Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A lie in.
2) Hens OK.
3) Bacon sandwiches for lunch.
4) Had a good clean and dust downstairs.
5) Went to Sainsburys with smaller son.
6) Bigger son wanted to watch the PM speech, so we did.
7) Enjoyed GBBO. Rowan is a teacher at my former sixth form college.13 -
Monday started with a bang. A nice one because I found a pound. The day got even better when I managed to organise myself using other people's discarded vouchers. I now have 2 RTC half shoulders of lamb in the freezer. Was really pleased with the savings I made. Some evidence of panic buying. Toilet rolls rationed. Couldn't order any baked beans. Scary times in varying degrees for most I would imagine. Was going to order some UHT milk but I stopped myself. We never use it.
We haven't had delivery of food for well over 6 weeks and booked this order at least a week ago. I prefer to see what I am buying but OH had car accident (he's okay) and so delivery seemed like a good idea.
What was amazing to me is when reporting everything to insurance company I just answered all their questions. For us, the headlight is smashed and the bumper has a small crack. They assumed we were claiming for the damage to our car. We weren't, just reporting the accident. They wrote our car off because it is old and has little value. Quick as a flash the company that removes written-off cars was on the phone to me. They may be right but the parts we have replaced over the last 2 years are in the thousands. That car is not going anywhere !
Having sorted through clothes in little room I now realise I really don't need anymore tops. My inability to get rid of anything has reared it's head and I have kept some things for mending. Have to rethink methinks.................
Had a 'bold' day yesterday when I decided to try slow-cooking again. A whole chicken. Success ! And very easy.
Now on the hoooman watch..........
Very very pleased to see a beautiful magpie on the table enjoying the fayre. And then some squirrels which surprised me until I remembered the handful of peanuts I had just added to the bowl. How do they know ?
My Flo is such a clever clever girl. I have noticed that she appears late afternoon. I always refill bowl for her, sometimes with a special treat. This is the quiet time of the day so she gets all my attention. She is so used to us now that when Tiggy appears (probably because of my sing-songing to Flo) she stays stock still. Tiggy with her bad eyesight doesn't notice her and often just goes back in. Thank you world for giving me such a clever bird to watch and be amazed by.
Well, am looking forward to today. Don't know why and I am not going to question it. Just going to enjoy.
Have a wonderful day................

I HAVE A GOLD STAR and A MEDAL and a Title !15 -
1. My flexible working was approved. Great news. I was amazed it was so straight forward. Only slight negotiation needed.. It will start from January later than I wanted but can't have everything.
2. Spoke with another manager about a colleague, pleased I did as I've voiced my concerns over how she is being treated by others. Response given is she is too sensitive.
3. Picked loads of tomatoes and made a tomato and onion sauce which can be frozen.
4. Went to the pub with DH and DS1- Sat outside and was a warm evening.
5. Watched GBBO - enjoyed it but programme always improved when you have got to know people better.14 -
Well done VL - great news
PK - listening to Johnson was a pleasure????
Mhags - it must be fascinating reading back the 5 OSPs - all those old posters. I still miss Chickenopolis
Bala - glad no-one was hurt
Pleasures for last ??
1. Lovely few days in ICT - lots of seaside walks, making the most of the warm sunshine. The last we will see for a while, i fear
2. A couple of garden BBQs - with added heating (from a chimenea in ICT and we have a brazier thing here). Again, possibly the last for a while.
3. OH got more logs for our log burner - we will begin to use that more from now on, i think
4. Visited MiL yesterday. A pleasure because she really needed a visit as there's been a fall out between her and BiL - he's banned her from his house cos she visited a shop to buy a paper (What the actual F? Right?). I am furious with SiL for allowing her husband to ban her mother and not leave with her! So the pleasure is in supporting MiL rather than the actual visit itself which was quite stressful.
5. Lots of walks - 4 miles along the coast to Aberdovey, 7 miles in Milton Keynes yesterday. Yoga on Sunday.
6. My food poisoning weight loss has not gone back on - it's not the way to do it but i'm pleased to be only a few pounds off target. As a result, i can wear some clothes that for the last few years have been too tight!
7. Work meeting that was helpful regarding the upcoming online delivery.
Have a great day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Great news VL.
For yesterday,
Making the most of what appears to have been the last day of summer, spent the morning with my girlie, apart from one minor spook when a shot rang out nearby ( I jumped too! ) she was very good girl.
Not a pleasure but flat tyre, on inspection due to large nail, luckily have run flats so got home.
Garage in village said bring straight down, always reliable. Unfortunately tyre was not repairable but replacement in stock so done in an hour.
Our resident squirrel having a drink from bird bath and then trying his tum by sliding along the grass, made me giggle.
Like others enjoyed GBBO, especially the beginning when ML was very funny 😉12 -
Sounds as if you're on a roll , Bala
S Sue still thinking of you x
Yesterday
Went to the local outlet shops and sat outside at a cafe in glorious sunshine.
DH found a bargain jacket in M+S outlet, and when he got to the till it was even further reduced. Double bargain!
DH drove home. It's only about 3miles but it's the first time he's driven since the op.
Have gone through the ironing pile and taken out the summer clothes..Don't think we'll be wearing them again for a while, though today so far is not as bad as forecast. Will get winter clothes out later so that will top up the ironing!
Chopped down about half the grape vine yesterday. Have made juice from the grapes. They're very pippy but I can't beat to throw food away so have to do something with them!
Happy autumny day everyone

SS Jenny sends aThe Luck of the BoP?
I started so I will finish. Seems some that have a careless and DGAF attitude will still insist on being pignorant! Sorry, have to say it as BoPsie is only a year since her C op and BoP is still with Jenny! Don't be a pignorant!

1. Well, it means the rain butts are re-filling, while unrequired laundry hangs limp on line outside. It's water.
2. Big excitement: rugby club teatowels. Et oui, they're back and fully monstrous vile. 'Are you still.... ?' was the question when & arrived post-Addenbrookes yesterday. Stinky rockpile was tentatively handed over. Sorted and subjected each load to 2x90⁰C bleach washes. Indoor drape+extend completed about an hour ago. All will be ironed+ready for Saturday - rugby club marathon event/fundraiser.
3. Wonderful Addenbrookes - not cancer.
4. Wonderful Addenbrookes - plastic surgery again necessary on &'s left thumb. & is left-handed. Innnovation offered. Decision made. Slight downside, more upsides. Grateful to be seen, for unplanned x-rays done at same time, for intelligent discourse and surgeon. It will only be a day and I'll leave car at rugby club again.
5. More achieved today than apparent. Also hope Friday replacement birthday lunch with oldest Northern hemisphere Uni friend is still a Go Ahead. Left query msg with venue in case spaffer's latest dribble decrees otherwise.
