O2 Broadband (merged)

We did a bit of research recently and found Tiscali to be the cheapest broadband provider as they pay for the BT line rental and we don't have a landline. However we had such a palava trying to get it - it felt like we had to beg for them to give us their product!! It took 2 months and they kept losing our order, saying it didn't exist, sending tecnicians to the wrong address. In the end we gave up and tried O2 broadband - £12.50 a month and even less (£7.50) I think if one of us has an 02 mobile. They were friendly, helpful and we were online in 3 days, with texts and emails to keep us updated that whole 3 days. Excellent service and in 3 months we've had no problems whatsoever.

My only problem is when I click on the O2 website and try to access 'Broadband Help' or 'Contact O2', the connection times out and doesn't recognize the webpage. All other webpages load fine.
What happens if you use this link here? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Registered yesterday.
Got my wireless router and CD today
Will be live on the 08th
Super slick service! :T0 -

Does anyone know if I need to make any changes in the router settings to solve this problem?
Thanks
I connected up yesterday and have found the same problem as above, I contacted Technical Help and they are going to looking into it. I also found that I can't watch the BBC weather forecast on http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ using Windows Media Player, I had to change to Real Player.
Alll the above work when I connect my PC using my mobile broadband (Not O2).
Very pleased with the speed of connection BUT a little concerned that things I could access via my previous ISP are not available via O2 - could become a problem!0 -
Continuing on from my last post, I now note that I can’t access another site since joining O2 on Tuesday namely: http://www.virginmobile.com/mobile/
I spoke at length with one of O2’s technical people and he gave me one plausible reason why this is happening, in simple terms being a very new customer I’ve been allocated an IP address from a new IP Pool which may not yet be recognised by some websites, particularly those that have a UK content or service a UK customer base???
This together with the lack of access to O2’s own ‘Broadband Help’ pages http://www.o2.co.uk/help/broadband is starting to give me cause for concern.
Can any other recently connected O2 customer access the above sites?0 -
I'm currently with madasafish and planning to switch to O2.Can I connect a computer and a laptop as well using the £7.50 service?
My contract with madasafish expired on 2/10/08.I contacted them to inform that I'm moving to another provider and therefore requesting MAC key.I've just received the message below. There are some outstanding fees on your account:
- Deferred Activation: 40.96
- Deferred Hardware: 60.00
The fees can be:
- Deferred contract (house move, hardware or activation) charges.
- Any outstanding account balances.
- Any migration fees.
Total outstanding fees: 100.96
Has anyone received anything like this? Any idea?

You can connect a computer and any number of laptops (wirelessly).
Anyone unhappy with MAAF (for any reason) can now get out of their contract free of any early termination charges as a result of them recently changing their ts + cs by introducing a higher cessation charge.
Their ts + cs allow us to leave without any penalty if they introduce a detrimental charge.
To use this get out you must give them notice within 30 days of being informed of the increase.
The relevant condition is 10.8:
Quote:
10.6 You may terminate this Agreement within the first 12 months after the Commencement Date if you agree to pay us all the costs that we have incurred in setting up your Broadband Service. This will include an installation fee of £40.96. You must also pay the cessation charge detailed in 10.7, and the full retail price for any free or subsidised hardware that you ordered from us.
10.7 If you terminate this Agreement at any time, and choose not to transfer your Broadband Service using a MAC code, you will be required to pay a cessation (cancellation) fee of £20.00 to remove the Broadband Service from your telephone line. This charge is applied to us by BT.
10.8 If we have made a change which is to your material detriment, you will not have to pay the charges set out in paragraph 10.6 above if you decide to end your Agreement early. However, once we have told you about such a change, you must let us know that you want to end the Agreement within thirty days.0 -

My contract expired yesterday and I wrote to inform that I'm giving them a notice and would like to have the MAC key.
They replied immediately giving me the key and including the amount of £100.96.
Is there a way out of this situation?I'm not paying them £100.000 -
To short cut any dispute, tell them you want to use condtion 10.8.0
