Good to see you Frith, you have been missed. So glad to read that your eldest’s friend was found and also of the progress made in getting youngest into college, you have toiled for so long to achieve it.
Love love Charlie M &, he leaves signed copies of his books in telephone boxes, on park seats etc for folk to find.
For yesterday,
Wrapping presents and singing along to the radio.
Over to the yard to wait for farrier, after an hour I texted to ask are you coming soon and got a reply on my way, when he arrived he admitted that had forgotten and was at home!
Pleasure is that all the nail holes have now grown out and her feet are hard & strong so pleased we transitioned to barefoot.
Small dog sniffing the air as I lifted the lid off the slow cooker to check on the casserole.
We always exchange our cards for each other at Yule, my beloved made me cry with the wonderful things he said in mine, I am truly blessed.
Our Yule celebration meal, said beef casserole with dauphinois pots and red cabbage followed by lemon & elderflower pudding, stuffed!

Hello Frith
many congratulations on securing college place for your son. Your fortitude is amazing.
Sorry to hear chickens are not well. Hope they get well soon.
It is rare for my brother to voice that he isn't keen on what I am cooking. I had some rtc high quality burgers (not keen) and rtc Warburtons Thin Bagels. He is not a lover of bread. I told him to trust me and he loved the meal I produced. Woila ! .........as he would say. Yes, he says it with a 'W'. So much so that I don't think I will ever pronounce it properly again.
OH has this thing about Flash All Purpose Cleaner. I don't because I buy products at half/third of the price that do the job just as well. The last time he picked one up at the supermarket I turned to tell him that we already had 2 big bottles at home he quickly said 'but I like it'. Without thinking I replied 'But you don't clean anything !'. Even he laughed.
So, have decided from the wonderful cockles of my heart....................to buy for his silly/just something to unwrap present, 3 bottles of Flash. I know, I know, my generosity knows no bounds ! .......tee-hee
Our road doesn't have much going on re Christmas decorations but round the corner has gone to town. It's an absolute feast for sore sad eyes. Yesterday I purposely waited till dark and then asked my brother if he would help me walk Tiggy. She was delighted as she had already been out twice. As we turned the corner I wished him a Happy Christmas, it was a lovely moment.
Have a great day

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
A happy HT - he was up at 6:30am but that was OK because it was a work day for me
I called in at my friend's house after work. We cleared another three drawers of "things". Only one more small cupboard to do on Wednesday and we've finished downstairs.
My sister who has been in a great deal of pain for the last three years messaged me to say that she gets a new knee in January. I'm pleased for her. I need to do something about mine too but I've been wary about asking for anything that may need an op while the HT was so young. He's 16 now so can be left overnight.
Takeaway dinner for me, the HT, the HT's boyfriend and my looked after person. Easy option for me and the boys all really enjoyed it. It's part of their Chrstmas treat and my looked after person's mum gave me some money towards it (that's the MSE bit).
A lovely hot bath. I get so freezing cold this time of year no matter what I do. a hot bath at 7pm warms me up and I stay warm for the rest of the evening.
Take care all of you15 -
Frith we were in York last year, and that's brought back some lovely memories. Loved the railway museum. We had afternoon tea in a refurbished carriage and it was lovely (my only regret was that I was pregnant and couldn't have fizz)
My pleasures:
1) Last night we had leftover roast and shared a bottle of cheap tesco Beaujoulais (it's a fiver and yummy) followed by leftover vegan choc Guinnes cake with whisky icing (hic).. As soon as we sat down to eat the baby vomited, so we had to pop supper in the oven whilst we bathed and soothed him, and ended up just eating on our laps in front of Grand Designs. All the same, it was delicious and I didn't have to cook!
2) Similarly, supper tonight will be veggie burgers (from freezer), salad, and garlic bread (needs using up). Gloriously lazy.
3) Last night the baby was up nearly all night. That itself wasn't a pleasure, but my husband - who earns over double my salary and is incredibly stressed at work at the moment - doesn't think twice before getting up to rock and comfort our child. At 4am he sent me to the guest room to sleep and went down with baby to watch Hey Duggee, then gently woke me at 8 with a cup of tea. It's moments like this I realise I married the right man. 7 years and I'm definitely not itchy! Tonight I'm going to send him to the guest room to catch up himself.
4) Our downstairs loo was fixed today so is back in action. We're renting here in NI at the moment and they've been fabulous with repairs etc.
5) The house purchase still has me flying high. We are negotiating over things like dining tables and ride on mowers. It's really happening!! Fingers crossed the mortgage application and probate go through quickly.14 -
MandM - yup - he's a keeper!
Today
Off to the market at the crack of dawn ( well, 8am but that is early for us retired folk). Had to scrape ice off the car! Car park about half full. Got pre ordered meat. Gawped at queue in M and S for food hall as we walked past, pleased that we'd ordered in advance elsewhere. Cars circling the car park looking for spaces when we got back. Definitely glad we set off early.
Mostly just chilling now with odd bursts of activity. I'm making mini bobble hats as decorations for bottles. You can tell I've run out of proper jobs!
Happy teatime everyone14 -
Hello. Posting a wee bit earlier than normal as I really need an early night! ( that would be the early starts catching up and yep another one tomorrow!)
Ooft at the alarm going off but a nice walk with doggy . Just us and the birds and a beautiful star filled sky. Oh and lots of cars driving by which they’re usually isn’t at that time,
Work! Just in for 75 minutes. Then out!Home and went into town with DD1. Was doing some shopping for work in M&S ( which was heaving) and getting dirty looks from 2 ladies as I put loaves of bread in my trolley. Met a friend from school I’ve not seen since I came back though who I have been in touch with. Quick chat.Went to bank my tips. All the jam jars are empty and a very reasonable amount now in my account.Had to return some pjs for girls and could I find receipt? No, but got a credit note.In a couple of charity shops. DD1 got books and a vintage (?) sweatshirt. ( me...it’s a bit old looking but apparently that’s what she was after ) I got a bedspread which has been in the washing machine for blooming ages...my new machine doesn’t tell you how long the program is unlike my last one) and a stone pig ( old hot water bottle) and a denim skirt and a top and a crystal vase. Oh and an iPad case.We went to a local cafe for lunch ( nice chat with owners.) Everyone we’ve met today/ been served by have been so very lovely. DD1 paid.Home and straight back out for a very lovely doggy walk with a very lovely doggy. And such a beautiful day though it’s blooming freezing now. Then to vets to pick up dog medication then up to mums to do her medications. Then the last hour has been phone call after phone call. Trying to sort out some medical stuff for mum and being passed ( politely and nicely ) from pillar to post but finally getting her sorted out. Then having to go through it all for her again and that she’ll get a call tomorrow. Sigh!In between all that the boyo phoned to say he’d been hit by another car but that he was thankfully okay. And I’m glad that he called me. And of course that he’s okay. And he’s said a maybe go coming here on Christmas Day ( I was slightly more rational than I was on Saturday night...then I just wanted to cry and did after I came off phone) he’s quite scared of getting CV.And my two squabbling girls who lurch from love and cuddles to snipping at each other have gone out to get ice cream ( as if it’s not cold enough!)And intend to deliver cards tonight ( I’ve been very remiss this year) and ogle at Christmas lights then bed!12
