What small DFW things will you do this week? w/c 29/05

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning
Happy BH Monday :j Looks like it's going to be a nice day here, with a light shower mid morning. I sleep like the dead so missed the massive storm last night!
Busy but nice day today:
* I've been up a couple of hours so have mostly unpacked from our weekend camping at a small festival. Waiting for madam to stir to finish off
* couple of loads of washing hopefully
* got 15p milk and ys chicken breast joint out of freezer for oh & madam for dinner. Was £5 reduced to £1.25 :T
* dd coming round today for lunch and to play
* toted up wombles over the last couple of weeks - over £100 :T
* out leafleting this evening
* do some work on presentation for interview on Wednesday. I was super brave and emailed the recruiting manager to say I am interested in the role but can't work full time at the moment so unless they are prepared to consider reducing the hours to 30 and increase the part time role (mine) to 25 hours then I'd like to pull my application as I don't want waste their time (sub text or mine!) I didn't do it until late Friday so have to wait until tomorrow for an answer....
* usual watering/feeding the plants. Be so nice to do some sowing as well....

Morning determined and all who follow :hello: hope you enjoyed your time at the festival. Well done for being assertive on the interview. Hope they respond positively.
Raining overnight hard here, with more forecast for the day. Garden really needed it, despite my watering things over the past few days but it's a shame it's not as nice as the last few days. If I can find a gap in the weather I'll take the smalls to the local trail or NT place for free. I'll also:
Check surveys and FPL
Make jam with last of frozen strawberries- was so easy yesterday and tasted yummy :A will do the same if I find any ys fruit or fruit on the edge from the market. So much nicer than shop bought (like most things)
Meals from stores
HM waffles and pancakes for breakfast
Yoga on YT for free later as can't run as DH away
Prep and freeze rhubarb I picked from garden yesterday
Find recipe for pears I bought
Look at budget and see if we can afford a holiday later in the year
Enjoy your Monday folks.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the start DNMS, I feel your pain, as I have all the unpacking / washing to do as well, and the weather doesn't look great hereGood luck with your application
Perps, I agree, home made jam and bought jam are like totally different products. Likewise marmalades and chutneys!
So, today's plans:
Strawberries that I picked from the hanging baskets (yesterday evening when we got back from weekend away) with breakfast cerealDone, picked some more for tomorrow
Unpacking and washingUnpacking done, one load of washing done, but it has been pouring with rain for most of the day
Will hopefully be better tomorrow so I can peg it outside, otherwise the airer it is
Dog walks, though he seems pretty tired after his busy weekend (he came as well) OH did these, but he didn't want to go far. He has only just started playing a bit, so he must have been totally worn out :rotfl:
Cook the sausages we brought back with us - check the fish - it was defrosted but cold. If it looks and smells ok I will cook it, if not, bin it! Fish looked and smelled ok, so cooked it and we ate it. I will cook the sausages tomorrow.
Need to do a shop - will make a list, won't be much! Done, had to buy a new shower hose as ours had developed a large split / leak
Got OH to look at resealing shower cubicle base in ensuite, he already had some stuff to do it
Find Nigella chilli jam recipe, want to use up most of my frozen chillis before they start to appear againNot done yet
Any surveys that are available Just one more survey needed and I can claim £50 from Yougov :j:T
Pack an ebay item for posting tomorrow when the post office reopens Still to do
Investigate tax and insurance for camper van  Done, OH collected it this afternoon. Savings very severely depleted, so small things have suddenly become even more important!
Must rethink vehicles - we now have 3  Other two are both in very good condition, but not worth much because they are quite old now (we have had them for years). Also need to think about selling large tent which has only been used a handful of times... lots to ponder!
Anything that needs doing in the gardenNot much, picked some more strawberries and watered some seedlings in mini greenhouse, in between showers

Morning everyone, thanks for the start DNMS
Will be a quiet day from DD and I today, typical that the weather on my day off isn't to be as nice as when I was working during the week - we will make the best of it though.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all from stocks in the cupboard/freezer
Hang washing out just now to avoid the showers we're expecting later on in the afternoon
Tidy/clean the house
Entertain little one - may take for a nice long walk this morning somewhere, undecided as of yet
Catch up with you all later on0 -
Morning all :coffee:
I had a good night's sleep last night :j probably because it was a bit cooler and I don't have to go to work this weekI haven't even brought any school stuff home with me.
It's chucking it down with rain today so doubt we'll get much done outdoors but there are some things that I definitely have to do.
Grocery shopping - need to make a list and try and stick to it
Packing - me and the kids are away for a couple of days tomorrow and Wednesday
Minimal housework - must still investigate getting a cleaner
Exam marking - starts proper today so I need to put a couple of hours aside for that.
Crochet a bit - but not so much it takes over my life as it has been doing.
That will be plenty to make today fly over, and we'll need an early night as we're heading off early in the morning. Have a good day everyone :coffee:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning. Lots of rain here overnight so garden looks grand today- really bright and lush. OH not here today but am taking his mum out for a drive and a wander round garden centre with minimal spend prepared.
So chuffed with myself as just done Day 3 on DoYogaWithMe website. I am determined to do the whole 30 day challenge as a beginner then do the 30 days as an intermediate. Love yoga but find classes vary too much and often at hopeless times for me. This website (thank you to Mrs Frugalwoods blog for posting it) could be my saviour. Eating out of freezer as on my own for dinner. Good start to the day.0 -

Afternoon! Thanks for starting us DNMS this BH Monday! We had another thunder storm over night but the air is still muggy, I thought it might of cleared it a bit! I've got a quite few hours at home as DH has taken DS out the day so I can chill out. I've done a quick, yet complete, tidy of the house and I've got the washing on the dryer! Now I'm on the sofa, remote control and laptop and I'm not moving! This is an extremely rare treat!
So today I'll be:
- Tidy & clean house, lots of washing to do - Cleaning done and washing in progress
- Catch up on some TV
- Swagbucks and Nectar Canvass
- Order DH birthday present, some shoes - Managed to find them on Bargain Crazy for £4.99 then I used a 15% off code! Woohoo!
- Foot shopping coming between 1-2
- CHILL OUT!
Have a lovely bank holiday everyone! xDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250
