    Hi,

I thinking of moving to 02 (LLU in my area) and have a couple of questions. Madasafish mentioned that they could, in the future, take my line off BT and it could cost upto £130 to reconnect - is this true or just sales rubbish?

Secondly, say in 18 months or so, I decide to move off 02, what happens if I want to go back to BT or Madasafish or some other 'normal' supplier, do I just need to pay some re-connection charge - if so any idea how much this could be?

Thanks! - and apologies if this has been covered before.

    David

Firstly, Madasafish cannot take over your BT line without your consent, they are trying to use scare tactics.

Secondly, there would be a charge involved if you later decided to leave O2, O2 uses "Shared LLU" & if you wanted to return to an IPStream broadband provider you would have to pay BT to cease LLU on your line, £40+vat.

The o2 wireless box is indeed an OEMd version of that, but the latest o2 wireless box II (ie Mark II) is a different Thomson box.

See my Be & o2 comparison for further details about o2 and the new II box

My text informing me that my O2 broadband is active has just come through.... over 24 hours after losing my Pipex connection and a lot later than it actually went active.

I just rang customer service about using relays on Outlook (to make it look like my outgoing emails are from a non-O2 email address) and they were really excellent on the phone and it was resolved in no time (use relay.o2broadband.co.uk as the smtp address instead of smtp.o2.co.uk).

I mentioned that activation text had only just come through and he said they were having issues with the SMSs and that they encouraged people to ring in for the status of their activation.

I can't fault the telephone customer support at all. Quite refreshing.

  • Well my O2 went live today and it is thrashing the pants off of Virgin Cable which I still have active until May 2nd. Good bye Virgin.

I am lucky enough to live 1 mile from exchange and I clocked 8.2MB on speedtest.net and I am on basic package.

    Cheers O2
