shall i wait for a call from them or shall i carry on calling to see if i get a better deal?

Most likely your contract DOES NOT finish on the 13th of Jan, you just end the 12 month minimum term then. They are unlikely to call you, if you do nothing your contract will roll on at the same rate you are paying.

Ask for your PAC code, that ahows you are moving and usually means retentions will call who can maybe offer a better deal. It also helps if it's towards the end of the month, as then they have tagets to meet and are more generous..

Hi guys, just thought I would (hopefully) help you grab a better deal....

I have until recently been on £20 a month sim only for 500mins and Unlimited texts (or something like that) with Vodafone.

Recently saw a deal I liked on Virgin - Nokia 6220 Classic £20 a month on 12 months with £70 cashback through Quidco = just over £14 a month.

So I rang to cancel Vodafone.

The usual spiel followed about what deal had I been offered and they proceeded to offer me the Nokia 6210 Navigator for £20 a month - 12 months for something like 300 mins and 600 texts.

Told him that £20 a month on VF or £14 a month on Virgin was no contest. He blabbed on about how their deal had more mins and texts but told him I rarely use more than 100/100. In the end he gave up and gave my PAC.

Two days later got another call saying "I understand your leaving".... etc

The bloke offers to match the deal as follows: £14 a month, 100mins/100texts (which actually turned out to be unlimited texts) Nokia 6210 Navigator, 12 months.

    I accepted.

The 6210n is not quite as good as the 6220c (3m camera compared to 5m) but I preferred £14 a month guaranteed with VF rather than sweating on cashback for Virgin.

Only shame is missing out on Virgins 30p a day cap on data charges... hey ho.

Hope this helps someone snag a good deal.

Having read about some of the great deals people have got, I realised how much my Mum was probably overpaying on her contract. She had 75 mins and 50 texts for £20 a month, which is obviously absurd. This has now been knocked down to £10 a month for 100 mins and 50 texts and a new phone, some Nokia jobby, on a 12 month contract.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their advice, I'm trying next!

How long does it take to receive a PAC? I requested 8 days ago but yet to receive it. Should I worry?

I requested mine and was told it would be posted to me within 5 days, but then 2 days later I got a call where they tried to get me to stay and then eventually gave me the code.

Surprised they haven't called you johnk (from an 0808 number).

Give CS a call and they should be able to give you the code.

Has anyone threatened to leave within the 14 day cooling off period after you have been offered a deal and received a phone? Do they re-negotiate a better deal or do they simply collect the phone and say goodbye?

Got a call today, this is what they offered:

    75mins 100txts (crap & I don't care) unlimited internet, £20 per month.

Omina, Bold or X1 - all I think free and possibly storm aswell once it comes in stock on monday.
  • Which is the best way to end a contract (coming to end of minimum period)? Ive just started another contract with them but cant find an email or address to write to.

    That's a great deal - did they really offer you a S.E X1 for free on a £20 a month contract ?

    BTW - I'm assuming this is a 24 month contract, right ?
