5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Good morning and Christmas hugs to all of you.
Pleasures for yesterday....
HT excited for Christmas even though he's 16 (and not getting any stupidly expensive presents)
Calling to friend to drop off presents. Received some lovely gifts in return
Remembered to remove Christmas dinner ingredients from the freezer in time for them to defrost. We're having chicken as the HT and his cat aren't keen on turkey
Cleaned the house from top to bottom. The pleasure is I don't have to do any housework for a few days now - it's all done
Leaving the HT's (smallish) sack of presents on the floor at the end of my bed ready for the morning
Take care everyone

Happy Christmas everyone.
For yesterday
1. Dropped presents at my parents. Socially distanced chat with them.
2. Walked to post box and chatted with a few people.
3. Presents wrapped
4. DS1 home - he is in our bubble at the moment.
5. Good evening meal with laughter and drink.13 -
Hoping there has been happiness in everyone's Christmas Days, very different though this year's has been.
Many and various pleasures still had - and perhaps more consciously appreciated because of that?
1. Like many, tuned in for this year's special Festival of 9 Lessons and Carols. That Adam laye y-Bounden fave of &'s was the 3rd carol and was sung loudly in car, post-emporium😁. It felt special, as was the always wonderful Mark Tully's hour-long 'Something Understood'.

2. Suddenly bought 2x¼-price lamb joints there (gave one away) and really enjoyed a most unaccustomed roast dinner for 1, mid-afternoon. 'Twas lush.
3. Instead of our usual crammed to overflowing services of several hundred in attendance, last night 8, this morning 15. Had to be email confirmed in advance. Vicar's screen innovation and imagination is amazing, but can't deny the loss of singing aloud. & mouths words behind her mask. No, not remotely the same, but being in these ancient places still has extra frisson this year. Find self thinking through over a thousand years and the catastrophes and disasters that have brought or compelled unaccustomed people in....for??? Well, it's still happening.
4. Some lovely and totally unexpected things and exchanges. Old uni friend came by after & left santa sack, aka bin liner, at her door. Yesterday felt awkward all day long - arduous hours of wrong-handed, one-handed work rolling almond+royal icing for 4 cakes..... as usual, saying never again. But wasn't expecting thumb complication. Puddings dressed up in red and green glitter tulle with fresh-nipped holly tied in. Rumtopfs sortakinda sorted.
5. Tumbling snowflakes this morning, badly filmed:-) Sunny all day, although truly freezing. Car temp. confirmed that. Loads of birdie species feeding, so good to see.
Right now, listening to beloved Tim Minchin, extended interview on R4 Front Row. &'s a groupie😁.

Bala, can't see one o' they. There's an OAP, well past her allotted biblical span. Just loved the walk-through crimbo tree outside the Guildhall, adjacent to the theatre. Took pics of several groups, to avoid 1 person having to miss out. I always offer:-) and one person insisted on returning favour.
Hope you've had an all ways copable day, Bala.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Nice doggy walk.Nice dinner.
Nice pudding (pavlova)13 -
Well. A complete success. Yippeeeee.............
Languorous, gentle day. For myself.........a little busier !
Brother laughing/giggling almost all day. Messages from family, TV shows etc adding to the meriment of the day for him. The bottle of 'Flash' for OH elicited the response I was hoping for. We all had a little laugh and I think he was pleased with all the other presents we bought for him. He has been engaged in a gentle manner which makes me very happy for him.
My golden moment. When my brother and I went shopping and I ended up buying 3 beautiful glass vases I was hoping that he would pay for the £8.00 one for me. Lots of reasons why. He didn't. I thought that he hadn't understood. No, that was me. He had chosen and bought for me a beautiful etched glass vase. Small, enough for 3 stems but so lovely. It will be treasured forever.
I hope you all had as good a day as is possible under these circumstances.
Warmest of hugs to all that need them

Pleasures for today (Christmas Day!)
1) Took a long time for me to get to sleep but Father Christmas did the stockings at 2am then slept until 8.30
2) I think the most popular stocking fillers were bigger son's wok and smaller son's pens from his local football team.
3) Christmas dinner was good. Chicken and stuffing with roast pots, parsnips, carrots, cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, bread sauce, gravy and Yorkshire puddings. The brandy lit around the Christmas pudding. We wouldn't normally have the television on but sons love Oliver so we were singing along to the songs.
4) Hens OK and they had the vegetable part of Christmas dinner.
5) Spoke to my mum, dad and brother on Zoom a couple of times.
6) Went to my sister's for tea and she had bought me some slippers - just in time as mine are falling apart.
7) Nice sunset. Photo taken through the glass of the door, hence reflections.
8) In bed now with 1 hwb, 1 cup of tea and 1 toblerone and will watch HIGNFY.13 -
I have purple hair houseelf and still love it
& so will Kirsty end up with Roy? another cracking story with the horrible self-deluded Philip. Poor Kirsty.
frith gorgeous sunset photo
1) cathedral - i was unlocking for the 9am - first time i've unlocked, and couldn't remember where the light switch was d'oh bishop arrived and there was light
2) home and a lovely walk with the dogs up Balgay. I wore my boots which meant i could go crunching through the icy puddles
3) mum had arrived with the turkey. we opened presents (everyone very happy) then DD2 and DS played a very complicated game Arkham if that means anything to anyone. mum and I prepared the dinner so we were all happy
4) gbf arrived so more present unwrapping then the serious job of christmas dinner
5) dd2 went for a nap, ds watched a documentary on the Romans, and mum, gbf and I played pictionary that i'd bought from the cs. and of course we managed a bit more food and a bit more drink and a lot more laughter. then mum and gbf went home and dd2 and i played labyrinth (see below, haven't played it years, lost the rules so quick look up on the internet). Funny to think Christmas Day's the first time gbf's been in my house for weeks and now we can only see each other walking (fortunately we both like walking the dogs and there's a small nature reserve between us which he is allowed to visit despite being in another council).
