where does the time go? Dh was away last weekend so no weigh in. This morning’s was up by a pound. I’ll take that as I’m still in the 11s. Plus I made a big pot of veg soup yesterday so that will help this coming week. I’ve also identified tonight’s dinner as carrot, parsnip, mash, sausages and onion gravy so it’s not too bad in terms of fresh veg consumption.Well, I know where one day went. Friday was spent looking out the window at our elderly street trees wondering why we hadn’t followed up the complaint about root spread on our drive and path. I’m happy to say we escaped unscathed though a relative had part of their roof blown in in a below 10 year old property. The weirdest thing I encountered was the red alert to all mobiles on Thursday afternoon. I was in a shop and everyone stopped dead. It was like Voldemort had activated the dark mark. I also witnessed people shopping for a siege. I bought milk, bread, Pepsi max and the makings of three meals. It was sufficient along with what’s in store. On money news, we came out of vm contract. Cue a phone discussion where I was advised that the offer was withdrawn as I refused to sign up without reading the contract. I’m still awaiting the call back requested to discuss my complaint.Over the course of the week, I read an article in huff post that resonated with me. I’m working to incorporate it to tweak a mindset. I’ll report back if it holds and post a link if it’s working. It did prompt the boxing up of 17 items to be collected by dpd on Wednesday, getting a too sturdy to recycle box used and the making of the soup and prep of another dinner. All at zero cost.
my approach to work is still a struggle but I intend to adopt my new approach to it. Definitely needed as I have a new client and an expression of interest from a potential three year job.
right, I need to get going. As always I am grateful for

Glad you were unscathed by the storm. The article sounds intriguing.
That's a shocking attitude from VM, makes you wonder what they are hiding in there!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
I always have soup for my lunch and credit it to maintaining my 16lb weight loss for 23 years. I find it very filling and don’t feel the need to have bread with it.I’ve had a recent dealing with VM but it was positive so sorry to hear your experience wasn’t good.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Glad you missed the awful storm inod. The mother of an acquaintance of my DD was marooned in the first floor of her home for a day because of a power cut due to the storm and she couldn't use her stairlift to get down to the ground floor. Very worrying for the son and his family as they live over in England and weren't on hand. That red alert must have been really odd! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

So, this morning’s conversation with mr wii showed a slight reduction but not enough to hit another pound. I’ll happily take that.So where did last week go. Work was done with some nasties cleared - more remain outstanding but it’s going in the right direction. The new tweak works when I don’t run out of steam. Both offspring dropped differing health related bombshells on different days. When I felt like hiding under the duvet, I did and made work hours up when in a better frame of mind.
we renewed with VM for 18 months when they started corresponding by email without any deadlines. I am keen to retain our landline and understand that it can be difficult to source a new provider of one. I’m still pursuing my complaint.
on the food side, soup was consumed and some was frozen and three takeaways were consumed. One was a lunch from the social enterprise client which I aim to do. I’m really supportive of how this client works. One was a cba day and the other was a rugby related pizza with enough left for today’s lunch. Other meals came from the freezer but not too much space has appeared. We are incredibly in need to veg for this coming week. That said, we fly to London on Fri evening for the weekend. I will catch up with ds and the in laws. I was jealously reading cherryfudge’s recap of her weekend. It seems quite a while since we had a London weekend just for us. The joys of dh’s aging parents plus my desire to see my two.
on the money side, I once again tried to get dh to think about finances and reciprocal access to these. Along with most things, this is something he must get around to doing. He has access to my business and personal banking arrangements along with my email accounts. I have no access to anything of his yet he is the regular earner with the associated pension arrangements. He just doesn’t get it.He is also incredibly remiss at transferring funds from surveys, cash back, etc. he will exclaim with glee when he sees them but sometimes for the third or fourth time while forgetting to do anything with them. My view is that, at our ages, whatever we can put into a pension is money well spent even if it is just £100 of extras. I accept though that the £5 won on last night’s lottery will just go towards the next ticket.
i re established contact yesterday with my elusive builder. Hopefully there will be progress with insulation finally getting done by the summer! We had decided we were at the point of welcoming a four legged fiend back into our lives but this is on hold until the work is done. At present the only rooms existing as they should are the kitchen and the bathroom. It’s all getting on top of me a bit.On the upside, the days are starting to stretch and it’s great to see.So, a bit of a mixed bag update. Today I am grateful for
possible work opportunities

I agree it's nice to see the days getting longer"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
