Vodafone Retention Deals

Just came off the phone with Voda C/S and asked if I needed to write in, and they said yes you do in order to fully cancel an account. The guy asked if he could do anything to keep me as a customer, and I mentioned either of the above deals. He said it must be a cashback deal to be so cheap and he could not match either one! By the way, fsrandom, where did you see the deal of the free N96 and 600 mins and unlimited texts at £12.50 for 6 months and £25.00 for the remaining 6 months?
That was a new connection and not something you'll likely see replicated (definately not on an upgrade unless you spend thousands a month). I have a feeling he knew someone.0 -
I'm on a VODAFONE 30 day , sim only contract for £20 a month which gets me 600 minutes and 'unlimited' texts ( Though there is a fair usage policy of 3000 , not so unlimited)
Anyway , i was wondering if there are any retentions for this sort of contract???????
Thanks :j
You do not ask! You do not get!
Suck it and see
Did u also take.
"Quidco £90 back after 4 months = £10 total for 5 months"- as well
and if you did have you got the quidco kick back, when after the start of contract did u get it?0 -
Vodafone Retention have offered me to stay with them the following package as I was seriously thinking of moving to Asda Mobile with their cheap PAYG Deal. :
150 minutes/1000 texts/Passport/Unlimited internet access.
Cost 15.00 per month.
12 month contract.
IS THIS A GOOD DEAL ?
Should I stay with Vodafone or move. I already have my PAC code here.
Advice please from someone who can understand the minefield of mobile phone charges.0 -

I took this from another thread. It has to be said if you manage a good repore with the individual at callcentre you can get be given a lot more
"Sales advisors can offer certain deals at their own discretion and can do so without informing customers (Eg. One advisor this morning gave an old lady a free sky+ box because she spent the entire call being incredibly polite, friendly and attentive to him). She didn't ask for any deals and wasn't aware that the free box wasn't the norm.
Our advisors gain absolutely nothing from giving customers better deals. On the flipside, they generally gain nothing from witholding offers. Our sales targets are only very gently enforced. If you call up and are quoted full price and the advisor sticks to it rigidly, it is because you are either rude, abrupt, not paying attention or generally making the advisors job difficult. My top tip would be to be nice, feign an interest in the person who is, afterall, only doing their job, speak clearly and don't try and lead the call or bully a better offer out.
Call centre work is often soul destoying, so if you make someone's day a little easier, it'll often be rewarded"0 -

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I thought I was getting done and now I know it.
Time to squeeze them dry or move on I guess0 -
I'm on a decent Vodafone contract having been with them a few years...can't remember the exact deal but I pay 16 a month and get 75 minutes anytime and some amount of texts (not quite sure how many!).
I'm really just after a handset upgrade as I'm happy with the contract, preferably to a Samsung Omnia which I can get from them staying on my same contract for 18months for a little under 180 pounds.
I can't find the handset on a better monthly rate with them or anyone else, but just wonder if its worth my while phoning to cancel the contract in the hope of getting a better price on the handset. 180 seems a reasonable price for it - does anyone know/think if I'm unlikely to get a better offer from them?

Sometimes one is lucky and get the right person in the right call centre, but if you do not ask-you do not get, and then you can ask again and again, eventually you will find something exceptable that is offered.
Then after receipt of phone ask more more within the cancellation period!0 -
I pay £10 per month for 100 mins any network and 50 texts per month -- and I got a new Samsung steel slider phone thrown in (obviously not as good as the Omnia, but still ...) -- so your current deal isn't one of the best ... ring up Vodafone, say you want to cancel and make sure you are talking to the retentions dept as they can give u the keenest deals -- it's then that you need to bargain for the Omnia if that's what you want. The best deals are only if they think you want to leave. Although having said that, they wouldn't give me a better deal than this, as they sent me my pac code! Haven't tried bargaining for more mins within the cancellation period as dont go over my 100 mins/50 txts per month ... Good luck and let us know how you get on!0
