Having read this thread this morning, I've cancelled my BeValued collection tomorrow and I'm going to take it to a PC repair service who will either repair it (HBOS will pay) or write a letter on head paper stating it's beyond economical repair in which case Halifax will send me a cheque for like for like replacement, less my excess. All the stories about getting rubbish items in return and the fact they can't guarantee the integrity of your data was too much
  • I'm trying to log on to BeValued and register but its not letting me. Has anyone else registered?
  • Hi,

Just wanted to share my experience with Bevalued.

I had to place a claim with L&G last week for a laptop that had been damaged by coffee. The laptop was picked up on Monday 12th April. I logged onto the Bevalued website on Wednesday 14th April and saw that they required proof of purchase (don't have as it was a gift). I gave Bevalued a call and explained the situation (The agent was very helpful, polite and friendly) and they explained if I gave L&G a call and explained the situation, L&G could then give Bevalued authorisation to send a replacement. I gave L&G a call, who tried to put me through to Bevalued, but due to L&G's agents error they didn't transfer the call. Bevalued called me back straight away on my mobile, even though their office was now closed (just gone 6pm), and confirmed the replacement (DV7-3101sa for a damaged DV9646em, definitely new for old!) they would be sending the next working day.:j

I don't know if their business practice has changed, or if all the problems people had in the past were due to rubbish internal structure/lack of resources, but I must say it was an absolute pleasure dealing with Bevalued and I have no qualms dealing with them in the future.:A

Hope this goes someway to allaying people’s fears if they read this thread and start panicking!

    Cheers
    Kel

I could cry after reading all this and wish I had read it before sending my sony vaio off to be repaired by them.

My husband stood on my laptop and cracked the screen, we got onto our insurance company who instantly had it picked up and off for repair, that was in feb! The laptop came back 3 weeks later. I was all :T:rotfl:and then I took it out of their packaging, lifted the lid and , they had snapped the clips holding the screen in place, so my husband phoned bvalue back up and someone came and picked it up the next day for re-repair!

We have been phoning and getting no answer, so emailing constantly to find out what was taking so long, at one point they even used volcanic ash as the reason the part to fix it hadn't turned it.

Yesterday my laptop finally turned up and when I looked at it I could have cried, it has gouge marks all along the sides of the monitor casing and the part they were waiting for must have been super glue because that is what they used to fix the snapped casing clips!! Some bright spark techie in there also managed to superglue his finger to the lid and it has melted a partial finger print into the laptop lid!

I am currently waiting for a call back from my insurance company to find out what happens next, all I wanted was my lovely laptop fixed and now it is trashed and looks like a piece of junk, I haven't had the courage to try and turn it on and see if it works!
  • Heres a new one for Powerplay I had my Toshiba laptop replaced through direct line insurance which took 2 months, however 2 years down the line I have discovered my laptop has no serial number. This only came to light when I contacted Toshiba technical to get some advice on problems with my machine, They told me that either the machine was not a Toshiba or it had no manufacture details. This could pose a problem if i need to have it repaired, needless to say I have to contact this company for explanation dont know if anything can be done.I gave them a Toshiba which they couldnt repair I didnt expect this

Well I am now in the unforutnate position of having to deal with bevalued with a claim for a laptop that was knocked off the kitchen worktop.

My laptop was an MSI gaming laptop with high end spec bought no more than 18 months ago.at a cost of £1100 Bevalued siad it was beyond repair and offered a Samsung as a replacment value £600

Now some fo the sepc was comparible for most parts but the screen reseloution, sound card/speakers and webcam were below that of what I sent them do I have a case with my insurer as I have like for like on my policy? as bevalued said if I want a cash settlement I would only get the value of the samsung minus excess this can't be right can it?
  • as an ex employee of this company as there first ever pc specialist, I would give some advise regards computer replacement.
don’t send them your old system.
for your security, they will reuse any parts that work, like the hard drive. and sell it on e bay
If its a nice system the engineering team will BER it (Beyond Economic Repair) so they can have it for them selves.
take you pc laptop to a pc shop ask for a report, your insurance company will pay for it, send the report to them, or powerplay. they will offer a replacement laptop or a cash settlement, the settlement will be at the cost to the insurance company not retail price less any excess to be paid. faster better than sending it to them, and you old data is safe.

when I started working for them customer service was king, then it changed to service level, and it went downhill from there

I was sacked for being signed off by a doctor, I won a employment tribunal I got more than £15,000.
    they know who i am

If this report is correct http://www.bitterwallet.com/tag/powerplay-direct then powerplay could be possibly be having financial problems (Of course it could all be a coincidence.

If you have been passed onto Powerplay by your Insurers to replace items and Powerplay do go to the wall, then contact your Insurer. If they have passed you to Powerplay to arrange replacements and you have not received the items etc then in most cases your Insurer is still liable to handle your claim and arrange replacements etc.
  • they have been reducing the retail side for some time, as the leases end on the shops they dont renew them, they closed the shop in eastbourne a few years ago, the insurance part is sadly still doing well.

They have just released a statement that they are closing their shops apart from the Leicester Shop and have also closed their website. It looks like the Insurance replacement side will remain operating as normal as John259 has mentioned
