Hugs Broomstick - so sorry for your loss but lovely to see you again.
Bala - it's a difficult one and one that we are having with MiL right now. Her children are threatening to take the keys off her if she continues to drive anywhere other than her daughter's house, which is a mile away.
Lainey - re Beech leaves. i know... they are all over my garden right now..
Pleasures for Wednesday
1. A rainy day so no need to go anywhere or do outside stuff.
2. ALthough OH and i went to the tip to dispose of an old mattress, old carpet, and various other bits and bobs hanging around.
3. Dusted and tidied throughout
4. Made a use it up dinner - potato, onion, cabbage and bacon gratin
5. Family film night - my choice, Chaplin. Everyone liked it even though it isn't action packed.
And yesterday
1. good walks to and between stations (not written that for a while) for my journey to Kent.
2. Went to see my sister for the first time this year - a combination of lockdown and me being so busy as well as her shifts means we haven't managed to meet up until now.
3. Nice meal at Spoons (never thought i'd write that...) although the clientele left something to be desired. I had quinoa salad with halloumi, very millennial .
4. It was a DIY dinner as we didn't know when we'd all be home. i cooked a crustless quiche we had in the freezer and made some coleslaw (still using up stuff).
5. Finished watching the latest Strike on BBC.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens13 -
Not doing well here today. First of all I was logged out ( not by me) then I lost a post halfway through. Third attempt!
Bala - so sorry to hear about the worries with OH driving. It seems to be a thing that people hang on to long after they really shouldn't.
Broomstick. What a difficult 12 months and more for you. Time now to be very kind and gentle to yourself
Yesterday, another garden centre trip. Bought a beautiful cyclamen. So much prettiness to cheer us up for under £3. Also bought a Christmas present for baby DGD. Always the fear that everything may shut down before we get there again. I know I will be able to buy everything on line but do like to support local businesses.
DH telephone consultation with the hospital. All is well so he is no longer under their care. A major pleasure.
No gardening today; might get blown away. So no excuse not to do housework!
Happy blowy day everyone

broomstick it’s so lovely to see you post again , I’ve been re-reading posts from 2013-2017 and you and so many others were all such regular posters.I’ve just caught up , as I knew I would , on my lovely husband’s illness and death and all your love and encouragement that really did keep me going so I just wanted to come on and reach out to Sue. Life really is blooming tough at times and I hope you know that we’ve all got you in our thoughts and prayers. There was comfort for me from posting here most days (not every day as I thought I did) and I suppose reading about others ‘normal’ days ...not that Pirate Pete ever posts anything normal 🤪 .
Do take care Sue and love to you and your OH.My day so far has been most pleasant. After a rude awakening in middle of night that sounded like something downstairs. Woken up by a clunk noise. As was doggy. However he didn’t go and investigate but left it to me! No obvious source and eventually got back to sleep.
Lovely doggy walk over the field and back and a heron flew up in front of us.Then I did a litter pick as the community one is this weekend but I’m working so did my bit this morning. It was such a lovely morning. Warm in the sun.Walked down to post box and met friend on way back so chattered to her.Went to one of our local castles and had lunch, we sat outside...because it was warm...then the sun went behind the clouds and it wasn’t so much! Went to car for a fleece jacket.DD2 is online for college....shhhhhh!DS in off a night shift....shhhhh! But he’s up so I can stop creeping around .Need to remake bed and tidy my room and do my bathroom...that’s the plan!Washing machine taken away, sofas were a few days ago but WM was still there when I went out this morning but gone now! Hurrah! Less junkyard looking !Have a lovely day. Biggest love to Sue x14 -
Broomstick, I’m so sorry for your loss.
Village, Happy Anniversary.
S Sue, thinking of you.
1 Grilled bacon sarnie for brekkie was delicious we tried it toasted with brie and chilli jam, but the jam didn’t have enough kick for my liking.
2 I spent all afternoon getting back up to date with housework and animal things, all animal bedding washed, all areas cleaned, and hallway and lounge hoovered and mopped, several loads tightly pegged to line in wind gusty garden.
3 Fish and an rtc potato thing from lidl for dinner.
4 A strange pleasure but it means I don’t have to do it so, I also put the oven onto clean after tea.
5 DH has sold various clutter bits on the bay, all packaged up.

Writing pleasures feels overtaken, reading that the serving police officer who has been shot dead was from &'s province. Family known - some old established cross-over, 2 more recent.

1....at the close of a terrific day - (approximate) birthday lunch of oldest Northern hemisphere Uni friend, done with MrT vouchers, too:-) Unreservedly recommend Bridge Hotel, Waterbeach, menu, service, surroundings.
2....preceded by happy rummage en route at Emmaüs, near Town of Gown.
3 ....and before that again, engineering rigmarole for all day+night straining of h-g apples and grapes, strip-picked, all prepped yesterday. Lightbulb moment was filling 2 of Aldi's brilliant 25p net bags, doubled up, with the boiled mush over bowl in bath, tied to broom handle balanced crossways. Fingers x'd all stays in place.
4. Brilliant early a.m. comedy on r4x this morning c. 1960.
5. Parcel from Germany. No idea what it is. Taken in by near neighbour. Pleasure of anticipation:-)

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens very well.
3) Bigger son bought a new (to him) bike. He does not want to use the existing bike after his accident. He could not bear to clean it up until today. What a revolting job. Luckily we did not find any teeth fragments and it has gone up for sale. He was out on the new bike all evening with his friends, one of whom had not seen him since the accident and was quite shocked.
4) I seem to have transferred to Universal Credit OK.
5) Made a pizza for tea.
6) Enjoyed GBBO: An Extra Slice this evening.14 -
Hello everyone ! Been abit MIA im afraid, busy busy !
Some OS pleasures for me ....
1. Breastfeeding lovely content smiley baby, nearly 3 months now !
2. Proud watching DD and DS start their judo lessons
3. Nice long walk with baby in the carrying scarf, and rescue doggo by my side to start to explore the new village we ve moved to
4. Got more boxes unpacked and some stuff decluttered to the charity shop, shouldve triaged before the move really but just ran out of time !!
5. Son came home with a disney sticker from his teacher as he d finished the week with all his sunshines (they start the week with 5 sunshines and can lose a sunshine for bad behaviour and get it back for good behaviour). Seems like good motivation for 5 year olds, he s well chuffed with his sticker anyway.
6. Slowly getting into a rythme with 3 kids and a bigger house to look after...15 -
Thank you for advice and support re driving conundrum. I have tried to be sensitive to the fact that it is one area that people find difficult to give up control over. But I am no saint. Onwards and upwards and hopefully no more heart in my mouth.
My brother continues to be content here. It can't last forever but he needed the break. Ditto my Mum. Very complicated situation. He is as good as gold and even washed up a huge lot that I had created...........without being asked. Given a choice he wouldn't leave the house but for the most part have convinced him to walk Tiggy with me. He doesn't converse on these walks but I now realise it's the tension he is carrying. He really feels safest at home. I have the same problem so I work hard to make sure we both leave the house at least once a day. On a good day twice. Tiggy loves those days. I swear that she doesn't remember that she has already had a walk.
My beautiful crows, maligned in some circles, continue to amaze. Over the last 6 months have seen them bullied by wood pigeons and squirrels. They are so wise as they just step down. They do not fight amongst themselves and seem to be great sharers. I think there is a clear hierarchy and children come first. Flo's mothering and teaching skills show patience and dare I say it..........love. I am going to miss them over the winter. This will come as no surprise to you that over the last 6 months month the wildlife in my garden has been a great source of my joys and pleasures.
Broomstick, good to meet you. I echo commiserations but so glad promises were kept.
Ampersand I live not far from where the police officer was killed. Am so sorry.
Have a day of whatever you wish and keep safe

Broomstick sorry for your loss
Suffolksue thinking of you.
I have in the past spent time at East Grinstead rugby club. It was a shock to hear the news.
1. Met a friend for coffee. It was great to catch up with her. Had a long chat.
2. Sorted out some kitchen cupboards - I have created space.in them.
3. Took two bags of cobnut to the community fridge so they will be taken by those that want them. Also picked up my bag of food for £5.
4. Next door have started to put up a fence. It looks ok. Was expecting it to be cheap and nasty.
5. DS2 cooked shepherds pie for tea.12
