Hello. Achy achy achy! Decided to walk to work this morning. By the time I defrost and demist car I could be there . Very frosty walk in the dark but crunchy rather than slippy. Met a couple I know half way round so chatted with them and their dogs.
Work was fine. Busy bits. Quieter times. Good company. Laughter and chatter so that was good. Tips were alright considering! In the jars!Beautiful sunrise and stunning sunset.Walk home! Pfft! The hips and back did not like this bit! DD2 had offered to pick me up. Boss had offered to pick me up ( I was dropping stuff off at hers) nah I’ll be fine! And did the latter stretch with 5kg of potatoes on my back! I’ll be fine said I stuffing them in my backpack!Anyway achey now! Not been as bad for a while ( probably because I usually drive) but a hot shower and jammies on and some painkillers will hopefully help.Lovely welcome home from my doggy. We were out walking this morning before the birds started singing but I heard then saw a robin just next to where we were standing ( dog was sniffing) . Said hello robin as I always do! Was a lovely moment. Grass was frozen and pavements were sparkling .
Two pied wagtails wagging their tails as I walked home.12 -
Bop - set KittyHP on referee Brace anytime. Even Matt Dawson and other 2 English commentators on r5x said he favoured albion, wrongly pinged Les Bleus in extra time, ignored knock-ons. Vile, vile Farrell, loathe him. Dirtiest player & has ever seen in r.l.

Well, own fault. Whacked that out so hard I've set thumb thudding. Calm &🏉

1. Addenbrookes Friday, still wonderful care. Stitches holding, despite swelling. Just keep going, Tues and Fri again. Still no use permitted, so hard, but must obey. Trying right-hand wonky writing for next 5-6 weeks.
2. Loving osp of hwb, over and over again. Nothing like it.
3. Zoom Church sortakinda clunked in. Can't be outside in the gloom of -4⁰C freezing fog. All day long since Fri night now.
4. Big 100x20cm tube arrived from oldest NZ schoolfriend:-) & will be good and save until The Day.
5. Offal's not everyone's thing, but big Yes to liver+bacon in thick gravy with red onion and mushrooms just now. 'Lish and scrummy. Plenty of iron, too.

House elf, let me pass on the bossy baton about sensible recovery and kindness to self. Please grab hold of it.
Villagelife seems very well-placed to know about these things.
🤶In fact, I think a general bit of crimbo ease-up time is in order for everyone🎅
....except that &'s copy of Christmas Chronicles arrived too. Quick index - straight to pp130-145, read and marked and re-read, as last 4lbs of fruit+nuts is rum-soaking for cakes 3+4. Twenty eggs this time=more r-h cackhand mess bound to follow :-)#
Back to Armand Gamache and a Christmas murder in Three Pines. If you're a Louise Penny person, you'll know.

PK my thoughts with you all. So worrying, but he is in the best place possible.
There are still days when I fret for Tiggy. Because there are days for various reasons that I cannot get out to walk her. (Few and far between at the moment, thankfully). But then I remember the state I got her in. I remember how after it took more than a year to turn her around a few people remarked that they didn't think I could do it. And I picked her up the day before she was going to be put down because nobody wanted her. I know she is loved, just like Nestle.
Have been up the past 2 hours. She is not well, has been sick twice. Had brief argument with OH because he wanted to give her remnants of a sauce that had been cooked with onions and garlic, toxic to dogs. I have explained until I am blue in the face to no avail. Caught him giving her treats yesterday that I have begged him not to. He hides them. I didn't even know they were in the house. A few months ago I calmly asked why he continued to give her things that I am convinced affect her eyes (no rubbish treats, lovely clear eyes) and that I have asked NOT to be given to her. His response was that he is aware that I have asked many many times but that he doesn't see that he is doing anything wrong. Last night he came to me 3 times to argue his point. I am left feeling the villain.
So, to get back on point, thank goodness for washing machines and disinfectant. Mine working busily.
My brother cleaned skirting boards in the kitchen for me. Once I'm on the floor I need a neanderthal to help me up so was really grateful.
I cut up a whole carcass of chicken for the foxes. Disappeared akin to a magicians trick. Warp speed !
Was feeling slightly bereft as I had finished a trilogy of books but thankfully a second hand book that I had ordered turned up yesterday. Am excited. Since lockdown I have rediscovered my love of reading.
Confession time. I did cook in my crock pot for the first time. It was many 'firsts'. First time using brisket, first time cooking Goulash, first time using carroway seeds ( I loved the smell of those). It was deemed a great success. But...........
I had cooked enough for 2 days, put ceramic pot with lid in the oven to reheat, and MELTED the handle !
(Am really kicking myself, again !)
Now here is something that made me laugh. Happened to leave the house at the same time my lovely elderly neighbour was opening her gate in readiness for the arrival of a roast chicken dinner that a friend was cooking for her. I said that I would be happy to cook for her any time (she loves her food) and she said ' You love cooking don't you'...........
I tee-heed all the way down the road. If only she knew...........
Have a great day

Good morning Lovelies,
Thank you all for your wise words of recovery. If work agree to me finishing at New Year, I won't have to go back, so the pace of life will naturally change, and we can have a 'Slow' Christmas this year.&: What a beautiful view.
Yesterday
1. Taxied DD to dance training.2. Made Nigels Mince pies. Didn't have the right fats, so the pastry crumbled. We had them disguised with custard. Yum!
3. Shopping in MrT. Loads of reduced fruit and veg, ready meals for DD, and Club Card offers on lots of stuff we need.......with £3 off coupon, The bill was surprisingly small.
4. Steak for tea. I tried to persuade DS1 or DH to cook it, but ended up having to do it. 🙄Very nice.........I have put a new griddle pan on my Xmas list, as our cheap Ikea pan has warped. (As recommended by Jimmy the Cook, sorry BoP 🤣).
5. Watched the live action Mulan..... en famille. ( Interval for aforementioned mince pies). .......good, but I prefer the original.
Update on the early retirement tomorrow.🥳
Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)

Hope it goes well for you house elf.
1. More work done in the house - more carpet up and some painting done. Hopefully will be finished by Christmas.
2. Walked to post box to post Christmas cards. Spoke to a couple of people.
3. Stopped and watched the goats playing in their field.
4. Roast beef and trimmings for tea.
5. Peaceful evening watching tv

For yesterday,
Up early but not so bright, thick fog that lasted all day, & sounds as fed up with it as I am.
The cobwebs around the old well did look pretty covered in frost. I had to break the ice on the bird bath for the first time this winter and the bird feeders need refilling every day.
Roast pork for dinner with a tasty pud for afters, lemon & elderflower drizzle pudding from NL’s latest, will definitely make again.
Put in an order for SH books, couple of recommendations from a book blog and one just because.
Small tear watching Strictly results, the affection between the celeb and prof dancer seemed so genuine.12 -
get well soon house-elf
Thanks & very helpful
well at least (for me anyway) vardy came good 90th minute bop
So after the usual church, shopping, lunch...
1) decorated our 2nd tree - yes 2 trees this year, one in the sitting room (decorated for sinterklass) and now one in the porch cos 2020 needs cheering up!
2) and then a 3rd tree as realised my now leaf-bare acer in the front garden makes a perfect place to hang my bird feeders - now have peanuts, fatballs, seed, berries and a half coconut which yesterday I refilled with lard and seed (first time i've done that) - and water on table next to tree (piccie below while half coconut still setting in fridge - further ideas welcome)
3) then supper at mum's - as son is now home for christmas and we're bubbled up with mum we were 4!!! roast pork and all the trimmings yum. dd2 finished the roast spuds, ds finished the pork, i finished the sprouts and mum was happy for an appreciative audience (not difficult with her roasties) and no left-overs
4) and churros for pudding - mr t with chocolate sauce inside, yummy, reminded son of when we used to make doughnuts. i had forgotten. watch this space...
5) children drove home (as dd2 borrowing car this morning and I stayed to watch escape to the chateau then walked the boys homeMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Ooh ampersand, I'd forgotten Louise Penny. Off to check new book out asap.
Bala- it's good that your brother is being helpful. Unlike your OH!!
House elf - Fingers crossed for the early retirement deal. I can definitely recommend it.
Today
I felt I needed a new coat as we are attending a neighbour's funeral next week. I usually wear a black jacket to such occasions but I think we may be standing outside, and that definitely won't be warm enough. I bought a new coat last month but it's bright red!. Anyway, to M+S outlet. Beautiful camel coat, my size, £15!! Unbelievable. It's not black, but camel is more subdued than bright red, and at that price....
Hung up Christmas bunting in the garden , and put out a couple of decoupaged logs. Looks very festive.
Leftovers Monday. Oven bake veg and chickpeas, with cod. Followed by buns and custard.. Leftovers always feel like a free meal.
Happy bargainous Monday everyone12
