    Morning

    It's pay day!

I paid an extra payment of £180 off my Tesco CC today - leftovers from last months pay. I am determined to get this debt gone but it will take time.

I made my lunch for work, paid bills and bought some milk.

I have my gym kit for yoga lunchtime - a lady in work does a class every Thursday and its a good stretch out after doing weights all week

Admin have been in touch to let me know that I have 1.5 days leave to use by end of March - might save them and roll them into next year?

    Morning everyone,

Not had the most MS week here unfortunately but this morning I feel focused and ready to get myself in gear. Yesterday we viewed a flat in a different town; it was lovely and the plan is to save around £5000 a year by downgrading.

    Today I have/will:
    *[STRIKE]check accounts[/STRIKE] done
    *[STRIKE]call estate agent[/STRIKE] done, offer accepted :T A definite money-saving move, I'm excited
    *[STRIKE]update YNAB[/STRIKE] done
    *work, work, work :j
*[STRIKE]make expenses claims at work[/STRIKE] done
*[STRIKE]washing out and hung up[/STRIKE] done
    *[STRIKE]clean and hoover[/STRIKE] done
    *free coffee in town
*[STRIKE]look into MSE credit report, as currently paying Experian every month...[/STRIKE] done but it won't accept me - I've lived at some addresses that aren't on the Royal Mail address system so wonder if it could be that...
*[STRIKE]meal planning for the next week[/STRIKE] done

Hope everyone has a lovely day today.

    Hi all
Glad to hear your feeling good CLF and DNMS hope you can get that emergency appointment sorted. Well done AllyDowd's for getting dosh for your piccie!
Looking pretty grim outside. Thinking of stuff we can do indoors today.
    - The spare room is looking good almost done. Do people shred their receipts?
    - Going to iron some clothes for eBay listings. This is actually the only time I tend to iron! No iron everests for me, I buy clothes that don't need ironing or just make do, I probably have 1 or 2 blouses that I iron around the edges occasionally!
    - I worked out the whole Pringle Movie voucher/Google Play thing yesterday. I downloaded a movie that would have cost £5 and we all watched it, including my DD's friend who came to sleepover.
    - Took my DD's phone to the repair shop (remember it fell in a bowl of water) and he's said it can't be fixed. Luckily my SIL has an old phone she is selling so looks like we'll buy that, although that's £100 I hadn't planned for! I have a Christmas/Holiday/Birthday fund so it will have to come out of that.
    - Good news though, the Wii I bought for my DD's Christmas present has been fixed so she can now use it. I bought it second hand for £30, didn't test it and it had a modification on it so we couldn't update it. However, a friend of a friend has now taken this off so we can play the 'Just Dance' game we bought for her :-)
    - Bought a YS birthday card for my SIL yesterday from Clintons.
    - Bought my DD a YS choc milkshake instead of paying the coffee shop price yesterday.
    - FPL and comps
    - Bumping Facebook and relisting eBay items.
    - Check market research apps nothing nearby.

Think that's it for now, who knows what the day will bring...LP x

Yay just had brilliant news, called Student Loan Co - was on my to do list and I needed to change my payment from salary sacrifice to DD to avoid over paying - now I though I had £2.4k left to pay but it is only £939 woo hoo

That means my last student loan payment will be in September and I finished my degree in 2002

    Hi Thursday Savers,
Well it's blowing a gale here like everywhere else. Woke up at 3.40 a.m so have decided job list be damned, I'm on leisure time for the rest of today, except for cooking dinner. A few things:
*Cleaned downstairs usingbminimal products & washable cloths.
*Did 3 annoying jobs off the list....the most annoying being the removal of black mould from a hard to reach corner of the bathroom behind the loo.
*Unblocked bathroom sink using spiky pokey thing which came in a box of £1 Wilko's sink unblocker. Didn't need to use any of the product once I'd given it some welly with said spiky pokey thing. No plumber required.
*Did next week's meal plans prioritising stuff we have in the fteezer & pantry.
*Nipped down to greenhouse during lull in the rain & sowed aubergines & cucumbers. Now snug in propagator (them not me!)
*Finished up the last of 2016's rhubarb as today's fruit before the new spring crop appears (forcing crock is in place).
*Finish pair of baby socks using leftover sock yarn. Then I might investigate alternative methods of joining my little blanket squares.....I think I'm going off my test sample which used crochet.
Hope you've all battened down the hatches & are staying safe,

CrazyCatLady, you are not allowed out until you've done your homework :rotfl:

UphillStruggler I down 'area'd last year (same square footage, not quite such a nice area) shaving £400 per month off my mortgage, it's the best feeling and has opened other doors that I wouldn't have been able to afford whilst still servicing such a large mortgage.

DNMS, I feel your pain, my temporary fillings came out when I ate peanuts yesterday. I've just been out to buy more and some pro relief toothpaste (that stuff is magical.)

Am I the only one loving the blustery day?! I love extremes of weather (except heatwaves.)

I got up earlier today and put the stuff for a slow cooker curry in. It is by no means cooked from scratch, I just sliced two chicken breasts and an onion then threw in a tray of YS Mediterranean veg and a jar of own brand butter sauce but it's nice knowing the teens will have a hot dinner while I'm out this evening (and not be badgering me for pizza!)

Popped out for dental stuff and also some cheese and biscuits for lunch, it cost me £2.50 (but there's enough for tomorrow too) but considering I work in the middle of wonderful takeout food from all four corners of the globe it was quite restrained!

I also bought some heavier weight card to start printing out some order of service samples to photograph.

I have £10 in my purse and don't plan to take out any more, it'll be enough to pay for one drink and a burger on the way home.

There are free cupcakes at work, I've gone for one decorated with jelly beans :)

  • I love windy weather too FVD! As long as I have the right gear for the weather then nothing much bothers me.

I am at the station and am thus far resisting the urge to buy lovely milky coffee and chocolate bar to eat on my train journey. Doubly money saving if I can resist, as I need to lose weight to continue to fit into all my clothes! :rotfl:
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

Stuck to my plan to have a leisurely afternoon. Watched some TV & knitted while cat snoozed then suddenly woke up & started heckling me big time for food. Then a couple more bits of money saving:
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Went down to the greenhouse to pick a bowl of home grown rocket.
*Sorted through the fridge for further salad items which need using up. Zero food waste here!
    *Did a few surveys,
*Talked to mr f about probably cancelling our planned trip out at the weekend. Had thought we'd have a day up in North Yorkshire but weather forecast looks pretty wet, so 164 miles worth of diesel round trip seems a waste of money if it's too wet to walk about when we get there. Then considered a closer day out, just to Derbyshire, but that's still about 50 miles of diesel just probably to buy a coffee & get soggy. Hmmm, think we will definitely plan something much closer to home (& cheap) & save our further flung trips for when the weather's nicer.
*Was able to 'add' another item to my wardrobe today. Mum gave me a really nice top last year but I couldn't fit in a size 16 with my weight creeping up again, Tried it on this morning & it fits. Think will get my brave girl's pants on next week & get on the scales again. Anyway, a nice free top. That's got to be good!

  • Done ok :D DH sorted cupboards and did some sanding of door frames. He did find some 2 year OOD malt extract that is in my use up box, so I used 2 tablespoons in a malt bread in the bread maker. Also used up 2 open packets of yeast ;) (taste yummy warm with butter ;)) Just going to put a banana cake in BM and then I'll freeze that.

Found one of the annoying jobs that was on my list had been done by a handyman who did something else a few weeks ago and there was a box over it so I didn't know it had been fixed :j

Diced roast pork from a previous joint out of freezer, will use up a load of veg in the fridge and a tin of chickpeas for tea. May make some swede mash for later in the week whilst I'm there.

Vouchers for free coffee and a cake arrived x 2. Duly filled:D
