Sorry for your loss Broomstick but some consolation I’m sure that you managed to keep that promise.
For yesterday,
Wet and windy day so didn’t venture too far, beloved had day off so nice to relax together.
I did some seasonal change around clothes wise, warm coat and heavy water proof popped on pegs by back door, lighter summer jackets washed ready for putting away. Sandals swapped out for boots and even changed out my straw basket for leather handbag.
Made a loaf plus a pan of mushroom soup for lunch.
Finally watched the last two episodes of LOD series 5, can’t wait for new one.
Rain stopped so out with small dog, lots of leaves & branches down but good to be out in the fresh air.13 -
Recent pleasures:
Reading all your pleasures - always enjoyable to me despite life’s ups and downs, somehow just comforting
Picking up a friend while her car is MOTd, she’ll do a the same for me next week, followed by lunch outside at a local cafe
Meeting my sister in law for a pizza lunch, outside under a covered area, mainly kept dry except when rain got really heavy and driven in sideways!
Discussing plans with OH for our long awaited holiday to Cornwall next week. Looks like the weather is not going to be good but we’re renting a cottage overlooking a small fishing beach so hoping we can keep cosy watching from indoors if necessary!
Booked the pub for when we arrive next Friday evening - they do the most delicious fish and chips (for him) and seafood chowder (for me) 😊
As usual; a lot of mentions of eating in my post!
have a great weekend 😊12 -
The New Normal!
Cheque that out, Mates!mhagster said:...not that Pirate Pete ever posts anything normal 🤪 .

More cheese on toast eaten, decent food at spoons! Take the Start ealier, drink faster, drink stronger! And more nonesense from BoP!
Had the reversion nuggets of buzzards last nite. Jimmy the Cook has tried to ban them, but they be good for you inn moderations. Nice with chilli dip as well! Kitty's training continues and shge now detects decent foods, and was wanting to like the chilli dip plate. Of curse, BoP did not let her!
Kitty still has not mastered her flap! So this morn I has removed the door thing, well Raffles did remove it more than once, but BoP has repaired it. No I has removed the door and replaced it with a tempry curtains. And she's maid it through it as well! She is running wrings around BoPsie! Hopefully this will encourage her to use the flap itself soon! As for doors, well she's bloody useless!
PM2DD Kitty's footie training is on hold for the mariners at the moment, but she is readied for the hatters! I is ready for me lunch as well!
That is the end of yous BoP none bits this day!As the BoP, I can actually say that ...

Brr! It's really cold here today. First day of wearing winter coat.
Had a walk out and bought a newspaper. Soon came back home to the warm. Heating keeps coming on now and winter weight duvet is on. Always feels sad to say goodbye to summer.
Finally some of my knitting/ sewing projects are finished. Now what to do next? I'm thinking of bowl cosies. Want to do something that uses what I already have, rather than buying new supplies.
Enjoying Criminal on Netflix. Had seen the first UK series but now working my way through the rest. Criminal Germany is particularly good.
Happy chilly day everyone

Art'noon.
Pleasures for yesterday. I still can't quite get my head round the fact that i don't 'have' to be working. I have work but it isn't a have to - yet
1. More ancestry findings - whoever said it was addictive is spot on! Turns out my stepfather (who brought me up) had a blind auntie - you'd think he'd have mentioned it! A couple of mysteries on both sides of my family that may never be resolved
2. A bit of gardening - i didn't want to but made myself do an hour. If i do that every day there will soon be a noticeable difference.
3. Made another mask - i much prefer my made ones to the disposables so need some more.
4. Made cauli and broccoli cheese for tea - to use stuff up
5. Did gentle yoga. I've had a dicky knee for a couple of weeks but it is now much improved
Have a great day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens13 -
Thank you for all the kind comments. Where have all the lovely little smilies/smileys gone where you used to be able to wave at people?
VJsmum - enjoy the Ancestry and, yes, it is highly addictive. Going back to our family history is high on my list of things to do when I know I'll have time to revisit it.
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. A very focused day alternating spending an hour working on admin then an hour on my postgrad work right through the day and will carry on after supper. Admin is all over the dining room table. Academic stuff is all over the kitchen table. I've been setting a timer and switching rooms. It seems to have worked a treat...
2. ...although I did allow myself a substantial sleep after lunch. Very welcome.
3. Cheese and spinach omelette for lunch.
4. Picked the last of the cherry tomatoes.
5. A very supportive phone call with DS1.
Sweet dreams

Broomstick I just use the emojis on my keyboard and they seem to work ...at least I can see them 🤪🥰😊🤩.Another lovely day here once it warmed up.Quick doggy walk then round to the mothers. Did her meds, did as much kitchen as is doable.Home. Bigger doggy walk.Washings out and back in dry.
Pottered around garden, deadheading and pruning.Put a console table up for sale. ‘I’ll come at 2’ said a lady but messaged 1.30 to say she wasn’t. Grrrrr.
back up for sale. Got a lovely long bench yesterday and luckily just 5 minutes drive away. I a
get ones that involve a drive...even though they say they’re local, they’re often outlying villages. Anyway bench meant no room for console table so it has to go.Fire on ( thanks boyo)Just in from last doggy walk and cold but such a beautiful sky. Filled with stars and about a 3/4 moon. To freeze overnight 🥶14 -
1 Lainey, I was also doing similar, gathered all the summer clothes together with a bit of lavender this time to try and deter the blumin clothes moth. I need to track down some winter bits that a obviously missing at the moment.
2 Trying to clear a freezer shelf for festive things, I know it’s early but a pleasure to meal plan and make space.
3 I made a chicken topped with mash thing, packed with lots of veg and herbs, served with greens, I also cooked up a strudel using the ovens heat with the main meal, then meal planned throu to Weds.
4 Lovely text from SIL who adores the orchid sent, she’s enjoying a 60th weekend with her family.
5 Watching a daft film on Prime.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son mountain biked round the forest for much of the day with his friends.
3) I did about an hour of digging on the allotment and the hens helped by eating lots of worms. It was too hot for heavy work.
4) Made a sausage casserole for tea then pears in a salted caramel sauce.
5) Bigger son and I went to play board games with my brother in law. Had to come home as there was such an enormous spider that smaller son was stranded on the sofa and couldn't move!
6) In bed now and will watch Casualty in a minute.14
