Does it matter?'guys' can mean 'men' or 'people of either sex'.
I agree, I'm being pedantic, but you started it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
^^ American dictionary and usage (try putting in "color" and then "colour").
In the UK, "guy" generally indicates a male person.
Would you prefer the Cambridge dictionary then?

Mainly US, yes, but with the internet, forums etc are pretty 'multilingual'.
I've used "guys" to mean "people" (of either gender) probably for the last decade, if not longer (and yes, UK based)0 -
Adam: Could one of you guys help me move this sofa?
Bill: Sure!
Carol: How dare you call me a guy!
Adam: Forget I asked... Bill, you push and I'll pull.
Carol: So just because I'm a woman you don't think I can move a sofa? Sexist pigs.
[Exit Carol, tweeting on her smartphone about #EverydaySexism. Adam and Bill move the sofa, rolling their eyes. Another blow struck for equality.]0
