another week gone and first, the good news. Mr wii has spoken and I’m apparently down 2 pounds. I finally addressed a piece of work and the end is in sight for a client I am keen to finish up. A maximum of three more meetings, one invoice and hopefully I will never need to see these people again. It was also such a relief that I felt more capable of getting things done. I also realised that I should trust my instincts more. I had decided not to bid for this work but was persuaded otherwise as a favour to a friend.
also dh unearthed the widget that gets me into my business account so not only did I access that, I reconciled my accounting package and got 4 invoices issued. I delivered some on line training, got good feedback and possibly another £100 worth of work prospects. And I heard from a friend who I hadn’t had contact with in about a year.My workman came back, completed stage one of three and tidied up a few other small jobs that seriously improved the kitchen.
stage two is insulation and flooring of the roofspace which should happen in time for good weather but it will help next year and stage three will be majorly messy and not for a while. When stage 2 is done, it should allow permanent roof space items such as Christmas decorations and suitcases to be put away so other rooms will get sorted. The negatives include hmrc not paying the tax rebate requested over three weeks ago. This is to top up my pension this tax year. I am not happy. Necessary discussions with dh are not happening and, on Fri, having had a meeting about reports issued to the client. I got to the car, started the 50 mile journey home, hit roadworks, had nowhere to stop and was sick all over me. Thankfully dh was at home so he unlocked the back door and left a bathrobe down for me so the dress I was wearing did not have to come into the house. The sooner I can get this client finished up the better. Life is too short.
today I need to crack on with some client work and do my expenses for the past few months. There is at least one more invoice required to go and a query to go to a client. If my friend is free for coffee, I’m determined to catch up with her today plus laundry needs done.

Sounds like you will be well rid of this client. Well done on the weightloss, and good that progress is being made on the house."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Sorry to hear about that horrible day and the difficult client. The good news is great though.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Yesterday I got £50 of good news from Ernie followed later in the day of good news from a new to me client. With recent work, I have now covered, in full, income from the 2 month to be ex client.
other opportunities are waiting to be explored. I just need to extract a digit and get on with it. I have been told in the past that I suffer from imposter syndrome. The question I have is how can one tell the difference between genuinely not being good enough and imposter syndrome? Anyhow it’s too early in the day to be having these thoughts.

Congrats on the PB win and the new client.
I also suffer a bit from imposter syndrome, and it's not fun.
However, you win bids, you have clients who return for more, and you successfully complete work. That suggests to me that you are perfectly competent and quite possibly beating yourself up too much!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks jwil. I agree with your logic just seem to be unable to apply it to myself. I got word this week that my contract with a longstanding client has been terminated due to funding issues. It’s unfortunate as this is the client whose service delivery I most admire. I’d rather the cuts came to me than to their client group and will still use their social economy cafe but probably less as I won’t have a reason to be in the vicinity. I really am going to do some business development. There are three possible submissions due between now and Thursday. Anyone of these would address the shortfall.
on other news, mr wii advised of a 1pound gain. I consider that I got off lightly as my water intake was far too low and replaced with sweetened colas and cups of tea generally accompanied by a biscuit. My workman returned and measured up for stage 2. This is good news as the completion of this stage will allow for all other rooms in the house to return to their original purposes but all reduced, to some degree, of stuff.
yesterday dh did some sorting of pots of money, points, etc. £70 of vouchers are on their way plus £400 was transferred to a better interest bearing account. This includes the £5 gained from one of our three remaining vinted items selling, so an added bonus of an item leaving the house. We have loads more waiting to be listed, some bnwt. The bad news is that I read somewhere that my tax refund which should have paid out last week at the latest, is now taking twice as long to process. That means I’m unlikely to be able to add to my pension this tax year. Wonder how understanding hmrc would be if my payments took an extra 4-6 weeks to reach them.
right, today I need to achieve something. Yesterday was all about the rugby. Gutted for the 3 green retirees being defeated in their last ever game at the national stadium.

That's frustrating about the tax. Hope it gets resolved."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1
