D Doll - trust bureaucracy to make a difficult situation even worse!
DfV - Thank you as always. I love your posts, but am glad the Pennines are between us when the knives are out!
Well, the greyest day of all today. Pathetic fallacy at its best!
Made a vegan chocolate cake yesterday and it's very good. Slightly different texture, but still very nice.
Also made Nigel Slater hot apple drink - also very good but will double quantities next time. Greedy people here! And started apricot spiced brandy, which has now gone to the shed to wait for Christmas day. Should be safe from the mouse in a Kilner jar.
We won another £25 with our premium bonds. Our financial advisor ( aka our son) tells us our wins this year have beaten any interest rate offered by a bank. Good to know.
Off to make fajitas for tea. Nice and spicy to cheer up a grey day
Happy teatime everyone

Loving the fox and crow posts bala
socially distanced Zumba fab dfv
1) took a flask of coffee and the boys up balgay - timed it very well as lots of people walking down as I walked up and top was totally deserted
2) back home for the 11am porch silence. Had radio 4 on ipad then mr l with mum. Tipping with rain when we came out so very happy for the lift
3) off to Mennies for lunch (toastie) and the foxes v wolves at 2. Dr no arrived 5 mins later with mr geography and they talked politics and missed the handball that led to the vardy penalty. 2 more friends arrived (so 3 different tables but all in same room) and we managed first half of Liverpool game.
4) walked home in the rain with dr no (he lives further along main road). Dd2 has bought me a pair of grinch slipper socks :-)
5) then ys pork and roasties with dd2, long phone call with gbf (as cant meet up till we’re in the same tier) and now in bed with autumnwatch

Thank you DD..........and thank you for starting this thread.
So sorry to hear you're dealing with something sad.
Now, let me tell you a cat story..........
Today whilst walking Tiggy I noticed a beautiful Tabby watching us as we were walking towards it. It was about 30 feet away and I expected it to skidaddle the closer we got. Tiggy with her very poor eyesight had not noticed it. This cat wasn't going to move so I stopped and started running on the spot hoping that this movement would get it to move. (Running ? I do make myself laugh..........). Not only did it not move........it started to arch it's back. I could see that I wasn't going to win so Tiggy and I were forced, by a cat, to cross the road. Think about it..........a mature human and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier bested by a cat !
Tiggy didn't notice a thing............

Good morning Folks,
DfV: Thank you for the catch up.....entertaining as always. 🙂 Lovely to hear about your special tree 💔
Bala: I think we are crossed off the foxes route now we have given our hens to our friends. (We May have to get a 'chicken cam' and a live feed, as I do miss them). Only the squirrels are brave enough to compete with the greyhounds for food. The bird feeders are not attracting any birds at the moment. Just the odd robin and blue tits visiting the fat balls......although the holly is full of wood pigeons eating the berries 🙄
Yesterday
1. Little bit of gardening.
2. Mr T with coupons and cashback.
3. Started reading The Christmas Chronicles.
4. EBay sales 🥳
5. Dinner was Chicken casserole. Used up an opened tin of cider (why?), chicken from the freezer, the last of the veg from the garden. Yum.
6. DH went to visit DMiL. Hunted down DMiL and DFiL birth certificates, so DD can apply for Irish passport. This may lead to job opportunity. 🥳
Have a lovely day 🙂

Home and hello doggy so lovely to see you.Son made a stir fry with the leftover chicken( DFV carcass had went straight in to food bin after it was stripped the other night son was warned!) was a tad too spicy for me! As in hot hot hot...are you enjoying it ( which he always asks) waaaaah!Chat to friend on phone.
Then bed!Have a good day!13 -
Epic post as always DFV, thank you.
For yesterday,
Up early to finish cake, fruits had been soaking, dry ingredients mixed and tin prepared so not much more to do.
In oven for 5 hours and house smelt wonderful.
Watched the ceremony from the Cenotaph.
A late lunch of slow roasted pork belly ( my oven worked hard today and I did give it a little pat when it was finally switched off ) followed by a long nap.
Woke up as sun going down and lamps going on, cosy.
