AO dumped washing machine in middle of kitchen

If you had paid for it to be installed, they would have pushed it into place - I don't think a standard length hose would be long enough to keep it pulled out.
You really don't need two able-bodied people or special rollers to slide it into place. Just get a piece of cardboard, lean on it to angle it up slightly and slip the card under the feet and then slide it on that, if you're worried about the floor.
We've had several big things delivered by AO and they've always been excellent. When I pay for delivery, I expect them deliver it, which they do, and they always leave it in the correct room. Where in the room is my job to sort out afterwards!0 -
This fire hazard thing is odd. I never close my kitchen door at night... I think you're actively looking for a battle0

I expect to order an American fridge freezer sometime soon. When you say they removed the doors, do you mean the doors to the fridge, or to the house?
I'm still thinking about the best way to get mine in without going over the new Amtico.0 -
It's not prejudice, just a fact. If he'd been friendly and helpful I wouldn't have cared where he was from
I wonder how you'd feel if the delivery driver left your premises thinking, "bloody disabled people, always being difficult".0 -
I think all of this would've been avoided, if the o p paid for installatiion
Relying on others ( disabled or not ) can be problematic.
If the person fitting in the machine was there when machine was being delivered , the problem would also have been avoided .
A few weeks back, my landlady orderd a washing machine from a o
( a o used 2 contractors). She was vague. I didn't know if they were installing it or not . The guys came in . Miserable barstewards.
I was polite as aleays . They delivered machine just inside kitchen.
No box or wrapping . Just polystyrene, and instructions.
I fitted it myself . She was lucky i was accommodating .0 -
I think the flooring damage reason might have legs.
We had a washing machine from AO and paid for fitting. Our utility floor at the time was laminate with quite a few dings. The fitter took pictures of the floor both before and after and pointed out that one particularly bad chip was there already.0 -

I don't understand why people keep insisting they would have pushed it into place if I'd paid the connection fee. It doesn't make any sense to think that they'd have been any more prepared to risk damaging my floor if I'd paid them the £24.99 fee, as they'd probably be worried about being sued for more than that. Hence why I said they should have a disclaimer that customers can sign if they're willing to take that risk.
I've already had a friend put some plywood under the machine but he still couldn't shift it (he's not particularly strong but a lot more so than I), so I think I'm going to need the rollers but I'll probably get these ones from Screwfix as they're a bit sturdier than the Argos ones http://www.screwfix.com/p/appliance-steel-roller-set/391580 -
