Any chance of an introduction to your friends ???

I see O2 supplies customers with their own wireless box. Does anyone know if this has to be used, or can I reconfigure my existing wireless-N router for use with O2?0

Yes alternative routers can be used when you have obtained your username/password from O2. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi all,
Is anyone a customer of o2 Broadband, and if so, can they answer any questions I have.....
- Any pluses or negatives of note? speeds/customer service/connection
- Is it slow during peak times (5pm-9pm)?
- Do they traffic shape?
- Do they port block?
Online there is a lot of praise and very few negatives but trying to gauge some more up-to-date opinions. I’m currently with fast.co.uk and have had no problems with them but for a lot less and a whole lot more for the price, it seems stupid to turn down the latest offer?
Fast.co.uk seem to openly state the "No Traffic Shaping" as a selling point which is important to me (games/video/iplayer/etc often in peak times) but o2 seem to be less open?
I've got offered this for a very cheap rate but feel there has to be a catch somewhere?!!
Any comments would be apprieciated.
Cheers,

Suppose to have the best customers service, but cant say anything about that as I have not had to call them ever in 6 months.
- Is it slow during peak times (5pm-9pm)?
My speed has been the same for the whole duration, but many factors can have a pos or neg effect on this.
- Do they traffic shape?
Not sure on this
- Do they port block?
I think they only block port 25 on home BB, which is the same as many other ISP's, but I think there business package has all ports open for use.0 -
I'm just joining o2 today so can't comment on speed/traffic shaping etc. Are you able to get the LLU packages or would you be looking at the Access package? Have read few negative posts about LLU, but loads about Access.
I've phoned customer services a few times already and been impressed - also found the text messages on updates really good.0 -
My Exchange does have the LLU setup for o2/BE so I believe it wouldn't be an "Access" one.
The only concern I had is having to pay c£50 to get back off the LLU stuff, if for example I went back to Fast (if I was unhappy with o2 for any reason).
I suppose the saving over 12 months for my Broadband (about £240, I wouldn't mind having to shell that out again if I did want to leave).
Most I've seen on o2 has been positive but a number of comments are from end of last year. Wondering whether no news is good news?
Keep 'em coming please....:D0 -

You don't have to pay £50 to go elsewhere. (But if you leave within your minimum contract period you have to pay up the contract).
Otherwise, you give notice, they give you a MAC, and off you go.0 -

It depends which package you subscribe to.
o2 ACCESS is the industry standard BTw ADSLmax service (with the standard 0,38 etc settings) so you would just need to ask o2's helpline for the id/password to log-in with.
o2 LLU packages are based on PPPoE settings unique to Be/o2 in the UK and do NOT require any id/password (the physical line circuit is your validation) and MOST modems will have compatible settings though sometimes each vendors terminology can confuse. As you have a modern 'n' box it is highly likely to be compatible BUT a few boxes have firmware/chipsets that don't get on very well with Be/o2 service. Worth searching for your particular model in the Be/o2 forums on ThinkBroadband
