It reminded me of this idiot. Glad they threw the book at him. Thanks for the update.
They only half threw the book at him for costs, so he got off fairly lucky.0 -
The fact that Marbo seemed surprised that the PC's evidence consisted of reading from her statement is more evidence to show how unprepared and out of his depth he was with the whole Mag's court process. Every single time I've given evidence in both Mags and Crown court my evidence has been based entirely on the statement I wrote at the time of the incident or on the body cam footage recorded at the time. Secondly he also seemed surprised that the CPS only looked at the case file on the day of the trial. That is not unusual at all as the CPS has such a heavy case load that 1/2 hours preparation is the norm nowadays.0

I don't know £300 is still fairly steep, unless you know of someone who's been charged £600 for a summary trial. It's often less than £50.0 -

OP pleaded not guilty. SO costs are normally £620.0 -

So you know someone who's been charged £620?
I've never seen anyone get that for a summary trial.0 -
Considering he turned down an awareness course at the beginning it really is a large chunk of "stupidity tax" he's now paying...====0

Go to pepipoo and see what they say costs are for a contested trial. OP contested. You only get £85 costs when you plead guilty.0 -

The CPS say £620 is at the lower end of the scale, see http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/a_to_c/costs/annex_1_-_scales_of_cost/
Or is that just internet hearsay?0 -
