If I'd been aware more than 5 seconds before they left that they wouldn't push it under the counter then I obviously wouldn't have asked them to put it in the kitchen where it would block the door and would have asked them to just leave it out of the way in the adjacent living room. I wasn't worried about it blocking anything until it was too late as I didn't know they would refuse to push it in. Is it too much to expect them to explain that they wouldn't push it under the counter so that it would be left blocking the door before they put it in the kitchen, so that I had the opportunity to ask them to leave it in the living room instead? As you've been informed multiple times, the fee would have covered installation. They would have had time and equipment allocated to the job. There would have been forms to fill in too.
They don't say this, so why is it sensible to assume that their Connection fee covers that but stupid to assume that when they deliver and unpack it they wouldn't leave it sticking out and blocking the kitchen door? only says
"Connection £ 24.99
We want you to get up and running straight away with your new appliance, which is why our expert team will connect your new item to your water pipes and make sure everything is working properly. Connecting it yourself? Make sure you remove the transit bolts. These will make a loud rattling sound if they’re left in place when you run a cycle."
So all they promise is to connect it and make sure it's working, nothing about pushing it into position even if they think there's a risk they might damage the floor.0 -
What would you have done if he pushed it into place and damaged the floor ? you might not be bothered but I would be . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Look OP, I'm 5'3'' and female and can 'walk' a washing machine in and out of a space if I have to so you need more practical friends I suspect!
If you're absolutely convinced you've had the wrong service from AO tell them - although there is no delivery charge to refund because you took the free option?
Try and get a bit of perspective - a free service from a bargain operation isn't going to be the same as the premium price local 'look after the regulars' type of business of which there aren't many left. Its still not wrong just not what you'd like in an ideal world.
The main issue is that you didn't have same day fitting by a competent person arranged - if you had, none of this would be an issue. Most people I suspect would want a washing machine plumbed straight away so they could use it.0 -

Care to explain how a washing machine can be fully connected without being at least half pushed into its 'slot'?0 -
My washing machine is under the counter. The only way to connect/disconnect it is if it pulled all the way out to give space to get in to the water connection, drain and power. Pipes and leads are normally long enough, when taken out of their clips to achieve this.0

Bought a wm from AO a couple of months ago and they were the cheapest by far. The delivery day and time was spot on but they told me that they were CONTRACTED to AO not employed by them. They gave me a remarks document and I went online and told AO how good they were. Their business depends on the reviews.OP you should have paid for the installation.0

Having had it connected today I can confirm that the hoses were plenty long enough to connect up whilst it was pulled out, which is just as well as there'd be no way to do it otherwise.
The Screwfix rollers made it nice and easy to move into position as well and I doubt they'll move by themselves as they're touching the wood either side of the gap, not to mention the Beko doesn't vibrate much anyway. I asked my friend about trying a piece of carpet first but apart from not having any to hand, he thought it best to stick with the rollers as he didn't think carpet would work any better than the plywood we'd already tried and any drips from the machine onto the carpet could end up making it a bit nasty over time.0 -
