yeah!!! according to samknows my exchange (out in the sticks!) is due to be o2 activated on 31/7/08 - currently with sky.0

i just asked AOL for my mac code and she asked why was you thinking of leaving and i said to move to a 16MB package for cheaper then what im paying AOL for upto 8MB.
She then went on to say your line can only support 6mb blah blah.
Which i know isnt true because before i phoned AOL up i gave O2 a ring to see what my line could take with O2 and he asked for phone number and post code and said my line can take 16MB easy.
So yet another lie by AOL.0 -
I'm currently with BT just out of term for Broadband, they have offered me a 12 month contract for £17.99 option 3 8.0 Mbps because I'm esisting customer.
When you do a line check, max speed i can obtain is 2.0 Mbps.
I have just telephone O2 they can offer me there std pack 8.0 Mbps for £12.50.
O2 say I can get 14.6 Mbps line speed - Wow - So I get the full 8.0 Mbps on there std pack.
Think this is a good deal, where do I check the speed for O2, any one help.
Would like to see it myself.
Any comments welcome..

you need to be connected to O2 to get the definitive speed check. That said if BT are saying you can only get 2Mbps(what do you actually get on a speedchecker currently?) then that says you are either a distance from the exchange or there is something wrong with the wiring between the exchange and your property. Just switching to the O2 equipment in the exchange IMO is not going to suddenly create a 12.6Mbps increase in line speed.
If you have a current router what does the statistics on it say with regards to your attenuation/SNR and the like at the moment?0 -
I have to say that I just joined on the o2 £17.50 package enabled on 21st July. I have 7 to 4 speed on o2 box on login I have never been able to download a quicktime movie of say 1gb in size without hanging about and double checking my mac laptop and that I havn't lost the connection in the download window and restarting it again(frustrating to say the least). o2 no problem whatsoever and the icing on the cake I get an email to say exchange ready for superfast broady tonight.
Should I start on the 8meg or go for 16meg for a tenner.
I would be happy with the twelves a lot of you r getting on the 8 package.0 -
Has anyone tried the Netgear Rangemax Next Wireless N with o2.
I understand there is no adsl modem built in.0 -
I just signed up with 02 but could kick myself as I didn't check this thread and didn't go through Quidco!
Activation date etc set - I don't suppose it's an option to cancel the order and re order through Quidco?0 -
Yes you could! The contract doesn't start until they have sent you the router.0

Thanks - can I do that online ? I can't seem to log in properly to my order details at the moment.0
