Phew! What a scorcher! We're not used to this in Yorkshire!
Had a lovely lunch with friends in a beer garden overlooking the sea. Freshly made pizza, cooked in their proper outdoor pizza oven. Spent a lovely lazy afternoon there, and brought the leftovers back in a box for later. Very mse ways here.
Still very hot so the lazing about will continue.
Happy scorchio day everyone13 -

I am sorry to hear about your friend, DD, so shocking when out of the blue like that.
SuffolkSue - thinking of you.
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) A lie in.
2) Not as poundingly hot today.
3) Hens OK and more courgettes coming.
4) Bigger son and I went to a local(ish) tea room then to Croft Castle NT. It is one of the smaller NT properties so, with the house and church shut, there wasn't too much to see today. We could see the lake, but couldn't work out how to reach it! We did have a good look round the walled garden and thought of Ampersand when we saw the big fig tree!
5) Had rather a lovely tea of Lidl's pulled pork with corn on the cobs and HM coleslaw. A slice of yesterday's boiled fruit cake (with half a tin of pineapple in) afterwards.
6) The County Council disasters continue. After being told smaller son pretty much had a college place (he has to go SOMEWHERE!) and after ELEVEN MONTHS of being told repeatedly that he could not study at home, as they have NEVER offered that, first (on Friday) the special school funding he needs was cancelled and today, I was told he can teach himself 5 GCSE retakes and all the other gubbins (occupational, speech therapy etc) will not be offered and he can "go to the Aspie youth club". This after I had rather warmed to N College and the fact they will drive out and teach him at home, then he can have a flexible timetable with them. I had also shown smaller son pictures and talked about it in great detail...
I wrote a rather annoyed email in reply today, copying in smaller son's solicitor and the MP, again.
Cue a late phone call from County saying putting mainstream on the form "might have been a mistake", they "thought he could manage at home with little input", and to put N College on the form BUT..... "we probably won't be able to fund it". So no further forward. The other bribing bit was they could cobble together some online thing by September, but wouldn't be able to organise a college place by then. Also (I did snigger) that she had been "working very hard on C's case" since our meeting in June! Ahahahahah!
Well, that wasn't a pleasure. Writing 3 stroppy emails and a quick message to the local newspaper was more pleasing.12 -
My little fox visited again and ate my offerings...........and then promptly pooped on the table again !
My life is full of poop. Tiggy's, the birds and now the fox. (Yes, I am tee-heeing ;-)
Have cleaned the table, put fresh water and food out for the birds and am off to walk Tiggy before the heatwave hits.
AND I have washed the kitchen floor. Feeling very productive.
Have a day full of whatever you want or need.

1. Generally a good day. Work was manageable - helps only two weeks til holiday and I have more or less finished my flexible working application. Bed to 're read before sending it off. Manager is on leave so as long as it's done this week I will be happy.
2. My Mum is on Facebook!! It is due to my nephew passing out parade is on Friday and he to Covid my parents can't go but it is being streamed live in Facebook. I never thought she would be.
3. Picked and stewed some plums from the garden and also picked blackberries from the garden.
4. Nice walk at lunchtime with friend.
5. Watching farmer as the tractor and attachment made hay bales. I found it fascinating.14 -
Good morning. It’s lashing with rain after three nice days.Yesterday was another nice day though rain started in evening.
Have a sore foot ( sudden onset of pain different to plantar fasciitis at work on Sunday) so couldn’t do the doggy walks. We went out for lunch to a local ( between us and the niecelys) garden centre. Took the mother. Met the niecelys there. Didn’t have too long to wait for a table but had to sit outside which was fine as it was warm and dry. The mother complained about the noise of the traffic. Which wasn’t particularly excessive but maybe seemed so to her as she’s not been out ( giving her the benefit of the doubt...she is just a negative complaining kind of person) Anyway the rest of us all enjoyed our time , food was nice and lovely to see the kids and be able to interact with them. We took advantage of the 50% off our bill.
countryside was stunning in the glory of a sunny day. Some fields harvested others still to be and full of swaying crops.Popped over to friend late afternoon. Sat in her garden until the ‘is that rain?’ nah...yes! Downpour! Came home with a book to read and 2 beetroot!
Then home and took myself and my sore foot upstairs.Today is a busy-ish start. Have my first back massage in months and boy does it need it! Then I need to empty my sideboard and find places for the stuff inside as it’s going to a new home.My boy has an interview for a job. Not particularly what he wants to do but a job nonetheless after months of being told he’s too over qualified to even be considered for jobs he’s applied for. He just wants to be back in Australia/New Zealand ( don’t we all my boy) but that ain’t happening anytime soon.Have a lovely day whatever you’re up to.14 -
For yesterday,
Another blistering hot day, middle 30’s, made a loaf in the relative cool of early morning.
Went over to see princess pony, she whinny’d and trotted over to the gate when she saw it was me, fed her apples and gave her a good groom / back scratch.
Transferred some of my survey earnings into bank account and treated myself to Down to Earth book by Rhonda Hetzel.
A nap in the afternoon.
Tea was leftovers from Sunday’s meal, just added an ice-cream for afters.13 -
