Having had it connected today ...

I asked my friend about trying a piece of carpet first but apart from not having any to hand, he thought it best to stick with the rollers as he didn't think carpet would work any better than the plywood we'd already tried and any drips from the machine onto the carpet could end up making it a bit nasty over time.
Tip: Don't leave the carpet in place, just use it to facilitate sliding it over a floor that could be damaged, then remove it after sliding w/m into final position. Glad you are sorted.

Always wondered why in every review section of over, say, 50 people there is always one or two who give a 1* review even if the others are all 5*.

    Now I know why.

Phew I am glad that it is all over at last, never have I seen such a tragic case since WW2. I hope that you can call the samaritans soon who can help you get over your trauma

We should be grateful that a simple misunderstanding of service expectations has exposed the attitude of the OP towards pesky "eastern Europeans". I'd hope that AO are able to identify this customer and refuse to expose their staff to his prejudices in future.

So the OP was happy to spend £18 on a set of transit rollers, when for another £7 he could have had it installed by AO in the first place. Doh!
As for whinging about hose and waste pipe lengths, of course they are long enough to connect when the machine is not yet pushed into place, as long as the supplies are in the right location. How else do you think they are installed normally?

I've already had a friend put some plywood under the machine but he still couldn't shift it (he's not particularly strong but a lot more so than I), so I think I'm going to need the rollers but I'll probably get these ones from Screwfix as they're a bit sturdier than the Argos ones http://www.screwfix.com/p/appliance-steel-roller-set/39158

All you need is an off cut of vinyl flooring or lino pattern side down slipped under the machine and it will glide beautifully.

If you'd bothered to read the thread you'd have seen that it was others who'd claimed the hoses would be too short to connect the machine without pushing it in.

Without the rollers I still wouldn't be able to pull the machine out if it needed servicing (and the engineer would probably refuse to do so in case it damaged the floor) and AO's website doesn't say the "Connection fee" includes pushing the machine into place anyway.

    Doh yourself!

Hilarious that you think I'd actually want to give AO any more of my money after finding out how badly trained their staff are. :rotfl:

Enjoy wasting your life trying to censor facts that you find inconvenient and attacking those who mention them. You probably think I'm sexist for even mentioning that they were delivery men
