Can I order BB from O2 if I don't have a landline yet? It will be installed on 03.12 ... so I wouldn't like to order after I have it... I would have BB than after Christmas :(

It usually doesn't take any longer than 5 days to have the Broadband activated and for a new line that might be quicker still. I'm not sure its possible to order broadband before the line has been activated.
    Waddle you do eh?

Give them a call on their freephone number and ask them. It doesn't cost anything and they are very helpful and friendly. 0800 230 0202.

    dont think this is possible.

They need your landline to check if its in a coverage area. They have to check it - and there is no point telling them that your neighbour has it either .

in my case, they refused to budge until i have my landline installed and can give them a definite number.

mmm, me too. Bandwidth and Pings go really bad in the evening. Oh, and the DNS problems
  • what are pings?!

actually i had my first problem yesterday with connection on o2, it worked but i kept getting network timeout msgs appear.

    i checked on https://www.bethere.co.uk/networkStatusScreenForForum.do

becuase i believe that is the same network and it said they were investigating dns problems.

anyway it now seams to of been corrected and thats the only time ive experienced network problems on o2 in nearly a year:j

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping My pings are up at 100ms (0.1s) and in the evening rates drop from 6500kbps to 3000kbps or as low as 1000kbps

i had this problem with mcafee too, i think its caused if you had mcafee previously on your pc prior to getting it free with o2.

when you install the o2 version it works for about a week, then complains about not being registered for updates.

mcaffe do a special removal tool mcpr.exe
    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQSearch.aspx?lc=1033&sg=TS&pt=1
click the 3rd link down in the FAQ.

you need to do that then reboot, then reinstall the o2 stuff.

on my 1st attempt i had the same problem the following week but i did it again and that time it worked.

i got o2 broadband 8 days ago, and have had the same problems. i've tried uninstalling it using control panel, and also mcpr, and then reinstalling, but it still doesn't work. does anyone know any other way of resolving this? it's driving me crazy!

Call it a day and use AVG and ZoneAlarm (or even, dare I say it, the Windows Firewall). McAfee is complete bloatware for a home system.

Given you are behind a NAT based router, you are effectivly firewalled anyway. Having a software based firewall basically stops devices on your LOCAL network connecting to your machine. AV is the key piece of functionality you need....
