Ampersand. Please try to rest - which I suspect is like telling you please not to breathe! I bet you're already working out which jobs you can do right-handed!
Paulie - I agree about the temptation to eat nice things in lockdown.. It's as if we've earned the right to a treat. But there are consequences, as our scales told us last time!
Tis the most glorious day. Patio doors open and sun and fresh air flooding in. I'm sitting next to the open door and don't feel a bit cold. In November. In the north.
Made scones yesterday as bubble friend was coming for coffee. Persuaded her to take some home, thinking of our weight gain ( see above)!
Taking advantage of the glorious day to wash the suite covers. But will go for a walk too. It's too nice to be inside.
Off to look for the Frank Gardner autobiography. The recent programme about him was fascinating, though harrowing in parts, so I want to know more.
Happy glorious autumn day everyone ( did I mention it's 🌞🌞🌞)12 -
Ampersand - well done on taking the pills, now please handcuff yourself back to something heavy & focus on breathing, healing etc?OS Pleasures recentlyImmersive YouTube has Himself blowing on the screen to remove sawdust just as the craftsman does...“See yourselves as others may not” it is possible the VP-elect has studied the Obama playbook of hope to good effect.Watched a soap making video - Any fat, water and caustic soda. Eye watering & needs 28 days to ‘cure’. OK quick-&-easy Christmas it isn’t, but fascinating stuff. Ponders fancy silicone moulds, olive oil beeswax & an essential oil... (Hadn’t realised Imperial Leather is largely palm oil & water, so strong ethical case for DIY.)“What will Ivanka do?” I have no idea but I really hope she guides her father off Twitter, through cooperative transfer of power & into a graceful silence on a golf course. (Could I get my dad to do any of this? Nope, but we’re different folk in different positions.)Himself scarfing a Greggs sausage roll - hasn’t had one in months (absence making tastebuds less picky) & So enjoying it! And now, brown sauce on a chocolate digestive.... [Utterly baffled, here]Aw, Johnny Vegas in Dubai with Richard Ayoade - uproarious fun (hadn’t realised RA both vulnerable to air sea & travel sickness - ideal in “the travel man” in a light aircraft admiring the Dubai geography & then being flung gleefully around by JV in a dune buggy.) Mind, hadn’t pegged JV as impressively competent driver. My cheap first aid bag arrived & now the “oh darn” kit is set up. A real proper first aid kit it isn’t - it’s set up for axe throwing injuries, for Severe bleeds. I need to rig a car kit which covers a wider range of surprises - which involves thinking a bit, setting up a little lock & lock box for various pills & then pulling dressings & the Sam splint from the big bag. I don’t stress if they’re in date - none have any bonus chemistry that does degrade. I may also add a herbs-&-spices pack - we visited a godfather who doesn’t cook much & it struck me that salt pepper mixed herbs & oxo don’t take space just forethought. How else to ensure it travels with than to add it to the first aid kit?!The apprentice is currently going through a noodle phase, at least one bucket an evening... Couldn’t tell you if girls are “easier” but Ye gods the young Male metabolism resembles a furnace at times.Did the online thing to get a tax credit for working from home, and another to reinforce youngest no longer in education. Money comes, money goes, but software reassuringly cooperative.Lebkuchen packet, empty, left in very plain sight. Middleson not given to subtlety overmuch - he adores these gingerbread treats! Some days I am Such an Innocent - a tick box for unbranded packaging & no invoice for a present & I croon & himself roars with laughter - no that’s smuggling stuff past the other half. Or mother...Right - health strength love & courage to all as have need and I'm finding really good choirs singing carols on YouTube very pleasant. I do appreciate mileage may vary...13

De lurking to say DfV you should go for the soap making. I got into it during the first lockdown and it's so much nicer than anything you can buy in the shops. It takes a while to get the right formulation for you but is great fun messing around with recipes. I find ones containing goats milk or coconut milk the nicest. I would also recommend making whipped body butter. Its just soft and hard oils/butters in a food mixer with essential oils. It whips up hard and melts as it goes on your skin. Lovely stuff and not full of toxic nasties.
Anyway back on thread I love reading all your pleasures (goes back to lurking..)16 -
Hello. Been mild most of day but feeling it chilly now. Actually saw the gritter go by earlier though it’s not forecast to freeze. So shrugs shoulders at that!Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! The boyo has a proper job and shall be leaving home ( the jobs the hurrah part but it’s right that he leaves too) I may have cried a little but only because I can’t share it with his dad and say yay our boy’s leaving home. I’ve just kind of had him the longest and kind of used to him being about even though he’s often away camping /climbing.Anyway got a pile of boxes from the florist so he can start to pack up. Job starts a week on Monday.Spent a bit of time in back garden. Just picking up leaves and pulling a few weeds. It stayed dry all day and 2 loads outside and mostly dry. There was a decent wind that helped.Sent the son round to tell his granny so I had a days reprieve!Hoovered yet again though ‘tis a pleasure with my new hoover and bin men took old one away this morning. Blooming hairy dog and blooming muddy boots!Lovely chat with DD1. She makes me laugh.Enjoying the scent of a wax melt colleague gave me last week. Geranium. It’s nice.We had pizza for an early tea as night shift beckons for the boyo.Moved furniture and ‘stuff’ from living room as it’s getting decorated in the morning.16

Good Morning ...........
Had a day of texting cousins. Lots of 'I love and miss you'........' We are fine' back and forth. Also surprise phone call from my ever busy but lovely sister. Lots of pleasures there.
I haven't seen one of my cousins for about 6 years. She sent me a photo yesterday and although she is in her fifties she still (to me) looks like the little girl that grew up next door. She was hard fought for. I remember my aunty going through ectopic pregnancy's etc. But what I will never forget is seeing this tiny little baby with a mass of curls in an incubator. I still remember the dressing gown my delighted, happy, ecstatic aunty was wearing. Isn't it great that you can relive joy through a memory.
Big shop yesterday with a voucher (10% off). We are sorted !
De-cluttered, scrubbed and cleaned kitchen. Oven to tackle today.
When I was in the supermarket saw a lady with her chiwahwah (spelt phonetically) tucked into her coat. Stopped and chatted and stroked (the dog, not the lady) because I forgot that you are not supposed to do that (?). Anyway, if dogs that can be tucked into coats/bags/pockets are now allowed in supermarkets then I definitely want one of those !
Splendiferousness wished to all..............

Good morning all,
Well done young Mr Mhags. Good luck with your new job.
& I hope that your hand is a little less sore today.
Pleasures for yesterday....
HT went to school happy
I went home to clean and I did. Whole house, top to bottom. It is now fully recovered from when I had the bad allergic reaction and did nothing but feed the HT and wash his uniform for two weeks.
Did some knitting. I've made four hats so far so I thought I'd make a scarf for a change. It's coming along nicely.
Moved some houseplants to different places. When we had the other cat we couldn't have plants as she terrorised them. she was a total house wrecker. The one that we have left doesn't bother so it's safe to grow things again.
Early bed time as we were both tired but I did message a couple of friends before I went to sleep.
Take care all of you11 -
Sue, Frith, Ampersand............. ( and VL if we don't see you today)
hugs
