Oh no! What on earth are they playing at? A few toxic or shiftless people can play havoc with a workplace - I'm guessing this is what's happening. The sooner you are rid of them, the better.

Look after yourself: hope the bloods are behaving themselves.

  • You know, maybe it’s sticking my head in the sand but this weekend I’m giving no time to dealing with that client. Yesterday we had the laziest of lazy days and last night I started work on something I’ve wanted to do for ages. It’s a piece of work, for a business, that I’m doing on a purely voluntary basis. It’s about improvements rather than fixing what’s broken. The owner, while she believes she was only doing her job, made such a difference to something that was so important to me and this has been on my to do list for the past year. In preparing to do it, I also s not a bundle of articles to the recycling and sub divided what’s left which will make them easier to manage. Yesterday I also made an opticians appointment for today. Over the past 10 days I have noticed a major change in my vision and it’s something I will not take chances with. I have reconciled myself to probably needing glasses at my advanced age but I really don’t want the hassle or the expense. I do have a voucher for a free eye test which is good. This will be combined with feeding the car and getting groceries.

I cashed out my tcb as m&s vouchers so there is £16 towards nice food that will hopefully keep me on track diet wise. Speaking of which, my bs climbed today. I really don’t know how but there will be day to day fluctuations. However there was a full week within range so today I have reduced my tablets by one. My aim is to get back to consistently within normal in the next 2 weeks. Interestingly, I have also reduced my stomach tablets by one a day though this started off by accident rather than by design and, as I didn’t suffer any ill effects, I stayed with it. So, if this latest reduction works, it’s a 20% reduction in number of tablets taken. Plus, today I had my weekly conversation with mr wii. The scores on the doors are in my updated sig but it’s a further 4lbs off. That’s 10lbs in two weeks which is a brilliant result given it’s not my primary goal.

Today I am doing house stuff, work admin that includes transferring money from business to me. Lots of bitty things so a list is in order.

    Today I am grateful for
    Positive health results
    Decluttering albeit by babysteps
A switch off from that client

I don't think there's any harm at all in taking a break from that client - they have no right to your personal life. :)

Good idea to get your eyes checked: having glasses makes a big difference if you're someone who needs them and I've also benefitted from the optician being very quick on the uptake when I developed a thrombosis out of the blue, and also fitting me in as an emergency when I had a (temporary) blip in my field of vision. It's amazing what the eyes show up - my optician showed me how they could tell if my thyroxine levels might need adjusting. Of course with diabetes it's doubly worth being on top of things, so getting in there quickly is important - but too easy to defer as I'm sure many would be tempted to do. Sorry, that sounds like a lecture, it wasn't meant to!

I am so impressed by all these improvements in your health! Well done for sticking with the plan, the weight loss and reduction in medication is brilliant!

  • I cannot make sense of how bs works. Yesterday I reduced medication expecting a jump in levels but they are lower today than at a later time yesterday with full meds. Still, they are comfortably in range with fewer drugs so that’s a big plus.

Went to the optician yesterday. I am poor. I needed 2 pairs of glasses. One for reading and one for driving. I had the option of varifocals but given I’ve never worn glasses before, thought it better to opt for 2 distinct pairs. Due to our usual builder being away, our £1k windfall was untouched so £169 was spent. This included an additional scan for early identification of any seepage issues that cost £10 plus both pairs having anti glare coating.

One of the worst things about diabetes is that, due to the number of side effects of the illness, it’s easy to believe that anything that changes in a bad way is linked to the illness.

After the opticians, we went to m&s and picked up some bits. We had 41p change left on my tcb voucher. We then added to it at Lidl where our bill was under £10 spent mainly on veg. We need to be brave and try to see exactly what is living in the freezer.

Last night I did up an invoice and have another 2 to go by the end of March. It might even be 3 if a client gets their finger out. Other than that, no work was done. Today I am heading to that client but will just be prepping stuff for handover though I’m unsure to whom. My plan is to deliver on any action points, etc. And then be gone. I will also follow up on the rumbling on issue.

I know this is what you have all been telling me but it’s really hard to walk from a charity with direct service user engagement. They really do need help.

I have two other pieces of client work that I need to move on. Both are time bounded and I have just received a meeting request from the client I’m on contract with for £500 per month. There are also 2 tenders to be considered.

    Today I am grateful
That my eyes are getting old as opposed to anything more sinister
For a weekend when I stepped away from the work
For being able to afford the glasses needed
