I have been a customer with O2 broadband for about 3 weeks now, and like many other people have had trouble with the McAfee program not registering.
If anyone is interest someone has posted a good solution on an O2forum on how to solve the problem, and it works I followed it and now have the program fully working on 2 computers, and it updates.
Go to this page

Then follow step by step the instruction in the forth post with the title

I've had a brief look at this thread but there is so much to go through I was hoping somebody could just help me if I ask the question. I am seriously considering getting O2, but need to know about the fair usage policy. I am not a heavy downloader, but I do download from time to time. I am a heavy gamer though. I need to know what the usage limit is, as I don't want to go over it by constantly playing my games.
If anybody can help it is much appreciated.0 -
Gary if it helps at all we use o2 and watch things on iplayer and other catch up services, son plays games a lot, I use the internet for work daily and have never had any comment from o2 about my usage.
We also our Wii online.0 -
well, this morning my AOL connection is gone :j
and my o2 connection is now activated :j
and OMG! what a difference in the speed, i've been using broadband choices speed checker and with aol I was always getting speeds of about 3.3mb (meant to be 8mb) i last did one yesterday, I just did a speed test and it came back at 7.4mb!!!!!!0 -
I thought I would offer some feedback as an O2 user as well, I mentioned I was going to join on this thread (my old user name subvertjase) lost all my details had to rejoin) and all I can say is the last 4 months have been a breeze.
Got my money through Quidco was linked to them for a £25 cash back deal came in 2 months :0).
The o2 service has been trouble free, only one small problem but that is no ones fault the modem broke down I told them and I had a new one in 24 hours A1 :0).
The speed is consistent, no drop outs or reboots needed.
Good price, good customer care, perfect fault free billing what else can I say, they are a breath of fresh air to the ISP industrie.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined

There's no fixed limit but from what I have read elsewhere from users and gamers there should be be no problem as long as you arent downloading constantly at a high speed.0 -

Thanks to all your comments and reviews, i have now switched to O2 BB (£7.50/mo) after being with BT for so many years
I applied online on 04/09, and got my pack on 05/09. I've been receiving text msgs from them on the status of my order. Was told my line will be activated on 12/09.
Fingers crossed, everything will go well...0 -
Hi all,
Just after some advice really. I'm looking to get broadband going in a student house for 8, I've checked with BT about the phone line and it just needs a simple re connection (2-3 days and free of charge plus the line rental).
After doing some research O2 looks the best considering some of us have phone contracts with them. With that in mind possibly looking at getting the ultimate for £15 as we are quite close (1km) to the exchange.
My main questions concern the wireless router as all 8 of us will have access through laptops. Can the router just be plugged into the mains and phone line without a computer connected to it? (obviously after the initial configuration).
Hopefully it'll just be a case of re connecting the line with BT, ordering broadband with O2 and then installing, although does anyone know if the activation day can be pushed a few days backwards?
Thanks in advance.0
