    Hi Boo

What about Spicy potato wedges and chilli con carne . Get one person to bring a side salad, one to bring desert, and one to bring a starter? That's economical!:rotfl:Bacon sandwiches, fried egg and home made oven chips?

Or easy chicken curry with home made bread ?

You may find other ideas in these threads

OS party food (I'll merge your thread with this one later)

    Cheap easy bufffet food

Cheese and wine party MSE style

    Pudding and desert recipes

    Delicious cold desert

    Cold dessert for 11 people?

    Thanks

hmm, yup maybe the cheese would catch too much on the metal pot if you made it from scratch in there - I would be tempted to make it in a saucepan first then pour into the metal fondue pot just to keepwarm. then hopefully you'll only get the nice crusty cheese at the bottom after just keeping it warm. Nigella has a recipe for 4 people here that uses 600g of mixed cheeses.
I'd guess that you could probably make it for under a tenner ?

I make cheese fondue in a copper fondue thingy.

But fondue is not the best good tv food, because you have to look to spike and look to dip and all facing the pot.

I'd certainly go with the cheesey theme though, so funny!

Cheesy quick & cheap = Naan bread (or regular based) pizzas. Also no tricky looking at what you are eating and napkins only so washing up is minimal :D

Cheesecake seems a likely pud ;) - Asda do a really very nice American baked (New York) style in the freezer section for about £2...

In a couple of weeks my hubby and I are having an open house for friends and family to see weddding photos and see the new house etc. I'm looking for simple ideas for food to have out on the table to go with cuppies in the afternoon and then more hot stuff / substantial food to go with drink and for around teatime. Don't have stacks of cash this month and don't want to make the work too much for me as will be copying photos onto discs during the day as well.

All I've got at the moment are 6 tubes of pringles - buy 1 get 2 free from tesco, which I got with my big shop.

    Thanks!!

  • Hi everyone,

I could use some ideas for a savory party dish for my manager Christmas party.
I travel by train , so can't be too heavy or sloppy. I also have no facilities to warm things up.

What I don't want to do is stop at M&S on the way and buy a load of expensive food like I resorted to last year!

Thanks in advance for the great ideas!

How about some HM granary bread, sliced thinly and topped with cream cheese and smoked salmon?
