Evening all - hope all are well.
Congratulations to youngest DforV - thinking of you for what will be a tough 'first'...
Also watching Virgin River Happycas - it reminds me of the the old Australian programme "A country practice". Even OH is watching it, which is a surprise. That Hope is a piece, in't she?
Pleasures for yesterday
1. AWFUL weather - luckily we got out for a quick walk before it really set in. Excitingly we went to the butchers to order christmas meat
2. Watched some Gavin and Stacey with DS
3. Leftover paella for tea
4. Family film night - United - DS's choice. About Manchester Utd and the Munich Air Disaster
5. Started a new knitting project - only a cushion cover
And today
1. Visited mil - which was a pleasure as it gave her someone else to talk to..
2. lots of walking - probably 11 miles in all.
3. nice lunch
4. curry for tea
5. gin - and wineI wanna be in the room where it happens13 -
congrats dfv youngest
loved the simon's cat & our decorations have very much been adapted with kitten in the house - no baubles on the tree, and any unbreakable decorations being on the mantlepiece (all breakables have been removed from the mantlepiece)
the footie was grim today bop we say no more
1) lovely walk with colleague - we must do it more often.
2) lunch with gbf at the botanics then a walk round the grounds - they have a new fairy door trail, 20 beautiful doors, each with an animal and a plant or two - told gbf we couldn't go back for cake till we'd found them all
3) we did and we did
4) once home walked the boys up to mum's where dd2 had just got back with mum's car (very useful). she'd posted the presents - £130 postage eek, but glad done (2 to netherlands, 1 to mrpiano in USA, 1 to dad, 1 to sister) thinking next time we'll do some online research as think there are cheaper ways
5) then an evening catching up on autumnwatch. just one episode left to watch.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning Folks,
I shall try to read back, but I have missed about 3 weeks, so virtual hugs for all celebrations and commiserations.
DH and I have been ill with 'The Virus'. DD brought it home from work! I seem to have been asleep for weeks.......slowly getting stronger ☹️Recent Pleasures
1. Very slow dog walks in the park........cold, but crisp and bright. (Could not do our normal route yesterday, as it is a Police crime scene 😱).
2. Christmas decorations being put up very slowly. I have managed to make a felt pineapple tree decoration, and a door wreath. DH has to go into the loft, as I could not manage the steps.
3. MiL has fallen twice last week. Now in hospital. The pleasure is that it is the safest place for her. (Hospital would like her to go home 🤣, but DH and DSiL looking at Care Homes.).
4. Looking at finishing work at the end of December.
5. I am about a week behind with the Christmas Chronicles. I may have to skip ahead to Mince pies 🙂.......Enjoying watching Nigella, Kirsty and Valhalla and The Undoing.
Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)13 -
House elf take it easy - unfortunately it can take a long time to recover your energy but don't overdo it. Hugs to you both.
1. Long phone call to a friend. We talked about everything and nothing!!
2. Walked to post office for some stamps. Lovely walk and admired Christmas decorations around the village.
3. Pulled up some carpets and underlay and the wooden strips with tacks in!
We are having stairs refurbished on Monday.
4. DH painted- we decided on more expensive paint and well worth the extra as it only needs one coat rather than two so saved on time and certainly improved DH mood. Painting isn't his favourite job by far.
5. Had takeaway from local restaurant. They are a small independent restaurant who are only doing takeaway during lockdown and tier 3 restrictions to survive. We had mussels - their speciality whilst DS2
had steak.
6. My advent calendar and a Christmas candle and reading Christmas chronicles.13 -
Sorry to hear that you have both been poorly HouseElf and worried over your poor MIL to boot, take care x
For yesterday,Oooh that Saturday morning lie-in, can’t beat it. Followed by boiled egg with marmite soldiers, lazy morning.
We swapped our Yuletide lists, such as they are, nearly nothing but books on either side although I did slip in a sneaky pair of new stirrups to help with my arthritic knee.
There is a large flock of partridges that live in the field next to the cottage, two of which are brave enough to venture into the garden so I scattered some sunflower seeds on the ground and was pleased to see them gobble them up, beloved just raised his eyebrows and muttered something about my ‘flock’ getting bigger 😉
Had a good chat with yard owner, her plans of restarting lessons have been somewhat scuppered by the weather the last few days but she had a couple of classes in the afternoon. Girlie had another duvet day as school busy and ground saturated, her work naturally drops off in winter months and I just tend to keep her ticking over or she may have a complete holiday.
Enjoyed Strictly although worried about my favourite Bill, then tv switched off and a few games of Yahtzee.14 -
Recent pleasures:
Went to collect “home grown” sausages from ex and had a good catch up. Both pleased that our son seems happier these days 😊
Walk with OH at our local park where we coincidentally had a sausage in a roll for brunch
Made a delicious Victoria sponge with homemade (not by me) blackberry jam and buttercream filling - too nice to resist
Said sausages with mash potatoes with leeks and onion gravy for dinner - yummy
Son called in for his bath (he lives in a caravan) and was full of chat 😊
Have a super Sunday all 😘

Another Collection Four You!
DD A mess waiting to happen! Kitty is off her football duties!
Now BoP was over the road last eve as ex comrade was inn town! Had mes stake and chips. Wobbleade was consumed and natters were good. World corrected and wrongs righted. All is sorted! That is watt its lick in BoP Sphere! Oh, chins were wagged! BoPsie had her glad rags on!
So I gets up to watch the cricket. (Words not entered here as I want not to upset the parish!) Rhymes with Bullocks though!
Had me golden flakes of corn inn ice cold whole milk this morning, then a hot toasted crumpet with marmite. Tea was drinked.
Had to rehang the lites on the window this morning, butt soon had that sorted, then a bits of a alteration for Kitty's flap. She wondered offs to her lawn on her own this morning and I tried to make it easier for her! Kitty still will not sue the thing!
Nows as I said last day, I has bin with Scottish Power for a long time now! I check every month the bar guns on the stitched site, as I bee registered there, not on the MSE one! Now as I am a loyal customer, every so often they has a bar gun for me. It was tad more expensive this year, though it was at least £250 cheaper than if I use their website to see! Got it. When I completed, my overall cost was £3 moor expensive than the cheapest, but I has no hassle of switching, final bills and them having too much money inn their greasy palm! And I gets the WHD as well! Others that look cheaper do not! I may gets another bar gun come April again though!
Now I has done the stuffing for the buzzard for lunch! Paxo, well A1D! version, spruced up to bee proper. Pan gravy prepared, no bisto inn BoP Palais! Will be dinner four to days.
Keep Sage and Onion all!Keeping the smile across the Parish

VJ's mum - Virgin River looks beautiful but I definitely wouldn't want Hope for a neighbour! Or most of her sewing circle.
House elf - glad you are recovering, albeit slowly. Baby steps until you feel stronger.
Today
Croissant and proper coffee for a lovely Sunday breakfast.
Took snowman biscuits to DGC for doorstep handover. Booked a zoom French homework session with DGD for later.
Caught up with Strictly. I have to record and play back so I can whizz annoying bits. Not quite as many of those this year. Only really interested in Ranvir and Bill now. Maybe JJ a little bit.I've watched it since series one and never voted!
Wrapped a few more presents. Our spare bed is beginning to look like Santa's sleigh
Happy Sunday everyone
