AO dumped washing machine in middle of kitchen

Yeah, I'll get the person who's connecting it for me to shift it but we'll probably need to get those rollers first, as it really needs two strong men to move it.I've already had a friend put some plywood under the machine but he still couldn't shift it (he's not particularly strong but a lot more so than I), so I think I'm going to need the rollers but I'll probably get these ones from Screwfix as they're a bit sturdier than the Argos ones http://www.screwfix.com/p/appliance-steel-roller-set/39158
I'm a not exactly muscular 5'3" woman, I can manage to move my washing machine in and out of a space. You're making a mountain out of a molehill with all this talk of rollers and two men to move it, and how on earth do you think you'll be able to bet the rollers under the machine if it's that immovable?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

...and if the OP fits these rollers, will it still fit under the counter? ...and not roll back out with the spin-cycle vibration?

Says the disabilist.
Your own prejudice is evident and chucking accusations around only serves to highlight it rather than deflect attention from it. Any sympathy you may have had from being left in the situation with your new appliance has long gone. Ask around and see if friends or neighbours can help, as long as they meet your exacting standards of origin, of course.0 -
We had a cooker, washing machine and dishwasher delivered by AO into our living room, as the kitchen needed a little work before they could be installed. Our handyman then moved each item on his own and installed them - and he wasn't a beefcake, else I'd have stayed to "help"!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Would you have pointed out the driver's colour if he was black?
Or Arabic? Or commented on his race if he was French? Or Irish? Scottish? Cockney?
Just wondering where your level of acceptability falls as it's obviously still OK for a bit of latent racism to the Poles. How about the Bulgarians?
(I would also have asked this if you weren't in a wheelchair but feel free to bandy around some "ists")0 -
I just had a Beko washing machine delivered by AO and when I asked the delivery man to push it into position under the counter he refused as he said it would scratch the floor and that I'd have to move it myself
I would likely have done exactly the same.
To others, AO will not install, they will simply connect to existing services, if contracted to do so.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I don't understand why people keep insisting they would have pushed it into place if I'd paid the connection fee. It doesn't make any sense to think that they'd have been any more prepared to risk damaging my floor if I'd paid them the £24.99 fee, as they'd probably be worried about being sued for more than that. Hence why I said they should have a disclaimer that customers can sign if they're willing to take that risk.
If you had paid the £24.99 fee to have it connected the delivery person would have been allocated the time to connect it and site as you wanted, you didn't so they are only allocated the time to put it into the nominated room.0 -
......... put some plywood under the machine but he still couldn't shift it.0

Nope they would have come prepared to be installing a washing machine.
So would have the tools and people with the skills to do it.0 -
You can throw around insults but it doesn't make it true, any more than if I accuse you of being disabilist. If I received poor service from an 18 year old man I'd mention his age, as otherwise companies can't identify whether there's an issue with a particular category of staff that they need to address. It may be that others who've received good service have had non-eastern european drivers, or maybe they've had friendly eastern european drivers, in which case that's also important to know as it indicates the problem is not cultural or widespread but limited to certain staff.
I'd feel pretty special if I could read people's minds and tell what they were thinking.
Were you not given a review card with your delivery?
Are you now clumping all 18 year olds together?
You really do make it easy.
I garner from this thread all disabled people are moaners.0
