Afternoon Campers,
Not a bad day today on the money saving front, so here's my list of stuff:
*Grocery shopping £3-09 under budget this week (Aldi for main shop, Wilko's for cat food, local market for some of our fruit & veg and Waitrose for 3 remaining items). Local market selling big oranges at 5 for £1 today, so bought 10, as last week's were lovely & that's a very good price.
*Treated ourselves to a bacon roll at our favourite indie cafe.......used our Personal Spends so no detriment to bank account & this cafe serves a free regular coffee with all breakfast menu items so that was a saving.
*Picked some more homegrown rocket for tonight's salad.
*Picked up 2 free magazines from Waitrose plus free coffees.
*Enter 2 competitions (will be doing those in a minute)
*Updated survey project.....it doesn't take long each day & the vouchers will be nice.
*Small amount of knitting money arrived in the post - Yay to knitting money!
*Free fitness - put pedometer on & went for a walk around the village to admire the drifts of snowdrops around the river banks. 2.2 miles & 254 calories burned (you can tell I've got a weigh-day coming up next week, can't you?!)
*Use-it-up - 1 success: Started using the last of another 'finished' lipstick with a lip brush to get the last 1/3 of it out. 1 failure: Tried a nail polish that's been lingering in my nail box for years unused.....what a waste! However, my nails now look as though I've dipped them in rancid taramasalata, so I'm afraid this is a product destined for the bin.
*All free leisure today - knit, read library book....because I still don't know who the killer is....read free magazines, write my journal & retire to the sofa later with mr f & a few candles to watch a film.
Have a good day, all.

Hi everyone,
Had a good day so far - the house is just not as tidy as I'd like it to be... No friends coming round for tea tonight so the same urgency isn't there :rotfl:
I've been for a bit of a walk, did some free exercise (weighted hula hooping) and going to do some yoga and meditation too. :A
Finished a £3 survey that popped into my inbox. :T
The beef is slow cooking so hopefully that'll work out quite nicely.
Then it's a quiet night in with some knitting, cheesy TV and a bottle of vino from stores.
Have a good Saturday night peeps! :beer:0 -
Oh, I'm sure I'd be way less grumpy if I were a professional crochet guru. How cool would that be? Although I suspect I would start missing science sooner or later.
Thanks for thinking of me angelpye. I've gotten less grumpy as the day has gone on but I am a bit 'meh' about going back to work. I really don't feel rested and therefore not that good about going back to school next week.
Today has been ok in the end. Took ds to football training and spent the entire time sitting in the car because it was blowing a hoolie outside and I don't have that level of dedication to the cause. I took a book with me and got a good hour of quiet reading time which was lovely.
Did 2 hours (unexpected) at tutoring this afternoon, which is one of the nicest and easiest jobs in the world, so a bit of extra unexpected cash which is much needed at the moment.
Then had to pop to a shop somewhere on the way home as we had reached our last toilet roll and I was starting to panic about running out - 18 rolls later I'm happy again...Not giving up

CCL I have watched one of my boys play football or cricket pretty much every Sunday for the last 10 years. DS2 is about to finish junior football and I must admit I do sit in the car these days and have a little bit of me time, with one eye on the match.
So, paid stuff done, pleased with myself. I did need a few bits of grocery shopping and ended up going to the nearer, more expensive supermarket to avoid hideous roadworks. Sort of regretted it afterwards but never mind.
Feet up, Christmas pressie wine poured and fire lit. Will do the finance spreadsheets in the morning.0 -
Hi all
Had a busy couple of days and quite spendy but all my mse ways (inspired by you lovely lot) have enabled me to save and pay cash, so here's the hilights:
Checked Bank
Emulsioned & glossed our livingroom
Hung wallpaper
Washed curtains (said dry clean only but did them on a delicate quick wash and they're fine, as they're 90 x 90 it would have been  to have them dry cleaned) & hung
Washed towels and line dried (yesterday, as weather was gorgeous, today has been a washout)
Rehung large picture on attic staircase
Sold 4 items via FB (£20 to me & less clutter)
Ordered mirror for lounge (and used a code for 10% off)
Investigated purchasing a slate hearth, found on ebay and as fairly close to us didn't buy but went direct to salvage yard (bargain £24)
Ordered vinyl for our kitchen and carpet for our lounge
Moved quite a lot of boxes to mums new flat and hung a couple of pictures and kitchen clock
Emptied shredder ready for recycling collection Monday
Purged a few emails
Entered a few comps
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
Checked: Lucky Phone, Ashleigh, Numberplatelotto,
Read - new book started
Off to bed shortly as shattered, really hoping I can sleep as it's been a shocking week for insomnia.

Evening All
I'm just on the countdown till I go out and lock up after tonight's event. Have to make sure they've done a good job as I'm back in early doors for a viewing then the next event. It's raining, my die hard biker credentials are wobbling
Small thingalings for today
1. Reconciled my months spending on personal account.
2. My new business account card arrived. Just need my pin number to get started. 25 month's free banking here I come.
3. Made home made quarter pounders for dinner with wedges, tomato & herb salad and home made pickled cucumber. Delicious.
4. Added more emergency storecupboard items to my shelf today.
5. Used a triple points coupon on my top up shop.
6. OH added a new red back light to my bike, which DS found a few months ago, to replace my broken one. Nice Womble and saving.
7. Walked or cycled all journies today
8. Both kids in one bath, saved the water
9. Went to give DD a ride on one of those electronic rides in the supermarket but she didn't want to, so £1 saved
10. Found 2p roadkill.
Night all.

As a musician I read this as "crotchet-er" and was trying to work out what the smurf she did for a living! :rotfl:Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Hi everyone
Ziggy - sounds like a fab day!! Good news about the curtains!
Hope the event went well Bob!
I woke up quite early this morning so thought I'd join the land of the living and get up
I've almost finished the baby toy I've been making. Just the fiddly bits of doing the face, stuffing etc. I forgot how long knitting takes compared to crocheting (crotchet-ing :rotfl:) so I'll be glad when this is done.
I need to go to Aldi this morning for a tiny shop (get paid on Tuesday) - have my £12 in hand
We've got a very luxurious day planned at the spa! Should be quite dfw as only need tram tickets - everything else is paid for (my bday pressie to OH).
Catch up soon everyone!0
