Opened my foundation today to get the last dregs, it looks like there is loads in there so I think it will last a few weeks longer! Going to do the same with my face moisturiser.

    Greetings Frugal Ones,
Weird sort of day today. Sun keeps popping out & I'd have liked to have spent some time this morning in the greenhouse sowing more veg, but had to wait in for the glass repair man......& when he arrived, he'd been sent with the wrong windscreen. Suffice it to say, I am still indoors waiting, as he managed to source the correct one & is coming back shortly to do the work. Money saving bits today:
*Still eating my way through the big pan of frozen rhubarb I cooked earlier this week, which is making our fresh fruit supplies last longer.
*Dinner as per meal plans - a tomato pasta sauce I cooked back in September from our home grown tomatoes. Will add a bit of veg to it & top with cheese.
*Payment for 4 pairs of hand knitted socks arrived in the post so popped to Post Office to pay it in.
*Posted another sock order. Waited first to see if recipient was willing to pay the postage or whether she'd prefer to wait until I can give the socks to a family member to pass to her. Happy to pay the postage so unravelled a brown paper carrier bag to recycle into nice strong free parcel wrapping paper.
*Did quite a lot of surveys. Am at £42.50 on Ugov, £32 on Onepoll, 1020 points on Ipsos & 59,770 points on Toluna, so not too far off cash-in on all of them.
*Checked meal plan for tomorrow & took relevant stuff out of the freezer. In the past, forgetting to defrost stuff was one of our biggest reasons for buying take-aways (well.....that & being shocking pigs, I guess!)
    *Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Had hoped to meet mr f off his bus & go for free coffees at Waitrose this afternoon, but unless Mr Windscreen Fitter is super-speedy, I think I will be putting the kettle on at home & mr f will be walking home! Never mind, I'd sooner have the job done properly.
*Did the ironing - as usual only ironed what really needed it.....amazing how much stuff can get away with not being ironed if you give it a good shake & lay it out on the bed. Can't pretend this is all for electricity-saving purposes......I just really dislike ironing.
Right.......I'm back. You didn't know I'd been away, did you? Mr Windscreen Fitter has just arrived & made a start.....defo no free coffee for me as job takes 45 mins & then car needs to be left at least 30 mins for the glue to dry. So am about to text mr f to pick up butterbeans & bread, grab a free coffee for himself & start walking! As for me, well I have to attend a meeting tonight, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to stop moaning about having to stay in, & to read through the paperwork. Might knit & watch 'Roots' too. Not a very productive day but I'm not out spending & getting that cheque in the post was good.
    Cheers all,
    F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Ooh, I wonder if I could find people to pay me for sock knitting!

  • Well I was surprisingly efficient today! Aiming high clearly worked out for me

    Today's list:
    1. leave my wallet at home when I go into town with a friend later - I have no need to buy anything, we are not intending to stop for coffee, therefore I don't need money. Done!
    2. batch cook tomato soup. Done!
    3. batch cook black bean chilli. Done!
    4. batch cook macaroni cheese. Ran out of enthusiasm for batch cooking and didn't get this done, will do it tomorrow.
    5. batch cook sweet potato and coconut milk soup. Done!
    6. social media while working. Done!
    7. tidy my dining room - find it so stressful when it's such a mess! Sort of done! It's better than it was before, at least.
    8. RETURN THE ONLINE ORDER THAT I KEEP IGNORING. Returns request processed, just need to drop it off tomorrow.
