They say to wait till they text you to say the switch is completed before attempting to connect (using the welcome cd).
But it doesn't seem to do any harm to try the cd - if the switch hasn't been completed, then the installation of their broadband will halt, and you can try again later. But if it has actually been done, the text might be delayed coming through!0 -

The bloke told me to plug in the router and see which lights came on. Apparently the broadband and/or internet light (can't remember which) needs to come on to indicate that the connection is live. Neither is coming on for me. He advised to switch off the router and try again in an hour as leaving the router on could delay the setup if the engineers are currently working on it.0 -
Hope you get it sorted soon Searcher2

Hi,
I thinking of moving to 02 (LLU in my area) and have a couple of questions. Madasafish mentioned that they could, in the future, take my line off BT and it could cost upto £130 to reconnect - is this true or just sales rubbish?
Secondly, say in 18 months or so, I decide to move off 02, what happens if I want to go back to BT or Madasafish or some other 'normal' supplier, do I just need to pay some re-connection charge - if so any idea how much this could be?
Thanks! - and apologies if this has been covered before.

Don't know where they get the suggestion your going to lose your phone line from! It does sound like scare tactics.
If you don't have a bt line then you can't get o2 broadband!
Most isps give you a free connection when you join them (including maaf).
If you leave maaf before completing a minimum 12 months then they make you pay them for the "free" connection. Currently its £40.96.0 -
Bit embarassing really! I don't know when I was actually live because I had that many cables round the back of my PC I got one wrong when I double checked. All working now (well internet at lest)... but still no text from O2.
Just done a random test on Limewire... with Pipex I thought a 15 KB/s second download speed was fast... one my first test the download is going at just short of 400 KB/s!!!0 -

Brilliant :j The back of my pc is like spaghetti junction, I'll be leaving the connecting to dd's boyfriend to sort out0 -
I have booked my BT line to be connected soon - do I have to wait until then to order O2 BB? It gives me time to order a PAYG O2 phone so I get the cheaper deal. My max is 6Mb so should I go for the basic package?
My son does lots of gaming so I didn't know if the mid-range one would be better.0 -
You can order the o2 now if you want, but it won't progress till your landline is active.
You can change packages at any time, and your current speed won't have any bearing on what you will get with o2.
If you order a faster package and don't end up getting the speed, then they downgrade your package (and refund the difference!)0
