    Espresso,
Thanks for your help! No, I cannot access the link that you posted. It just sits there and won't load and then times out. I feel better knowing that others are having this same trouble, maybe I should simply wait and it will sort itself out?

Boo-Boo, I had the same 'trouble' when I ended my contract with MAAF. I had just paid for my last month of my second year with them, and I immediately contacted the customer service and gave my 30 day notice to terminate and requested a MAC Code.

The first person told me that I was breaking my contract and had to pay the $40.00 cancellation fee. I said no, I just paid for my last month of the second yearly contract and then challenged her to count how many invoices she was showing as 'paid'. She counted 24 and then agreed that I was able to cancel without paying the fee.

I then called back again to get another customer service person to send me a written email to confirm that no more funds would be taken from my credit card. I got that email and have evidence in writing.

One thing you will want to do is create a ticket with MAAF and as soon as you go live with O2 and they use the MAC code, log into your MAAF account and verify to them that you are now live with O2, the MAC code was used and you want confirmation that they will now cancel your account and verify that no more charges will be taken from your account.

The customer service fella apologized that their computer had sent me the notice that a fee was required and then said that it does that 'automatically'
    which is confusing?

    I hope this helps you?

    Thanks for your reply teddyco!

Yes,I raised a ticket and they apologised that it's a problem with their system and they reassured me I would not be charged.
I have the MAC key now and I'm planning to order O2 broadband and just wonder how many days it will take for O2 to activate my account.
    Thanks again!

    Boo-Boo,

I called O2 and the customer service rep. told me that activation takes between 6 - 8 days.

Since my MAAF broadband cycle ends on the 30th of each month, I placed my online order for O2 on the 22nd of September. O2 then emailed me and sent a text message to my mobile phone every time something was done with my account, and said that I would go live with O2 on the 30th of September, and they kept their promise.

I received about 4 emails from them telling me they had received the order, when my service would go live, when my money would be taken, etc.

You will receive a text/email telling you that your router and start-up package is being posted and within a day receive that too.

After I was live with O2, I immediately logged into my MAAF account and added a comment to the open ticket that my service was now live with O2 and the MAC code had been used to confirm cancellation of the account. Just to be sure.

I have been very impressed with O2!

Members who are using o2 wireless box, did you have to do anything to make the wireless box more secure. I just phoned o2 CS and was told, the wireless is secure and is adequate for regular users and I do not need to do anything else. Just wonder what other members have done when setting their o2 wireless box!! Thanks

Simply change the encryption from WEP to WPA or WPA2 as WEP was superseded years ago due to being ineffective!
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
  • I just got the o2 wireless and its WEP secured which is ok but could be hacked by someone in the know.. although it would take them several hours or days to do. As espresso said its worth changing it to WPA although I havent done mine yet!
  • I'm currently on orange for PAYG phone, how strictly do they enforce that you top up the PAYG o2 phone with £10 every 3 months does anyone know?

    Cheers.

If you don't you will not get the discounted o2 broadband at £7.50. Hope this helps.
