Just after some advice really. I'm looking to get broadband going in a student house for 8, I've checked with BT about the phone line and it just needs a simple re connection (2-3 days and free of charge plus the line rental).
After doing some research O2 looks the best considering some of us have phone contracts with them. With that in mind possibly looking at getting the ultimate for £15 as we are quite close (1km) to the exchange.
My main questions concern the wireless router as all 8 of us will have access through laptops. Can the router just be plugged into the mains and phone line without a computer connected to it? (obviously after the initial configuration).
Hopefully it'll just be a case of re connecting the line with BT, ordering broadband with O2 and then installing, although does anyone know if the activation day can be pushed a few days backwards?
Thanks in advance.
It can indeed0 -
My Madasafish contract runs out on October 5th and I am planning to switch to O2 for home broadband. In order to benefit from the discounted rates for mobile users, will an O2 pay-as-you-go mobile phone be sufficient to meet the requirements?
Thanks0 -

We're going live with o2 home broadband on the 17th. Nice helpful reps with british accents, good comms via text and email and cheap than our previous isp equals happy customer to be.
edit: Which router do they provide? We currently have a very good netgear one. Is it worth changing it to theirs?Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
Got the router today. Gonna keep it as a spare one though.Illegitimi non carborundum.0

You can continue to use your existing router, it will need configuring as per the O2 website.0

I've just gone live with O2 broadband today , less than 96 hours after placing the order.
The whole process from beginning to end has been first class , the speed is much faster than it was with Talk Talk and with their router connected to my iMac there was literally nothing to do as regards configuring it - just switched it on and was online immediately.
BTW the manufacturer is Thomson.0 -
I have just transferred from Be (whom they own) to get onto the £7.50p/m (O2 customer) and got £25 cashback from Quidco
