1. Socially distanced rugby club barbecue still going on. Great turnout from near-borns upwards. Much fun, sharing, a birthday or two, friendship. Zorbs and silly sporty challenges, adults and small persons participating.
Much hilarity:-)))
Dark now, so floodlights on. Wind rising. A fabulous time.
2. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12354808
Do listen to Clarke, about Jacinda. Pure joy:-)
3. The good no-waste banana cake is yum.
4. Large bad caterpillar was also yum, in Mr Blackbird's tummy, but hard work for him. The hairs?
5. Add at least another dozen from earlier today. & quenches her tree with 5 lovely souped-up composty gallons after every day's pick. Seems only right:-) They are extra gorgeous this year. Fig jam? - or is that a waste?

Enjoy this weather if you do (& does and vjm, too) and keep on being safe.

Too hot!
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Bigger son treated himself to a second hand laptop (he's never had a computer of his own before). He does a lot of films and editing. If anyone wants to subscribe to his YouTube channel, drop me a line, as he wants to get enough subscribers to make a go of it. (It is mainly climbing and his bike packing trips).
3) Did a lot of cooking and eating today - a rather nice quiche for lunch (courgettes from the allotment, tomato and anchovy) with a cous cous salad. For tea, Lidl's tasty chicken portions in sweet chilli sauce with roast carrots, courgettes (again) and pepper. And a bit of LO cous cous salad. Then I made a pineapple upside down cake!
4) Did a large load of washing and changed 1 bunkbed and it is not only along the line, but on the fence, the outside table, and draped over a bench!
5) Did the virtual pub quiz.
6) I will probably do the MSE/Open Uni finance course. Bigger son has now signed up to the Open Uni free courses and is about to start his first course. Smaller son is going to sign up on Monday (he says) and do some computing courses!
7) In bed now with the fan between me and the window, and will watch Casualty just now.14 -
1. Back still improving
2. Long chat with friend on ohone.
3. Time in the garden - did a quick prune on a couple of trees. Some new growth of branches wasn't variegated.
4. Enjoying a new book
5. DS1 keeping busy and is happy at the moment13 -
Morning all from bright and sunny ICT
Yes, &, VJM very much likes warm weather - yesterday was 25 degrees, my favourite of all the temperatures.
Pleasures for Friday
1. Up and packed and collected our click and collect shopping in plenty of time.
2. Stopped at Starbucks, Shrewsbury, for DD to have brekkie - in all it was a reasonable drive but noticeably heavier traffic
3. Not sunny here! But OK - a friend and i did a circuit stopping for ice cream (mint choc chunk) on the way and she came back here for a garden coffee
4. Cooked salmon for tea - DD and i love it but the others are not so keen so it was an obvious thing for us to have while we're here alone
5. We then watched Knives Out - great film. I crocheted some blanket
And yesterday
1. Up early and then a beautiful train ride up the valley. Collected some large parts of tree en route
2. Spent the day logging - i did have a go with the axe but mainly was stacking the cut up pieces. Will go back tomorrow and bag some up for home (with permission)
3. Someone had the bbq going so it was bacon butties for early lunch - lovely
4. Back for a boiling hot (too hot if i'm honest) bathy - was too knackered to read or watch anything though. DD cooked tea - more salmon!
5. OH and DS arrived and OH and i went to the members bar..
Have a great day all..

For still being able to meet ds1 and his dgf for a picnic despite extra lockdown
Glorious weather for the picnic
A free EH site which was beautiful and loads of space so everyone could easily distance (Byland Abbey)
Ds1's new (to him) car which mean they could get there. He has saved so hard to buy it and pay for his first year's insurance.
The cat (grateful every day that he is there in lockdown)
Lainey - hope you're feeling better with the antibiotics“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Lainey, hope you feel better really soon.
V.Life...........glad back is on the mend.
Have walked Tiggy and cooked this evenings meal. It will be too hot later. Feel good because all other jobs can be done as fast as the heat allows.
My aunty died 14 years ago. She would have been 78 yesterday. Spent the day with treasured memories. I was incredibly close to her and feel so lucky that I had her love. Everyone in the family misses her. She was so loving.
Fashioned a bird bath out of an under bed storage box. Great to watch birds enjoying it, even Magpies that never seem to partake of the food I put out.
Have quite a few groups of crows that visit now. I can't keep up with identification but I watched my clever Flo yesterday teaching Flossy something. Flo took some food from her stash in the fence post, flew to my neighbours extension roof and placed it in their guttering. Then she stood back and waited for Flossy to take it. Is she teaching her hiding places or to search in unlikely places for food ? As you can tell I am enamoured with Flo. She is a wonderful Mum.
Cleared the table last night of all bird food (as I don't want to encourage rats) and put a fresh bowl of kibble out for the young, very pretty fox. All gone this morning.
I really need to set up some kind of camera system for my late night visitors. Bet it's expensive.
Hope you all have the day that you want..........

For Friday, a total roller coaster of a day
1) DD2 got 2 of her 3 results - AA so just one to go for 3rd year
2) great PhD meeting, just sending form to student when an email came in from interim priest - our very dear lay reader / treasurer / administrator and friend hadn't turned up for another friend's funeral (very old, expected) - interim priest sent police round - they had to drill through lock and found her dead. Still had to do a webinar at 2 but all very surreal. unexpected, so far unexplained, 63. 2nd friend to die unexpectedly this week (other late 50s, found by her husband, this one lived alone)
3) webinar went well (i had bawled my eyes out 12:15 - 1:45
4) then indeed to the phoenix for a drink - 1 of my buddies knows the layreader friend - we raised a glass
5) then mrpiano arrived and we went to mennies - he who didn't have time for a coffee was there so had a chat with him and others. Man City won
For Saturday
1) glorious sunshine, washing done, lawn cut
2) town with dd2, paid in cheque from cancelled flight (gbf had booked it so refund had gone direct to him)
3) lovely alibaba made from rags from Oxfam shop - good for the soul good for my bathroom
4) friend's wedding at the cathedral followed by lighting a candle for lay reader
5) evening picnic with super fire in newly made fire pit in our shared area at the back. Again 2 friends there knew layreader so more raising a glass.
