancy
3. Managed to clean the bathrooms before feeling ill (largely very light-headed, dizzy and sick - later on I got the shivers).
4. had a steamy bath (after taking tablets to make me feel rather better). Watched and loved the first episode of Outlander - there's an awful lot more!
5. The family did the rest of the chores - hoovering, downstairs loo and dusting.
Feeling a little better today (though i am not 100% sure yet) - will make sticky toffee pud for tomorrow shortly.
Have a wonderful christmas all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Good morning
Met my friend at a garden centre yesterday. Brr, it's cold sitting on a bench in December, but the garden centre has been a life saver. They sell takeaway coffee, hot sandwiches and cakes, and have a show garden with benches dotted about. But I'd rather be in their nice warm cafe!
Still doing very little yesterday, but today will be all systems go. Ham to cook ( I don't think it will fit in the slow cooker so will have to go in the oven.. In which case I might pre cook some other things while the oven is on) and several tons of veg to prepare. There will only be four of us on the day, but we still prepare enough for twenty four every year. But it does all get eaten over the next few days.
Our Christmas has been low key lately so it won't be too different really but I do feel for those who were looking forward to seeing special people and now can't.
Hoping everyone has the very best Christmas day they can.
Happy Christmas Eve everyone
